You've used up all of your eligibility. Keep dreaming.

The cougs get special treatment because they know how to "do what's right on and off the field." I think the Y was Magical the last two years with the U. Two TD's in the last few seconds now that's talent. Beating UCLA was luck for the U.
Jebus | 3:09 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Jebus will get hit by de bus when Vakapuna runs over his little Yweties in November. Hope they are ready for Wolverine revenge during the weekend opener.

Coach's Kids II | 3:09 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I totally agree with the coach's kids thing too. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking the same thing. I thought it would change, but I'm guessing it'll always be like that from now on. It's terrible for the other linemen who are more deserving and actually have a bit of experience under their belts. Hopefully Max doesn't get hurt from this type of favoritism.

You forgot an "o". It is spelled P. O. O. P.
To Hmmmm | 3:14 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
One of the lame schools was Uofywetes.

RE: Dreamer

Your Utes recruited both the Reynolds brothers playing on BYU's line. Whittingham would love to have had either of them. So what if Chambers says an inspired dream may have brought him to BYU. Maybe Alex Smith was inspired to go to the U. Try this saying, "You don't make yourself bigger by trying to make others smaller." Go Cougs!!
Dream Team | 3:16 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I hear that BM is dreaming of perfection. We will see how close after this weekend.

As for favoritism, I think the specter of Roger Reid should persuade Bronco and his assistants to avoid the very appearance of cronyism.

But more to the point: who appointed you two to be coaches? You seem to know so much about the pressures of making the step from high school to college or necessity of cradling the ball. You thereby imply that the coaches are clueless. I've always had the impression that they were pretty professional and knowledgeable. That would mean that if they thought Chamber's comments to the press represented a clear and present danger, they would put a muzzle on him. Therefore, C-hater, when you say he should not be "aloud" [sic] to talk - and how can we talk without it being aloud - you are usurping the coaches' jobs. Pretty presumptuous of you, don't you think?

Trading insults | 4:16 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Which is worse: The repititious insults about the UNLV vs. Utah game? Or the "living right" doctrine Utah fans can't stop shooting off about?

To me, both are equally tiresome and equally juvenile. Let's finally put both to rest.
Jealousy | 4:48 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
adding Dream on! @ 2:45 to my list of jealous ute fans that are wishing that their own team was as successful as BYU's recent teams!
Corbin Emerick | 4:53 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Hey merlin dreaming, I don't remember the UCLA score but I do remeber you got shut out by UNLV and only put up 12 vs big bad Air Force... Great comment though buddy!!! Utah was ranked 80th in the country last year in total offense. If you don't believe me, look it up. It's kind of funny how a lot of Pac 10 schools recruited both Dallas and Matt Reynolds, so that proves how bad they are. Oh yeah and the U recruited them as well. Nice comment once again... As long as we have the ball last come this November we'll win. We can always count on Gary Anderson(utah d coordinator for those ute front-runners that didn't know) and that amazing ute secondary to let someone sneak behind them. Hey Brice Mccain keep your man in front of you!!!!! And don't bite on the pump fake when the receiver is still 8 yards short of the first down... Magic happens baby!!! I'll take our 1984 National championship over your little BCS run anyday...
Chambers | 4:58 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
If a 2-star recruit is the answer to BYU's dreams, then BYU needs to go back to sleep and come up with something better.
HUH? | 5:05 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
This kid wasn't even in the Top 100 wide receiver recruits in the nation in 2008. Why are so many Cougar fans so excited about him? If this guy is supposed to an instant impact player for BYU, maybe BYU fans should be shaking in their boots; the rest of your roster undoubtedly needs some work. Depth must be horrible.

At real football schools, like USC or Ohio State, it isn't unusual for 4 and 5 star recruits to have to wait three years until they hit the field. They're that deep, and they're that good.

Silly. Plain silliness. BYU fans, get a clue. You're not a football school.
RE: Merlin dreaming | 5:06 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Merlin is a perfect example of selective gloating. Sure the yewts beat up on UCLA, but what did they do to UNLV the next week or so? Why didn't you mention that game and then compare scores the yewt's and BYU's results in that venue?

The fact was that UCLA had to play at RES one week after being pounded (physically) by what several UCLA players called "the most physical team they remember playing in some time". That team being BYU.

