After months of fraud, UTA ending token program

Bewildered. Why was there the same token program to begin with that if wasn't compatible between bus, Trax, and Frontrunner? It sounds like perhaps poor planning in human behavior opened to door to this fraud. It's like leaving the chicken coop open. Arcade games, vending machines, even the initial problems with credit card machines all pointed to this occurrence. Hasn't UTA learned from history? Why are there planners in the first place? It's sad to spend our taxpayer's money on UTA and then those that really suffer are those people that really need the service and still pay out of their pockets for the service. With the economy there way it is, people are getting desperate, let's not making easier to cheat, let's make strictly more fair. Perhaps we need to focus more on the common problem of fare payment rather than spend taxpayer money on the recent attention of law enforcement using federal agents with visible weapons looking for terrorists on Frontrunner.

"We're stuck between a rock and hard place," UTA spokesperson Carrie Bohnsack-Ware said. "We can't allow this fraud to go on, but we don't want to inconvenience our riders. This is the best solution we could come up with."

UTA doesn't want to inconvenience its riders - that's hilarious! That's all they do nowadays!

I have lived in several cities with mass transit (unlike many people from Utah who haven't lived elsewhere) including in Europe. UTA does a pretty good job -- it's certainly a lot better than pre-TRAX days. But the point isn't whether or not UTA is inconveniencing someone. The point is that people are cheating and costing other people money and convenience. I have a family members who brags about using game tokens on TRAX. It is thievery, plain and simple. Someday all of these kids who are so clever in beating the system will be the adults who are frustrated out of the wits by all the things that fun-living youth ruin. Everybody needs to just be honest, but since that isn't an important principle in our government and a high percentage of our businesses...how can we expect it from our youth?

There is nothing convenient about TRAX oo the bus system. I ride the TRAX and bus system to and from work everyday. I do not drive.
