During 2001 Utah was in a pre-olympic boom, not a recession like the rest of the country.

Also those people who bought homes over priced and with ARM rates are the hidden underbelly of the economy. They do not have movey for health care because they bought to much house.

I takes $100,000 a year income to purchase a $300,000 house. What kind of crazy thinking for people to buy that overpriced box.

I would not be surprised if tithe to the LDS is lacking and this nonsense of buying toys, (boat, RV, Expensive Big TV's is all foolishness.

The economy shills of the U of U, the Zions bank economy Shills, plus incomplete reporting by the news paper reporters all boasted of the happy, happy, happy, times in SLC for years.

The real estate sellers also are economy shills. I know because I have been going to open houses in SLC since 1992 and watched the prices go up crazy.

The money taken out of the house with equity loans was not worked for nor earned. Now that money is gone for at least 15 years.

There is a wonderful law called cause and effect that cannot be broken. SLC citizens is getting the a good lesson. So. Be. It.

What party has been in office this past 8 years? What party has been in control in this state forever? Is there any connection? You bet there is. How long just how long are the citizens of this state going to believe that this one party is going to be a plus for them in their personal lives. Get a grip PLEASE voters. Wages have always been depressed here, labor unions forever dissed. It's always been about the have and have nots. We are good people, hard working, honest and deserve better for our efforts to provide. Now is the TIME FOR A CHANGE citizens. Facts are facts, history is history, and we have always been at the bottom believing in a one party(Republican) system. Please vote for the good of yourselves people and not a group.

Sorry to break it to you, but the economy is not that tied to politics. It's a beauty of capitalism.
Inflation? | 4:35 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I could be wrong, but doesn't the inflation formula exclude gas and real estate? If so, these "adjusted for inflation" wages are actually wrong, and much much lower.
