Isn't it hilarious to read all of the pro-Obama posts bashing Palin's
lack of experience? Can you name something Obama has done? I can name some
things Palin has done, such as vetoing pork spending and blowing the whistle on
some unscrupulous practices that were occurring with in her own party.
The fact is, the more I read about her record, the more sense this nod is for a running mate for McCain.

Is McCain's choice supposed to be a reflection of his years of experience
and judgement. Wow, what n idiot. As a woman I am offended that he would be so
shallow as to pick Palin just to get the female vote. Voting for McCain/Palin
would be a disaster for our country. The people of this great nation need to
find their heads and their souls and wake up. Obama/Biden any day over this.

I agree with what you said and will take it one step further. We need judges
that not only protect religious freedom, but will also keep religion out of the

John McCain is just pandering to the women's vote with the choice of Palin
here. It is so easy to see! As a working woman with 3 children at home, I know
how extraordinarily difficult it is to balance home, family and extracurricular
activities. How can a woman with a 4 month old special needs child effectively
do both in this case? The media will have a field day with her as she runs all
over the country trying to get elected, all the while championing family values.
I will not be voting for McCain or Obama.

where do i start... please do some research for your own sake. we have reason
to "knock obama" due to the facts or lack there of, and by the way
that is not a "judgement", just truth. so everybody had "poor
judgement" to vote bush two times, you probably would have called a vote
for gore and/or kerry as "good judgement", now we know you are a few
quarts low or have sipped a few quarts too much. i bet clinton was your guy
also, wow, what a great example for a president. and please be fully aware,
that if perot had not screwed things up, and split the votes between himself and
bush senior, we would have never been stuck with billy boy (adulteress) clinton,

I do not yet know much about Governor Palin, as I suspect many of you do not.
Maybe she has limited political experience, but she has more Chief Executive
experience than anyone else on either party's ticket. From what little I
know, I think I like the values and principles she stands for. I am much more
comfortable with someone having two years leadership experience standing up for
sound, good principles than someone with 20+ years experience pushing and
supporting legislation that takes power away from the people and puts it in the
hands of "big brother" government.

You don't understand. This is the best possible move that McCain could
make. She is well spoken and will resonate with poor to middle class faithful
(particulalry White) Americans in a way that McCain, Biden or Obama could never
hope to. She resonates because she is a real person. Whether she is well
known, has a long record, etc. etc. will matter very little. These are things
that matter to political junkies, not to the average Joe. Average Joe decides
who becomes president.

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air! She's not much closer to the
presidency than Nancy Pelosi. Now that's a true nightmare! (Nancy is only
two steps away.)
Mrs. Palin's views and values are closer to mine than are any other candidates'. It's Obama's agenda rather than his inexperience that truly scares me. He is the most liberal, left-wing Senator and has surrounded himself with people who do not love this country and what it stands for. He and his wife have shown their disdain for America by choosing to attend a church that was clearly a black militant church for 20 years and yet didn't notice it? His wife was not proud of our country and felt discriminated against? Yet she has had many opportunities to go to college and become a very successful lawyer.
And lastly, Obama's stand on abortion (especially partial-birth abortion and voting not to save the lives of babies born alive during an abortion) make him totally reprehensible to me.

I like Mitt and felt he was the best candidate for President. As a VP choice
for McCain how can anyone think he was a serious choice? A VP is supposed to be
an insurance policy, not a star.

She was on the Wassila City Council, Wassila Mayor, head of the Alaska Oil and Natural Gas Commission and now has served for nearly a year as governor.
Her husband Todd is at least partly of Yupik Eskimo descent. He is an operator for BP, involed in seperating oil and natural gas. He has worked on Alaska's North slope since 1989 (except when fishing in the summer, and he did take a leave just after Sarah got elected).
I guess this means Mrs. Palin has "oil industry connections". However this is "we want to drill more in Alaska" connetions. In fact, even that would not really help her, since as long as they drill her husband can have a job, so this is not about investment grade connections to the industry.
It is hard to imagine someone from a background more different than McCain.
At the same time Palin is a strong Christian, without the anti-Mormon baggage of Huckabee.

