RP: You're painting the kettle | 11:32 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008

You stated that Obama has no plans for mandated healthcare? I went to HIS website and found this little gem.

Mandatory Coverage of Children: Obama will require that all children have health care coverage. Obama will expand the number of options for young adults to get coverage, including allowing young people up to age 25 to continue coverage through their parents' plans.

So that he's not mandating coverage seems a bit out of line with information @ the canindate's own website. Where do you think the funding will come from for this? Can you say higher taxes?

My first memory of Biden on TV was in 1990 with the Clarence Thomas hearings; what shocked me was growing up here in Utah and never hearing anyone stand up to Senator Hatch and here was Biden yelling at him at every moment and making Hatch look like less than intelligent. I guess that is why I like Biden so much. Both he and Hatch grew up in PA; both are attorneys, both are religious, both love family, but only one of them stands up for truth and dignity and respect for the common man, only one of them has a sense of humor, one of them has life inside his bones, one of them has curiosity, one of them has been a senator and professor, and one of them does the Sunday morning shows and one of them doesn't.

TAXES | 11:47 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
The change that Obama is proposing is increasing ALL taxes. McCain is keeping it the same. If you think our Real Estate is in the toilet now then vote for Obama. He is also planning to tax your Capital Gains. Yep, he's the man all right.
sad story | 11:48 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
The comparing Obama to "The Messiah" is one of those oh, so funny little digs you will hear daily, 3hrs a day, 5 days a week in fact, from the nasty mouth of Rush Limbaugh.

You can see by the nasty postings how popular the drug-riddled people-hater is.

Kind of sad, isn't it?
Obama has the Wisdom | 11:59 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Obama said we should talk to Iran, when he first said it, many derided the idea, including Rush Limbah. Now we under Pres George Bush are doing just that.

I think Barac Obama would make a wonderful president. It is clear to me he has the wisdom to lead and will be one of our better Presidents.
Change | 12:13 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008

Here's what you'll get with B. Hussein Osama:

Higher taxes
Higher gas prices
No tapping of our own oil resources
Wide open borders
Dead babies (before they take their first breath)
Socialized health care
Cut and run military
foreign policy of appeasement
Benevolence toward radical Muslim movements in
America and around the world.
A not-ready-to-govern president (Biden's words)

If you want the above, vote for Osama, er Obama.

Who in their right mind (sorry about the pun) would want to relate to the mega-rich who we all know by now has most likely done SOMETHING not exactly kosher to get to where they are today (exception: hitting Mega-bucks in the slot machines)?
There is just something there that just smacks of somebody getting the shaft somehow, somewhere, by the powers that be - the boss man.

Time to focus on We the People again.
glenn | 12:20 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Higher taxes to only the top 5 percent of the country----Go Obama! When Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy----everything changed, states became richer, universities, colleges, small town and big city all improved. In Europe many executives are okay with a $500,000 salary and they are for parks, buses, trains, and a content citizenry; but here no! Executives go for $50 million, $100 million some also are against taxes, it is incredible. I respect rich people who support the rich paying a higher tax, that includes Warren Buffett, Bill Clinton, Oprah, most of the TECH world, all of Hollywood, and since much of the big cities are Democrat (all big cities voted for Gore in 2000), we could conclude that here too in the USA many rich are okay with taxes. Biden said last night 95% of the people will not have a tax increase. One question no conservative has been able to answer the last 6 years: are you for higher taxes if it is the difference on winning the war on terror? You have to choose: lower taxes or war? CHOOSE ONE. Our country chose war so now we have to have higher taxes!!!!

What's wrong with labeling B. Hussein Obama as the Messiah? He is the Messiah to masses of his own kind here and around the world.

African Kenya, from whence came his roots, and Indonesia, the place of his youth are pulling for him. Much of the Muslim world loves him. Hamas and Hezbollah are pulling for his candidacy. In many respects, he IS a Messiah.

Compared to McCain, anyway. All McCain has to offer is maturity, dignity, patriotism, and a broken body from fighting America's enemies. Not much there.
A real candidate | 12:32 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Neither of these men have my vote. I will support a candidate who will balance the budget, abolish the Federal Reserve and restore sound money, thereby ridding us of inflation (which Ben Bernanke himself has admitted is a tax), adopt a non-interventionist foreign policy (that is not the same as isolationism - look up the difference) and repeal all executive orders and laws which are unconstitutional, thereby restoring our civil liberties. If we had a candidate like that pretty much the all the people's criteria for a good president mentioned above would be met.

We can't keep voting in individuals who want to band-aid our problems. We need to get to the root of them. Our government and individuals are in serious debt, inflation is out of control, we are mired in far too many foreign affairs that have and will continue to come back to bite us and our civil liberties are being stripped everyday. It's time for real change. Neither of these candidates will do it for us. I'd recommend beefing up on your food storage. We have rough times ahead. I don't mean to be cynical, but there is only so much we can take.
Obama Is Right Again | 12:43 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Since 1980, the share of the wealth going to the top 5% of americans has greatly increased, and the share going to the middle class has decreased.

The Republican response to this? Lower taxes in such a way that the very rich get most of the benefits.

