Legislature take the blame! | 11:00 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
As a 21 year law enforcement officer that has worked 4-5 years with both State Corrections and a County Sheriffs Office, never in that time has the State Legislature fully funded repayment of the Counties expenses for the State inmates. State inmates are a State unfunded mandate on all of the Counties. If you check with the State or County accountants that work these accounts, they would confirm that the limp-wristed Republican Legislature has never fully reimbursed the Counties at the contractual reimbursement rate. There were several years, they provided well less then 50% of the contracted rate and one or two that some Counties didn't get anything.

They seem to talk tough on crime, but only if it doesnt cost a cent. The Troopers are one of the most underpaid Law Enforcement Agencies on the Wasatch Front. The Corrections Officers are so poorly paid that it is a revolving door to other employment.

Legislature, please, blame the Corrections Division. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

This is what happens when there's too much privatization of our penal system.

This 'privatization' crap for the benefit of profit-takers has got to stop.

Time to get back to the government being allowed to do its job, without conflicting profit/shareholder agendas.

Time to get back to having the military do the job of civil nation building, as it did after WWII, and kick the private for-profit corporate para-military hoodlums out of the picture.

Time to get our utilities and energy providers back under the 'Public Utilities' system and get the rocketing price gouging private shareholder-driven utilities out of the picture (since their 'free market' claim of better prices and service has gone 180 degrees opposite...).

Time to get Homeland Security organizations out of the hands of private interests and Wall-Street interests and back into the hands of military and government law enforcement agencies - completely!

Time to take the government back from private profit gouging anti-middle class American corporate/wealthy few interests and give it back to the patriotic working middle-class Americans.

Time to vote straight Democrat in November, including here in Utah!
