Shurtleff recovering from leg surgery
11 comments | Read story
My wife, Andrea, and I would like to wish Mr. Shurtliff a speedy recovery. My wife worked with his father at Midvale Middle School and at South Jordan Middle School.
Robert C. Turpin
You are facing a long, grueling recovery. Especially considering the only alternative, if this procedure fails, appears to be amputation. But, judging from your remarkable fortitude thus far, you appear to have more than enough gumption to overcome this obstacle regardless of it ultimate conclusion.
Shurtleff was an inexperienced rider and took a ride on an unfamiliar bike before getting the proper training for it. A direct quote from Channel 4 news: "I wasn't quite ready for a big bike."
I've been riding for 25 years and I believe the overwhelming majority of bad injuries on motorcycles come from inexperience or just plain stupidity or a mixture of both.
The same can be said about all the terrible car accidents out there.
God bless Mr. Shurtleff, for all his service to this State and best wishes for a full recovery.