In defense of this terrible policy, conservatives are crying class warfare and hatrid of the rich.

No one hates the rich, its just that Americans want don't like seeing them getting more than their share of the wealth.

Do we want an America where the super wealthy top 5% have 40% of the wealth? while the rest of us have our income after inflation going down?

Yes, Obama will lower taxes on the middle class and raise taxes on the wealthy. This wouldn't be necessary if the super wealthy didn't take more than their fair share in the first place. Don't think they do? Why do CEO's even if they do a bad job always walk away with millions in severance?

While you and I if we do a bad job, get booted out the door? The very rich certainly aren't shy about using what power they have to their unfair advantage.

You are exactly the type of individual that needs change.
Do you have consciousness? Do you know what consciousness is?
The most infamous events in the history of USA will be written about your party, and your president.
Yes, president Clinton weakness for sex has no justification.
How can you sleep with the amount of destruction and death that your party has caused to the USA and to other cultures?
Yes, it was a revenge to Sept 11. When you are hurt you want others to feel similar pain.
Your republican ideology or afiliation is inhuman and your views on human civilization are inmoral.
Your president removed the Sadam=Tumor but it killed democracy and the most important values that USA stands for. I will include you in my prayers.

Silly little falsehoods do get the attention of the old religious ladys who moderate this sight, and good rational arguments hardly ever get published. If there are real facts involved forget about it.

Very true, and I wonder why so many people only
want rumor and lies to be the school of thought in life?

"No one hates the rich, its just that Americans want don't like seeing them getting more than their share of the wealth."

I find it funny that somehow people would have us believe that somehow the rich are getting away with something. However this would require completely ignoring the fact that there is a portion of the population that get back more then they pay. All that is required to do so is that you need to be poor, be married, and have 3+ kids.

It is hard to imagine that the same founding fathers who believed in equality in collecting duties, imposts and excises would have ever gone along with a system that takes more of your money just because you make more.

It is a shame that we have gone from a country where anything was possible to one that believes that anything is possible but only if the government steps in and takes it from someone else and gives it to you.
Dave | 1:19 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Reply "Is McCain smarter then a 5th gra"

And yet McCain can say he was smart enough to not be the one to make the assenine suggestion that we go to the UN Security Council to address Russia invading Georgia. Because anyone with half a brain knows that Russia/China can and will veto anything that condemns them or their friends...
President McCain | 1:39 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
It was fun Obama. Utah is a nice place to visit should you want to drop by. See 'ya in 4 years. You could probably work for Hillary and Bill, they are always hiring.

We're tired of it. If you have a problem, take it up with him.

BTW, he only validates what all of us conservatives believe.
To Glenn | 1:52 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008

How does taxing the wealthy help you out personally?

Don't you understand that if the wealthy have less to spend, that means fewer jobs created?

Go hawk your class warfare somewhere else.
Housecrap | 2:55 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
All this house talk is wasting my time. Does the press think we are genuinely freaked that someone running for president is rich??? Money flies at whoever the front runner is in either party and we all know why. A better story would be: who is donating the most to Obama or McCain and how much influence are they hoping to buy.

Not So Common Sense | 2:56 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
More class warfare talk from conservatives.
More talk of hating/ envying the rich from cons.
More talk of transfer of wealth from cons.

Its amazing.

Point the finger at the other guy so nobody looks at what you are up to.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:
1) The transfer of wealth that has occured in this country, is TO THE RICH. In 1980 the top 5% owned 50% of the country's wealth, today they own over 60% of the country's wealth.
Democrats are not looking to transfer wealth to the poor and middle class, they are asking the rich to pay their share, so that all Americans have a chance at the American dream.

2) The top 5% pay the LOWEST tax rates they have EVER paid in our country's history right now.

3) The top 5% pay the LOWEST tax rates in the US vs. EVERY other industrialized country.

4) These low tax rates on the ultra rich also coincide with the largest deficits in our nations history. The number of people living in poverty is growing, wages have stagnated for the poor and middle class.
Not So Common Sense | 3:05 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Here's a breakdown of the ultrawealthy in our country.

Net worth $2 million to $3.5 million
Number of individuals 846,000
Total wealth $2.1 trillion

NW $3.5 million to $5 mil
# of individuals 247,000
TW $1 trillion

NW $5 to $10 million
# 231,000
TW $1.5 trillion

NW $10 million to $20 million
# 79,000
TW $1.0 trillion

$20 million or more
# 47,000
TW $2.6 trillion

Conservatives want you to believe these people will stop trying to make more money if you raise their taxes.

Over the course of our country's history, their taxes have been raised and lowered, many times.
They have NEVER stopped investing in business and trying to grow richer.

The only thing accomplished by lowering their taxes is to allow them to get richer quicker. They DO NOT pass it on to anyone else.

flash and splash | 3:06 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
After watching the amazing flash and splash at the Dem Convention I wondered what the cost of the event was for such a non-surprising outcome. The cost of staging, travel, media coverage etc. Surely that money could go to some greater good.
Re: flash and splash | 7:34 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
And I'm sure that the Republican Convention will be in a high school gym with cookies and punch from Costco being served on a folding table.

Sorry, try again.