So gloat on because all you yewt fans have hold on to, and will for many years is 2004.
Florida | 5:11 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I realize this kid comes from Florida. But believe it or not, even a football state like Florida has mediocre players.
Reynolds Boys | 5:20 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Is there a lineman that ought to be starting in their place? Dallas is a pre-season all-american and Matt was probably the most recruited kid next to Ben Olson to play at the Y. And the Reids could have gone almost anywhere too. One of them ended up tranferring to and starting at Michigan. If coaches kids are otherwise not talented enough to play for other big time teams then the criticism is valid. But I'm afraid with the Reynolds and Reids it just doesn't hold water. This reminds me of Cody Hawkins following his dad to Colorado. He is not NFL caliber but, like the Reids and Reynolds, could play for a number of BCS teams and is not starting just because of pedigree.
RE: two-step | 5:29 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I tire of the hypocrisy of you yewt fans who make fun of BYU playing UNI this year. You seem to ignore the fact that you have Weber State on your schedule.

UNI could tear Weber State a new one.
BYU Fan | 6:05 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I'm a cougar fan, but I can still remember that kickoff return the Utes carried in for a TD to open the game under Urban Meyer. It was one of the most beautifully choreographed plays I've ever seen. It takes a whole team to design a play like that, so lets see our Cougs get creative to make something happen!
This is stupid! | 6:27 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
That's it, just stupid.
To Hmm... | 6:46 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
yeah your right texas and florida and georgia are all way lame schools to go to for football! are you serious? do you even watch football? comment on something you know about
Ridgerunner | 6:58 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Always has to be some people who have to tell others they can't realize their dreams! Has anyone besides myself noticed that it always comes from people who never did anything with their own lives? If they can't (or won't) do big things they are always the first to tell others, they can't either! Dream big, achieve big! Dream small achieve small!
I predict this young man will do special things, not only on the football field but in his life! How about you anonymous? What will you do?
Ing | 7:02 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Stars, schmars. What determines how good a kid is, the star rating some magazine gave out, or how he does on the field in college? "Real" football schools make fine players out of the recruits they can get, no matter how many stars were involved.

Speaking of silliness, the snooty star talk reminds me of Dr. Seuss...Sneetches on beaches and stars on thars.

And as for the "coach's kids" commenters... If you all are so good at evaluating talent, maybe you should be on a college football staff somewhere. But until you get that job, I think I'll trust that the coaches probably know what they're doing when they put those guys on the field.
Weber State | 7:55 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
A dangerous upset minded team that the Utes will have to prepare for is waiting to ambush Utah in Ogden. The same for those ever crafty and talented farmers from Cache Valley. These are two games the Utes will need all of their talent to win. It's unwise to schedule two such power houses in the same season.
"We" not "ME" | 8:01 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
is oneal the only guy on the team or something? he sais he will run it back, but its going to take a team effort to make the blocks.
Norman Da Mormon | 8:13 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Is Chambers the new Lenny Gomes ?
Re: To Hmm | 8:58 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
You comment makes no sense. I'm sure Texas, Florida, and Georgia weren't going to waste a scholarship on a kid not even within the top 100 wide receiver recruits in the nation. They might invite him to scrimmage with them, but he'd be paying his own way and would have a 5% chance of ever getting playing time.

Chambers knows this. Which makes it that much more unbelievable why he keeps shooting his mouth making outrageous and arrogant guarantees.
Lenny Gomes | 10:04 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Sorry for the stupid question... I am not a local, and I'm just wondering who is this Lenny Gomes guy that everybody makes fun of on these boards? Can someone enlighten me? Maybe then I'll get all the jokes. Thanks BYU and Utah fans.
Re: Lenny Gomes | 8:33 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
His name is forever etched in the lore that is the BYU-Utah rivalry.

Kids will be kids | 10:28 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Hey cougar fans - haven't read all the quotes, but if you are going to be consistent then you better start mocking chambers for his comments... I realize that they are not quite on par with Castells quotes regarding the Heisman... but I don't remember you saying how you loved his enthusiasm, or how we need more optimist, or any talk of how fun it is going to be to watch him, etc. Basically you shot him down for being arrogant and so on.

My point is that you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you can ridicule or blast one then you must ridicule/blast the other. In my opinion they are both kids living their dream and though they may say some outrageous things, we must remember they are just kids... and maybe we as fans should not rip apart and disect everything they say. Good luck to both of them.

Go Utes!!!
