Making history: Biden hails Obama as wise leader who can deliver change
76 comments | Read story
Obama is smart, articulate, and self-made by hard work, not by inheritance. That makes Obama the opposite of George Bush.
I've had it with more of the same government that cares more about the Iraqi economy than the American family, for example.
I'm voting Obama-Biden. If they get only one vote in SE Idaho, that would be me. I Americans vote hope and fear.
Who is he to sit on his perch an ocean away and cast dispersions on either McCain or Obama?
In this election an honest assessment would find shortcomings, weaknesses and character flaws in each candidate.
So?
What I want to know is how each candidate fights the personal battles and overcome adversity.
And...
... how that candidate will take on the real issues of the day including:
- The reemergence of the Taliban in Afghanistan
- Our country's dependence on oil
- The torture of enemy combatants
- The execution of the war on terror
- Competent government
- The restructuring of our fiscal infrastructure
- The economy and number of foreclosures
- The escalating price of food, clothing and energy
I say we spend our time and energy debating these issues and leave the character judgment and assignation and to history and eternity.
I do not see that there is going to be any change except more entitlement programs and National (get in a long line) Health Care. It will make Maricopa County Hospital seem fast moving.
There are some aspect of some of what has been said that I would like to observe if I was forced to. With or with out the Obamanation, I am not leaving America. 1. "my husband will force you to be involved" 2. paraphrase " You will work, you will not be allowed to remain as you are." I would like to see him pull that off. I would like to see just what it takes to get someone away from their 32" HDTV Set and outside to take part in the demonstrations. Or will I be forced to hire the 400 + pound women, now collecting Welfare. Think Not!!!
Now they tell us only the rich are going to pay more taxes- Yes Myrtle, 'Rich' are considered small business owners bringing in $250,000 per year with a $25,000 dollar profit. And guess who will pay for the Universal World Health Care?
Biden has alway wanted 'no bankruptcies' allowed on credit card debt.
Welcome to all the future 'CHANGE' in America!
The country is in the worst shape I have ever seen it under BushCo.
Solution?
MORE of BushCo?
What are you, nuts?
Anyone who believes he will "SAVE" this country really needs to get back to reality.
I for one do not want gov. sactioned health care, higher taxes, cut n run, and I definatley do not want anyone in office who thinks so little of our military.
Truth is were in bad times and its not any one presidents fault and it will take a heck of a long time to fix, It will take all of us working together to make a difference.
Vote Bama! he'll promise the moon to get in office and then he'll take you and the rest of us to a hot place none of us want to be.
The economy tends to be cyclical.. but the less they mess with it and the more of our own money we can keep the better the economy rebounds in a Free Market.
You say you want change..who says it will be change for the better? Obama's politics aren't just liberal they are socialist. I don't think we need that kind of change
Great. As soon as she finds about Obama spearheading congressional ethics reform, securing loose nukes, cleaning up the shameful situation at Walter Reed, and working for veterans' benefits, she realize that Obama has actually done far more in the last term than McCain has, and her vote will swing back.
You should at least ask her the same question: what has McCain done? Besides passing McCain/Feingold campaign finance laws that he has since tried his best to break.
At these conventions, the professional politician huck out the same same rhetoric -- every four years.
To go from the Olympics to the DNC and RNC is a stark contrat; real champions vs. champions-in-their-own-mind champions.
I agree with an ealier poster: Cindy McCain for prez. Yup.
People are just too disillusioned with Bush (the worst President in history) and McCain is simply too close to him to let his "maverick" wings fly.
McCain is not presidential : he's an old war hero that deserves to be venerated and put in a museum. If he chooses Romney, who has shown time and again he has no soul, he will seal his own fate.
Both Obama and Biden are in touch with the average American, they are both vibrant leaders, and they have a vision for foreign policy, the economy, among other things, and the skills and experience to see it through.
It's a new day, Utah: get with the program! Stop listening to Sean Hannity--he kisses your butt when he's in town, but you know he goes back to New York and makes fun of Utah.
GO OBAMA GO!
Debt please be totally forthcoming, yes Obama's plan will probably increase taxes on those making over $250,00, but crying for the small business owner who only clears $25,000 a year from his $250,000, please, they clear $25,000 after the business bought them a truck, a car, their house, business dinners on the town, and probably a vacation home on the golf course in St. George. I'm not saying it's wrong just be honest.
