Mormon Times getting Shallow

Can I name the times when LDS people or leaders were featured on national magazines?

Why is this issue something anyone should be concerned about? If a person is interesting or newsworthy, feature them, their paticular religion, what does that have to do with anything?

What a shallow question, who cares?

HAHAHA.

hahaha, what a funny question!but i love it.It makes me smile to read that funny and kind of no use question.Anywy, who on earth is that free to ever count how many times LDS news featured on national mag, except lds media ppl.I am not lds,but i love most things of lds, including that funny Question!

Aparently

The first responder was compelled to write a comment. "Who cares" lots of people.

Does this include the good, the bad, and the ugly of the church.. or just the watered down, cleansed and untrue factors it portrays?

George

I care.

Bob2

I agree, Shallow. This obsession with national recognition is getting a little desperate and pathetic.

As a Mormon...

... I'm also wondering why this is news. Who cares?

Let us know when a mormon is on the cover of wine conniseur magazine. Then you'll have something.

"IF YOU PAN IN THE SHALLOWS YOU CAN FIND GOLD"
We need to care, have more caring, for ALL good and positive things in the harsh, negative, and down-trodden world today.
"If there is anything of GOOD report....."
"and praiseworthy......"
Better an article about success and good doing,
than killings, theft, deception, etc.
God cares.
I care.
Thousands care.
Possibly million, even non-members care...even if just out of curiosity.
God bless you for your question, in our free world today, and may God, who CARES FOR YOU, fill your heart with healing, peace and renewed joy in your life.
"IF YOU PAN IN EVERY MANS HEART, YOU'LL FIND A CHILD OF GOD"
Love BACK to ALL today !

This is good

It's great to reflect, in a year when most people think that Mitt Romney has brought Mormons out of obscurity, that other (and probably better) men have captured the attention of America

Wariboko T Melville

Its interesting to us in Nigeria for such a recognition. The Mormon Church is becoming popular now than ever.

Mormons are such hypocrites. You are the ones that bring up your religion into everything you do. Nobody else really cares about it, but you all run around wearing your stupid religion on your sleave and shove it in everybody's face, and then when we don't like it and say anything about it, you call us "anti-" and whine about how we are persecuting you for your religion!

Keep your religion out of the public space and nobody will care! But as long as you stick your religion into our faces, we will continue to tell you what we think of it. That doesn't make us bigots or unfair or anything; it makes you stupid to continue the practice! As soon as you learn to shut up, then we will shut up about your religion.

kimper

How about the ensign, that will work for me. Although I haven't counted how many times I've seen their pictures on street magazines. Hummmmm?

As a Mormon...

... I still don't understand why I should care about this. Shouldn't we applaud the efforts of anybody who acheives or accomplishes something great, regardless of their beliefs? If those people also happen to be LDS, does that somehow validate my beliefs? If so, then when members of my faith receive attention for committing crimes or behaving poorly, should that somehow detract from my own faith?

Not only is obsession with national attention "desperate and pathetic" as Bob2 says, it can be a dangerous path if we deem such attention to be of any importance.

Sam

This is awsome, people are great because they are LDS. Look at how highly disproportional all our greatness is compared with the anti and non-members. We deserve to be praised and repected in this matter. For you haters who have commented negatively, there are billion who care, that is who. Get over it all you non-members and wannabees, if you ever achieve something of note then perhaps you will be recognized until then please stop being so bitter to greatnes of others. Jealious???

Shallow is the best word to describe Mormons.

CA Cares

Anonymous- Would you tell Jesus to "shut up" and not be public about His religion? Where would we be then. If you dislike the Mormons & our religion so badly why do you waste your time reading about us and being so hateful. As a member not in Utah, I enjoy news about members accomplishments. You rarely hear about it out of the state of Utah.
Our church does So Much for all folks around the world, and our leaders don't ask for headlines.
We try to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all. Some embrace it and some don't, and that is ok.

Lloyd

To CA Cares,

I always hear the comment of "...we do so much for folks around the world, and our leaders don't ask for headlines."

I would agree that the church does some good but not nearly as much as it is percieved by members. The percentage of charitable giving to the percentage of income is just horrible. It is a shameful drop in the bucket. If you look at charitable organizations and business charitable giving, the LDS church is not even close to being listed while there income rivals many corporations.

And as far as not asking for headlines well if you take the time a read stories about the LDS helping out, the story and victims are often overlooked and the focus is on all the greatness the LDS church is providing--is this what you call staying out of the limelight.

Everyone needs to simply turn towards there friends and neighbors and care about there thoughts and respect each others points of view. All is good when you see the goodness in others and share a smile and a warm heart.

Its probably possible to find treasure in the most unlikely of places, however one usually pans for gold in a gold mine.
