So does this give US Womens Soccer any momentum for the new league?

SheriffPolynice

It was a great win...however, the US got out-PLAYED! Brazil was the better team and created far more scoring opportunitis. The US is guilty of far too many unforced errors in the midfield and just an overall lack of skill compared to Brazil. That being said, the US defense was fantastic, and so was the keeper.

Congrats to the US women!

outplayed?

the game ended 1-0 for American - how "outplayed and overwhelmed" can you be when don't give up a score?

Soccer: The game where being outplayed results in victory. Thank God for "the beautiful game!"

Question?

What kind of a game is soccer, where the "outplayed and overwhelmed" team wins three out of four gold medals?

World Cup

It sure makes one wonder about changing goalies last year...Hope Solo was the best.

Stick to basketball

Outplayed? Did you even watch the game?

Both teams had their moments. As you would expect, Brazil was the more aggressive team through most of the overtime as they searched for an equalizer. But the final shot count (a good indicator of which team "outplayed" the other) was 12-11.....sounds like a fairly even match to me.

And the U.S. dominated the one stat that matters - final score.

Nice job ladies....revenge is sweet!

This is a big win for the US. Brazil were certainly the favorites coming in. And to do it without star forward Abby Wambach makes the win even better. Way to go ladies.

What outplayed

The USA has beaten Brazil the last three times they played them, including the last Olympics. So was America outplayed in each one of those VICTORIES!

Arod!

Fight on Amy, an NCAA title and an Olympic gold medal.... what a year!.... USC has now had a gold medalist in every Olympics for the past 100 years!.

Brianna Scurry...

So, I guess Hope was right. She COULD have stopped those shots after all. My Bad.

Re: What outplayed

The US beat Brazil in the Olympic Final and two warm ups to the Olympics (Brazil played without Marta and a few other stars), but were also beaten 4-0 by Brazil in the Semi Finals of the World Cup just last year.
The last Olympics 4 years ago the US also beat Brazil but that should not be included as the last 3 times they played because the teams have played each other a nember of times the last 4 years. Anyway, just know what you are saying before you say it.
Go US! Who needs Abby Wambach...she makes the teams one dimensional. She is a great scorer but the team actually plays a better style without her. All they do is send the ball to her and rely on her to score. The goal today was a nice combination play that has been missing from the US for awhile.

Women's soccer

You guys realize it is women's soccer? And its the Olympics. The real tournament is the world cup and neither the US or Brazil had anything to do with winning that one. See ya.

RSL

Can we get any of these chicks on RSL? Its just a question, they look like they have game.

re: Women's soccer

Of course we reallize it is women's soccer -- some of us realize that women are athletes too. Thank goodness I'm not your daughter.

Re: Re: Women's soccer

Of course women are athletes, its just more boring in my opinion than men's soccer. And it's still the Olympics.

RE:WOMENS SOCCER

So what have the American men done lately. Before you get on this board and start trashing the women last I checked the men have done Zero in both the world cup and the Olympics.

Re; Outplayed

So what are you trying to say, Marta and a few others didn't make any difference. And by the way Brazil didn't even win the world cup in which they beat the Americans, they choked in the finals as always.

Brazil

In the 14 games Brazil has played the USA over a span of several years USA 13 wins one loss!.
