Utah Utes football: Utes unintimidated by playing at storied program's home

Rise & shout UTAH!!
When it comes to the Utes, I don't care one lick about stupid conference play. I hope they lose by 45 points. I hope they lose to Utah State. I hope they lose everygame.
And the nice thing is, its going to be a long day for them today. Michigan by 14.
So what you're saying Brian, is you weren't good enough to be recruited by Texas. But you found a program that would take you that at least had a couple of games scheduled out in the future with them so you would get to play at their stadium at least one time in your life?
So it wasn't because of any great football tradition at Utah (which they don't have); it wasn't because of any great coaches (non-existent again except for Urban who quickly got the hell out of there); it wasn't because of any huge supportive fan base (see the answer to the first point in this paragraph); and it wasn't because of their prestigious Bachelor of Basket Weaving degree. It was because of the chance to play Texas.
Ok, I guess that makes sense. Now we get insight on the real reason why a recruit might pick the u. Thank you Brian, that was very helpful.
Why yes you have, Brian, It happens every other year for the yoots when they play at BYU.
And if they don't win the yewts will still say dumb stuff like "we were the better team!"
P.S. Kyle - what about your other quote that one loss doesn't ruin the whole season? Maybe you could build on these ideas for a team motto: "Quest To Convince Everyone We Were the Better Team".
That said, best of luck to the Utes in this big game! I sincerely hope they win.
What an opportunity to make a statement about the quality of football here in the west.
Make us proud coach Whittingham and your mighty Utes!
Am I allowed to cheer for the utes? my roommates say I can't cuz they don't sell any utah flags in Provo. I'm thinking about buying a BYU flag and erasing the B and Y but the color's all wrong. Oh well, that's the best I can do. GO UTES (I don't care if you read this Tom and Vick!!)
A Utah Man Am I!
Say your prayers yooties.
you hear 108,000 people; you walk down
into this stadium---the sound is overwhelm-
Ing!
On behalf of MWC fans of every pursuasion, our hearts will be with you in Ann Arbor today."
Yep, sure...
On behalf of MWC fans everywhere, we expect to see the same Utah team that went scoreless agains UNLV,lost to AFA, and whose Defensive Head Coach allowed his team to be beat by the kewgs in the last minutes the past two years.
You are going to humiliate us. You are going to humilate us on National TV.
And what really hurts, is it is that Utah carries the banner for the MWC today. We have no choice on that. Sports anchors everywhere are going to be letting us know that the MWC is weak because you will be so outclassed against a focused team.
Once again, Utah and Kyle are going to embarass the state, and the conference, and there is nothing any of us can do but pull for Utah, and have them embarass us.
For one week all of us will begin to understand, to feel the "Yewt Feeling", and empathyze with Ute Fans everywhere, and feel the embarassment of wearing "Utah Red".
His play-calling today nearly cost us the game. Let's see what his play-calling was starting in the third:
attempted pass
attempted pass
attempted pass
punt
attempted pass
attempted pass
attemptedpass
punt
That game should have been won by 30, but ticky-tack penalties kept Michigan in it...
However, the Utes still looked great for playing the first game of the year in the Big House against the most storied program in the nation, even if they are "rebuilding"
If the Utes fix a couple things, which I am sure they will, like getting rid of the conservative play calling the 3rd quarter, and getting BJ to throw the ball out of bounds when he is out of the tackle box, we will be even more solid...
On another note, where is that Sam McGuffie lover that posts comments on here all the time...His one touchdown run was pretty sweet though...ha ha
That's 4 hours of my life I'll never get back.
The Michigan team is in trouble. They are worse than last years team that lost to App State.
I hope Kyle gets his act together.
"Sports anchors everywhere are going to be letting us know that the MWC is weak because you will be so outclassed against a focused team."
Oh wait since we won you won't be anywhere near this string will you?
Sure, it shouldn't have been as close as it was, but who walked almost at will from one end of the field to the other without much opposition from their opposition? Let's see... It WASN'T MICHIGAN was it?
That said let me second the cry to can Ludwig. Champions play to win, not to not lose Andy. The numbers speak for themselves. Michigan's D wasn't that much better in the second half. We should've slaughtered them - in spite of the sloppy, penalty riddled play.
BYU reminds me of Mitt Romney - a big fish in a little pond who nobody wants playing for them, while Utah reminds me of Sarah Palin - a fine shark ready to take a fierce bite in the deep blue sea.
I'm happy that the Utes won today--any MWC win against a BCS team is a good thing--but there's a whole season to go through. Nice as it is to beat an arrogant BCS team, the fact is that Michigan isn't at its best these days, and it's a game you should have won anyway. It would be a sad thing if this was the highlight of your season.
Michigan was playing probably the worst game of any team in the country today.
UNI would have smoked them big. I way overestimated Michigan.
As for Utah, pretty much what I expected, Jeckel and Hyde.
Utah played decent football at times, and played inept at others. They have such a long way to go if they want to finish higher than third in the MWC.
Kyle and Ludwig have once again proven they have learned nothing in the past years about making halftime adjustments, having the players prepared, and ready to go.
I will not eat the words that Utah embarassed themselves and the MWC in the game, because they did.
Two weak teams in a two point game that both teams should have lost.
Only a TDS fan would make that claim, but I'm curious if one making that claim would dare to post his/her name. We Ute fans need to know WHO you are so we can call you out by name and laugh at you after every Utah and Michigan game.