This is great news for Mitt! If he had been selected on this losing ticket
headed by McCain, it would have severely hampered his chances in 2012. Jack
Kemp's future was blighted by running with a loser. Obama will screw up
royally and Rommey will finally get his opportunity to come in and rescue us.
I'm glad McCain didn't saddle Mitt with the stigma of being a loser
this time around! Let's just hope that none of the old liberal justices on
the Supreme Court kick the bucket in the next four years...

can't ever know for sure what kind of job Kerry and Gore would have done,

I'm surprised to see how so many people are in love with Mitt Romney, and
write off the McCain ticket automatically just because "Romney"
isn't attached to it. I too was at first surprised by the choice of Palin,
but after DOING SOME RESEARCH and looking at the choice more objectively, I have
to say I'm pleased with the choice. People keep saying "Washington is
broken." Well, of the four people in the spotlight, she's the only one
unaffiliated with Washington, and will bring something REAL to the White House.
Sure, experience is good, but it seems that the more experienced someone is in
politics, the more corrupt they are. Palin will be a breath of fresh air and
just what this country needs. Heck, I'd even choose her over McCain. Call
me crazy, I know, but I've never been excited about either candidate.

McCain's choice is just too gimmicky. If he thinks he can snag the
Sisterhood of the Pantsuits, I think he made a serious tactical error. I'm
an independent and would have considered voting for him if he had chosen either
Lieberman or Romney. Now I am resigned to the fact that Mr. Obama will be our
next President. Accordingly, I do not plan to vote.

McCain just did this to try and win over some of the Hillary supporters. He is
listening to the wrong strategists, and certainly doesn't care about the
nation if he were to die in office. Palin is another Olene Walker. Some reports
are that McCain will have difficulty winning his own state (after all he was the
only presidential candidate to win with less than 50% of the primary voters in
his home state). People will get over their bigotry about Mitt's religion
in 4 years, and they will be clamoring for him to save us from the folly of

least he would bring some experience to the table. It's hard to say what
kind of experience, in that one can't possibly get to know him while
he's flip-flopping at breakneck speeds. But c'mon....Is this choice

adds nothing to the ticket and we sure don't want to see her as president

She would be excellent! I hope McCain picks her. There is probably too much controversy around choosing Mitt, when those two don't really get along. Mitt should be President, but working with McCain as VP? I just don't see it.
I predict the country will continue shouting ignorantly for change and blindly vote Obama in, despite the poor changes that he would bring. A couple years later and we will then shout for improvement, instead of just change. Romney will be President in 4 years.
Still, Palin could end up being the best choice we have on any current ticket, giving me reason for hope in the present. She didn't have any experience before making drastic improvements in Alaskan politics, either. But she now has the proven record to do what unexperienced Obama can only promise to do--change old and corrupt policies.
Obama is unrealistic. We will still be at war, tax breaks to bad workers will only further a bad economy, and we will still pay terrorists for oil as other energies are still far off.
Palin knows best on how to maintain but use our best energy resource--Alaska--in the meantime.

mccain is a wimp. scared to surround himself with presidential talent. palin
seems to be a nice lady--with no experience. and he rips on obama for being
inexperienced? palin has been governor for two years and a mayor of a town with
a population of 6000. romney has been successful in everything he's done
in the public and private sectors, yet many of you continue to expose your
jealousy. who cares if he has multiple houses? any successful businessman
would diversify his portfolio with real estate along with stocks, bonds, and
other assets. i have been a long-time republican, but with no economic
expertise on the ticket, i'm going to have to vote democrat this year--sad,
but mccain's a pompous idiot. i respect romney's credentials but
don't respect the fact he is still supporting a guy who continues to stab

The irony here is that Barack Obama's side wants to narrative to be Obama
triumphing over racism. I know the percentage of voters who would not vote for
a Mormon, no matter what, are in the double-digits. (If this number seems high

Surprise, surprise. Not all surprises are good - think Trick-or-Treat, or a
scary medical diagnosis. I am heartsick. I was voting for McCain based on his
experience and judgment - I felt safer with him - I felt I knew him. Now he is
choosing a VP that is totally unknown to most of us. He has removed the
experience factor from the campaign. My friends today are saying they will not
vote at all. The most patriotic thing Palin can do is to refuse the selection
and allow another choice before it is too late. You insult women when you
mistakenly believe they choose a candidate based on gender - it is all facets of
the person - primarily experience and the trust factor. I would vote for an
independent if we just had a good choice. Obama must be laughing now.

I suspect this choice for VP candidate is to get some of the votes away from the
Hillary camp now pro Obama. If McCain is elected president and something
happens to him while in office, we could be looking at the first female

raise your taxes and tell you its some kind of economic voodoo being performed

that if she were a govenor here in the lower 48 she would have been nominated
for pres. already! I challenge everyone reading this to research her and see if

This is very, very scary for America. If McCain, a 72 year old man is elected
president, and develops serious health problems from the stress of the job,
Palin will become president of the United States. A woman who has done nothing
at all and has been governor for 2 years. This selection by McCain should scare
