I don't believe particularly believe the rumor, but since when are rumors "put to rest" merely because a party denies it? For example, is/was the rumor that John Edwards had an affair put to rest because he denied it?

I hope they change the name to Brighambook.

Than buy a $1B social mess that provides no family history value at all. Whoever believed this in the first place?

I am very disappointed... The Church should consider it.

Brighambook? Nah... that would be the perfect opportunity for them to use the name "Facebook of Mormon: Another Testament of Social Networking"
I don't.... | 6:15 p.m. Aug. 22, 2008
think the church wanted to buy Facebook. I recalled reading somewhere though that members of the LDS church were encouraged to get involved in online blogs etc, to get the church's name known throughout the online community.

Facebook may have been mentioned as a website where members of the church could start using as a venue to share information about the church to those who are not members who may have questions about the church and its mission.

Facebook is a community of diverse beliefs and lifestyles; two thing the Church of the LDS do not understand or tolerate.

SPB: Is that why LDS church can be found among diverse beliefs and lifestyles? blanket statement's like yours serve nothing to promote nor give credible criticism of the Church.
Anyone who knows the youth of the Church can be found befriending those of all lifestyles and beliefs. Also Non-proselyting Missionaries are all over the world serving those in need.

Either way why would anyone ever care. To each his/her own.

LDS Church and Facebook, why not? After all Budweiser was sold to the Belgians.

Everything is for sale. It is the American Way!
