"The detour adds1/2 an hour extra to a commute? Close to $150.00 extra for gas?
Lets be realistic here people! It doesn't take a 1/2 hour to get from Santaquin to Orem!!!!!
Over a year ago UDOT had an open house at Santaquin City Hall, In that meeting I recall them asking us if we as residents would like a full closure, which would decrease the time it would take to finish the job or a partial closure and it would take alot longer to complete the job. Most residents that I heard at the meeting were in favor of the FULL CLOSURE! LIVE WITH IT! They are improving our safety! The old Highland drive/SR 198 conncetion was made for horse and buggy not the 5,000 East Bench move ins that use it every day!

It sounds like bike riding and walking could help. Park your cars at the two open buisness and walk home.

If you think you project is dreadful come to American Fork and the pressurized irrigation project for a relief.

If you drive the speed limit along the detour, it does take 15 minutes to get to our church and even longer to get to the elementary plus the 15 minutes to get back. Do the math-that makes 1/2 an hour. If your car gets 17 miles to the gallon like mine does you will spend over $100 extra per month if you continue to go to town as much as before the road block. That doesn't include the gas my husband uses trying to take care of his own business beyond the road block. I'm a busy mother of three and attending all the city meetings just isn't on my agenda. If any of my neighbors had realized what was going to happen with this project I believe we all would have heard about it. Perhaps comments made here earlier were made by someone who lives on the other side of the roadblock?
