BYU fans ZIPP IT, stay on your own article. Lets get this thing called football started already. I cant wait for a great season.
Go UTES.
Dear Palls,
Please stop assuming the position of a mental midget.
What's with the preemptive directive for TDS fans to "ZIPP [sic] it, and stay off our articles? They're not going to go away just because you told them to, and it IS a free country. Stamping out free speech is the TDS' faculty and administrators' MO; not ours.
Who really cares what they say anyway?
--Ute in Philadelphia
With Alex Smith being mentioned in the same sentence as Ryan Leaf as being the biggest busts in NFL history, I can see why you don't want others to post on yewtie articles.
Go Utes! it will be a wonderful test of the Utes. Michigan is out to avenge the appy state loss in their season opener. hopefully the utes do it again this year and humble the almighty wolverine cubs. michigan thinks they are so good they never play nonconference games outside of their own stadium. so let's stick it to them in the big house. make the state of Utah proud. go Utes!
Growing up Jopu got to sit in the stands and watch Michigan beat hapless foes in the comfortable confines of their own stadium. Now this Saturday he will get to experience this as a player.
Michigan 24
Utah 3
It'd be fun to see Chris match his brother's success in another Michigan-Utah game, a catch and a win, for Utah. Utah has a legitimate shot to shock the BCS world with a win in the Big House.

It's too bad these blogs can't be restricted to true fans. Far too many trash-talking children have infested these blogs. "Palls" and "To: Ute fans" with their WEAK "eweties", "zoobies" smack are just two of them.
I know ute fans are thinking their team will be able to beat Michigan. Better get used to disappointment, it ain't gonna happen. After last year's embarrassing loss to Appalachian St the Wolverines are not making the same mistake of taking their first game lightly. I almost feel sorry for what's going to happen to Utah because Michigan's D is so fired up for this game.
Looks like he'll also be mentioned with guys like John Beck, and Ty Detmer, Luke Staley, Brandon Doman, Curtis Brown, Johnny Harline who are known for their lack of production in the NFL.
Not so fast, it took Steve Young about 5 years to pull his head out. Once Smith figures out that playing on the worst team in the league won't do much for his career, he'll sign somewhere else, be the back up for a year or two and then once Peyton Manning retires he'll lead the Colts to another super bowl.
Gee imagine that, Joppru and A'asa are suddenly good enough to play in this game. And it's NOT for sentimental reasons because they're from Michigan or anything like that, Kyle reassures us. But I like his caveat: "He has earned his way into the lineup IN CERTAIN PACKAGES." Would that include the "still early in the 1st quarter" package or the "we got blown out, it's late in the 4th quarter" package? It's funny how Kyle is always trying to put lipstick on the pig.
This is going to be a great game! But I'm a little concerned about some of our players. Joppru? A'asa? What country are these guys from? I mean, I can relate to names like Brian Johnson and such, but where are all these other names coming from? We do still have some Johnsons on the team, don't we? Could somebody please check to make sure our team still has some Johnsons? Thanks.
I'm an alum of the U of U and OSU. It is going to be great to see my two teams beat Michigan in the first game of the season and the last game of the season.
Michigan will be a decent team this year, but the Utes can take them. A new coach, a new system (spread in the Big 10?), seniors who moved on and a general lack of fire in the belly have primed Michigan for another defeat in their season opener.
What is the big deal... if the coach can get these kids in for a play or two in or near their home town then great. they have worked hard and when will they get another chance like this. You are really digging for something negative to say about kwhit aren't you. I mean really don't you have anything better to do. If your beloved mendenhall would have said the same thing you would have stated what a great guy he is, and how much he cares about his kids...
"Not so fast, it took Steve Young about 5 years to pull his head out".
Steve Young started out playing in the USFL for a mega deal and after that league folded he waited his turn as a backup behind Joe Montana until the organization finally made Montana retire so they could have Young play. Please try to get your facts straight so we don't have to explain EVERYTHING to you yewt fans.
Thanks
No, Mendenhall also plays 3rd & 4th stringers in games, like when the outcome has been decided or due to injuries. Or he'll just say that's where this player is from so we're going to get him some playing time. The difference is he doesn't lie to the media that a player has suddenly become good enough to get to play in a certain game (that just happens to be where the kid is from) and it's not because that's where the kid is from. But Kyle is becoming famous for stunts like this as a head coach, just like last year when he tried to justify the on-side kick against Wyoming after his team was ahead by 43 points.
Joe Tiller did a pretty good job implementing the spread in the Big 10, albeit not in his first season.
GO UTES!!!
Michigan is down in their program and may have a rough season with a new coach and no qb. Utah is up and could make this A REAL GAME.
Despite that I would not call this following in his brothers footsteps. Not a good comparison: all-american and leading reciever in Big Blue history vs one game in the stadium. Is that a stretch?
Anyway, go Utes, go MWC!
I'm really pumped for this game. Realistially, this is going to be a tough task to pull off a victory in Ann Arbor. That's a very, very tough venue and a team very rich in tradition (though tradition only counts until kickoff). HOWEVER, it is a game that is not out of reach. If the Utes can play solidly on defense (which is expected), and the offense can establish some reasonable success in both running and passing against a very solid Michigan D, this will be a slugfest. GO UTES!! Start off the year with a great game!!!
...started with Tampa Bay in 1985 after the USFL folded. His 3-yr record as a starter was 3-16, where his TD/INT ratio was a pedestrian 11:21, and completed < 55% of his passes.
Alex Smith's led his team to 7 wins his 1st year alone. His 3-yr tenure with SF produced a TD/INT ratio [19:31} that was slightly better than Young's, whereas his pass completion stats were about the same.
Please try to get your facts straight so we don't have to explain EVERYTHING to you kittens.
As a member of the Ute tribe, it offends me personally when the university that represents our tribe is called names such as "Yewtes". Most of the disrespect is from the BYU fans, the supposed LDS population that considers us their brothers. I would appreciate it if you could honor us and our heritage by calling us by our actual name, the Utes.
Partly because of the name of the school and partyly because I love football, I am very interested in the Utes season. They have all the potential in the world this year and can do whatever they want. I hope they stay focused and motivated for every game, so that the losses to the lesser teams doesn't happen again this year. I believe Coach Whitt has learned his lesson, though, and will correct that problem this year.
Go Utes (notice the spelling please) !!
