For the first time I am envious of the East side. Our elected board members all are double gouging us!

Why didn't we have the opportunity to elect new board members? These board members have shown us over and over they are just in it for the money. Are they elected for life?

Anonymous 5:41: Do you respect the amount of time and effort board members commit? This compensation is minimal and well deserved for the commitment they make.

Gouging is hardly the appropriate term for the tiny amount of compensation they receive compared with the enormous commitment they make.

So Board Members..... The answer is to resign. If the job is an inconvenience, get out of dodge. Teachers and administrators don't get to increase their salary when the job hours increase and they are certainly more important and less expendable than you...

If the money was the reason they serve they would resign and get out of Dodge. It wouldn't be worth it.

They serve because of a love of the community, its children, and the value of education. The money is small compensation for the tremendous commitment they make. They are well worth it.

To Anonymus 8:55:
Over the past 13 months these board members have increased their stipend from $3,000 a year to $24,000 per year. Is an 800% pay increase minimal? They also tried to cash in on health insurance benefits. Who are they fooling?

More leaders in education that seem to have little or no interest in students and teachers. These people seem to be too busy giving themselves raises and talking about how much work they do than actually doing one thing for a student or teacher. It is ridiculous how many leaders and administrators do nothing to make schools work better, they are too busy padding their pockets or resumes.

I don't have a problem with $24,000 compensation. It seems very reasonable to me. I want our school board to me made up of ordinary people like me. But if you don't offer reasonable compensation for their time, then the only people who will run for the board seats are the independently wealthy who are out of touch with the real needs in the district. In other words, if you want people on the school board who "have little or no interest in students and teachers" then keep on paying peanuts as compensation, and you will keep on getting monkeys running for election.

Now I heard it all, these board member cease to amaze me. With the mess we are in they go and create more problems with the public by giving themselves raises. What about the kids and the teachers? They should all resign their interests are not with the kids.

These guys should have never been given compensation from two school boards. The $k12,000 a year is more than adequate for what these guys do. These guys should have been forced to run instead of getting more time on teh Board. The guys that were left on the East Side are in the Mayors pockets and therefore retained their seat. Cullimore, Dolan, Smith, and Curtis want to mirco-mange the schools to their benefit. The New Jordan East School Boards need to tell the Mayors and Legislators to get the hell out of Dodge. They were elected to run the District not them. I guess this is not really true considering the Mayors hired Doty over a more qualified educator. I wonder if this whole mess had anything to do with the soccer money?

I have a problem paying someone 24K when two years ago they were paid 3K. This year is more work than ever before due to duplicity. 6K should be fair.

You see they know that the city/county/state budgets are getting squeezed with the recession.

All over the state they are voting themselves pay raises while they can still get away with it.

Shameful!
