I think the days of cheap energy are over. The high costs will make the two SUV's, 7 kids, huge house in the burbs, a thing of the past.
If the cost of energy remains high or goes higher people will just demand higher wages so that they can maintian there lifestyle. It is called inflation, and it can get pretty crazy.