The group we have now had their chance.
Not everyone is as pleased with their results as they seem to be. In fact the overall feeling seems to be overwhelming concern for the future.
Let another group have at it.
Bush the worst President in history? I am not sure you remember Presidents like Jimmy Carter, Warren G. Harding, Richard Nixon, Andrew Johnson, James Buchanan.
As for Obama and Biden being in touch with the common man, I think not. Both of these guys are elitist and care only for their friends from Hollywood and other big money supporters. Neither one of these guys are right for the country as they care only for their liberal agenda-read Obama's position statements.
Unfortunately in the period of history we are in we don't have a lot of choices this election cycle. We need statesmen/stateswomen in both parties not people who want power and fame. We need leaders that will take a stand on American core values like freedom and justice for all, then work to protect them and stand by them no matter the personal cost. Oh I guess I just described President Bush.
(sound of crickets chirping)
Anyone?
I keep hearing the Nobama sycophants, and Bush haters state, "the country is heading in the wrong direction."
Really? Aren't we already on the path to killing babies? On the path to more government? More taxes? More illegal immigrants? More government handouts? On the path to surrender? More perversion (same sex marriage)?
So they must mean we're not heading down that path fast enough.
On second thought, we ARE on the wrong path.
How can we be sure that B. Hussein Osama as president will not appoint his friends like William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrahkan, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Father Pfleger, or Tony Rezko to his cabinet?
If you mean the do-nothing congress, you're right. They all need to leave.
We should push for term limits.
But let's face it, Nobama is a demo. And if he is elected (won't happen), he'll be a demo, and give you:
Higher taxes
Higher gas prices
A tanked economy
A wide, open border
More dead babies
More scandal
A twisted foreign policy
More socialism
No thanks.
The answer to the 'health care mess' is competition, not government oversight.
Please, name ONE thing that the government hasn't screwed up? One thing the government is efficient at?
You want to hand over the healthcare industry to the government? You're nuts!
Prior to 1958 Cuba was a sanctuary for USA gangsters, and a pseudo colony of USA.
After 1958 Cuba has been the only country in Central America which has a revolutionary process in motion, decreaced child mortality, increase literarcy, graduated medical doctor and other professionals to help African and South American countries. Of course, Cuba has experiece a different ideology and socialisttype of government.
Cuba and Chile are the albatros hanging from USA neck. Cuba although on its knees, because the USA economic blockade, is a model of society for South American countries.
Yes, there has been executions, yes the island architecture is in ruins, yes criminals and pampemproletarians has been sent to USA, yes there is shortage of food, but those are the challanges that a country which wants to be free of USA depency has to pay. Yes, capitalism works.
Mr. Barack Obama will be the president of USA.
Long live Fidel Castro.
Now let me get this staight, the Dems are against identification in order to vote, but, you must show a driver's license or other valid I.D. to be able to enter the Barackopolis tonight to see Obama's speech. Typical.
NOBODY,NOBODY and let me say again NOBODY has proposed turning over the health care industry to government. The discussion is about access to health care.
Social Security and medicare which have been Godsends to millions, the national forest system, the national parks system, air traffic control, mass transit systems, Department of Agriculture food inspections, the EPA for starters. Yes, there are examples of government failure, just as there are examples of market failure.
To suggest, as the poster at 10:02 is trying to hoodwink us with, that it is all Congress' fault is absurd.
We already tried fearmongering the last 2 elections. The American public is past it now. Why not try talking up your candidate, instead of slinging fear about the opponent? Oh, that's right, there's not much to say about McCain...POW camps aren't presidential training camps, and a mistress with beer money isn't "family values".

Clinton is right but he failed to mention that he and Obama both have more experience then John McCain when it comes to foreign policy, domestic issues and now it is time for people to learn about the real McCain, a man who lacks the experience to be President, whose knowledge is limited, who still thinks Czechoslovakia is a country and who believes that Iraq borders Pakistan. When confronted about the reality of Iran's government he didn't know that President Ahmadinejad is merely a figurehead and that the real leader of Iran is the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Even worst is his inability to know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite.
Can we trust John McCain to be ready to lead on day one when he is so stupid that he still thinks a country exists that doesn't. It's time to put John McCain "Are you Smarter then a 5th Grader" so we can get a good laugh when a 5th grader kicks his senile behind.
