Ok so they are both good teams. For the past two years they have been the two teams to beat and it has turned into an awesome rivalry every matchup. Bingham has lost most of it's old players including an amazing kicker. Alta has lost most of it's old players including an awesome QB and Shak. They lost shak enough said, he was an animal. When it's all said and done both these teams are awesome and are probably going to basically battle it out for state again (lets face it last years state game was a joke it was all about the semifinal game). Alta beat bingham again deal with it. Both teams are good and there's no telling how next matchup will go with these two. This is the rivalry where you cant honestly predict the winner you just have to wait and see. Both teams made mistakes and both teams dug in hard. When it's all said and done Alta did it again. Learn to lose with dignity Bingham fans. For all of you that think you should be giving coaching advice, there's a reason it's not your job...

All of you armchair quarterbacks in South Jordan need to fully support the coach you sang praises for and thought walked on water 2 years ago. Otherwise, contact Cyprus high school and ask if Sudbury will come back to Bingham. That's what I thought! You're either a "loyal" Bingham fan or you're not one of us at all. Win or lose. GOT IT!!!

I agree with everything you said. Only advice I would give is to change your kick off team and why not go under center when your goal and inches?????? We almost had you when you tried to run your QB around to kill minutes. You know there was almost 1 sec when he went down. You did win, so you must know more than the rest of us. Good job and we will be humble for right now. See you at the U.

2 years ago I recall the team winning despite the calls from their offensive coord. Friday night I thought Sonny was still calling the offense. I guess last year in the semi's wasn't the O coord. fault either on 3rd and inches and he runs a stretch play against the fastest D in the state either was it? Pull your head out and see what everybody has been seeing for quite a few years. Feel free to drop your qb back and quit rolling him out to the week side when he can't throw on the run to save his life. 3 QB sneaks in a row? Welcome back Sonny!
hahaha | 1:05 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
good Bingham isn't in the powerrankings anymore. They didn't deserve to be there the first week and now theyre not there at all
Am I Alone? | 1:34 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Double team Webster. That's how you beat Alta. The other wideouts can't carry the load and Alta doesn't have to back that can hang. Make Coach Hamilton "coach" and stop him from continuously being predictable. You can tell which play is a run and which play is a pass just from the formations and the players in the game. Rush Olsen, force Alta to run and double team Webster. There you have it, the formula to beat the Hawks.

They call a great game and they kicked you up and down the field. Both on O and D, play calling was great.

Not too bad of a game for a guy that was hurt. Alta is tough and we play when we are hurt and banged up. It was a game against Bingham, we did not want any excuses when the game was over. Bingham is a great team. We didnt want to complain about cramping, hangnails, sore legs, broken fingers, bruised arms & legs, people that couldnt start because they were injured. We just brought it without any excuse.
Down but not out | 8:51 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Alta is truly the team to beat, they passed by us like we were standing still, ok some of us were. They however did not run by us and therein lies the key, no-one else can pass like Alta at this time so here we go. Alta will enter the playoffs undefeated. Bingham will not lose another game as they complete pre season and then enter region play. They are not as strong as they once were but they still play in a weak region, thus they will continue to improve and take region 3 again. Not boasting just admitting that our region is lacking in football prowess. By playoff time we hope they have figured out how to stop such deep passing, feels like Jordan from last year who came to our house and spanked. Here's looking forward to this year's playoffs and a great rematch with the Hawks, I hope we can give you a better game. I think we will, I think we can, I think we can, I ...

I always wondered how Bingham would fare when they couldn't dominate the line of scrimmage. Now I know. Look at the success Jordan had last year with the same situation. Bingham has tons of talent on both sides of the ball but they need to be a little bit creative on offense. If Peck is as good a coach as many say, he needs to address his lack of offense. This team is playing way below their talent level.

"Bingham will not lose another game as they complete pre season and then enter region play." - Maybe. I hope so. But unless the O-line brings their level of play up, not likely. From what I saw at Skyline and have heard about the Alta game, Bingham's O-line needs A LOT of work. I tried to be at Alta last Friday but car trouble kept me from being there. Anyone got a decent car they wanna sell cheap?
I've read several comments about Bingham players having cramps and about that penalty for sideline encroachment. Both of those irritate me to no end. The team managers, and there are four of them, should be pushing players to pre-hydrate and re-hydrate to avoid cramps. The athletes themselves need to remember this, too. As for the sideline encroachment, that's just a lack of discipline. If you're not in the game, STAY BACK!

I fully agree with you . . if your not gonna be a "loyal" fan to the Miners when were down . . then stay away when were winning because we dont need weak links in our family tree. Either support Bingham and our coaches or go jump on Altas bandwagon cause we dont need you.

To: my 11 year old was telling me the Bingham plays. So what! My brother was up in the stands on the Bingham side and the guy he was next to was picking EVERY play Alta was running and he was right. that's why Bingham's D was stuffing the crap out of them except for the pass plays. The goal line stand by Bingham was awesome and what did Alta do? Ran 4 straight running plays, is that mixing it up? Most every team calls the same plays, these are high school kids, do you expect them to have an NFL playbook memorized? Alta is going to be running the same plays in their next game. It is all about executing the play better than the other team. Bingham just couldn't do that on offense and neither could Alta.
nutt | 12:25 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Everyone needs to realize that Alta dominated only on the defensive side of the ball, they were hardly dominating on offense, they just made some big pass plays. Someone let me know how Alta's QB's jaw is feeling after being popped by L.T.

To: re. anomymous | 4:15 p.m. Aug. 30, 2008, after reading your comment I know why you are anonymous, first of all it is Bingham, dominated and these, spell check next time, and refs make bad calls in every football game at every level, Alta hardly has dominated this rivalry by your standards, Who beat Alta for the title two years ago? Yep that's right. Also making these Alta Seniors not undefeated right?
Anonymous | 1:44 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
The team was undefeated as soph's and JV. I think 7 of the guys as soph's suited up for the championship game. The scary thing, Soup was the scout team back and if I remember he scored more touchdowns on our varsity team in 3 days than Bingham has scored in 3 years! Can you imagine how BAD you would have lost if Alta had a running game?

Yes they are great players - you forgot 98 other players and 20 other starters. Don't make them mad

Coach Berry is arguably the best high school receiver coach in the state! Before coach berry came along, the hawks offense was all ground. How lucky is Alta to have a guy with Coach Berry's caliber on their coaching roster. This dude was all state in high school, went on to break and still hold numerous records with SUU. After is time at SUU he went on to play wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers! After a short career with SF due to injury he took on the roll of head coach for Brighton High then Jordan High and finally took the head coaching spot at Alta when they opened. After a long career as the Hawks head coach and a few state titles he retired. He was then asked to come back and coach the receivers and special teams helping the hawks back to the finals. The season looks great for coach berry and the hawks! Time will tell!
