If it's meant to be Buck will end up at BYU. If not, BYU is so loaded at linebacker we won't miss him. Sounds like he's not actually that good if he's going to walk on at the U. Anyone can understand why a player would be willing to walk on at the Y, but walking on at the U? (hurl)

Hear that Jason? According to "Que sera, sera" you are not wanted at BYU. Perhaps that'll help you in deciding which school to walk-on. Utah is a great way to go. Sakoda was a walk-on too ya know. Now he's a preseason all-American.

GO UTES!!!

Your father, Jason, had an outstanding career at BYU winning the Outland Trophy his senior year. Walkons are always welcome at BYU and many of them have gone on to have very successful careers.

Ty Detmer recruited BYU and he had a pretty successful college career.

It is 1st and 10 on the Utah 20 yard line in the waning seconds of the annual holy war at LES. Utah is ahead 20 to 17. The Utes are trying to hang on to their slim lead while the Cougars are driving for a winning score. The young Buck is now a scholarship linebacker for the Utes who finally gets a sack on the BYU QB. The sack results in a fumble, Utah recovers the ball and holds on for the win!

Que Sera (Or whoever he is) will remember the day he wrote his post about Utah walk ons and hurls his hot chocolate all over his girlfriend and other shocked cougar fans.

Priceless!

Jason Buck is just looking out for his kid. What matters most is a program that will most likely give your kid playing time and how successful they will be playing your boy. Dale Murphy's boy played for USU and actually was just drafted. I would not send my sons to BYU if I thought they would never play unless the free education was the ultimate goal and not the NFL. No need to start calling Jason a trader. Football is a sport not a religion or country.

It's all about where he fits in the best. BYU has always had good backers so maybe Buck wouldn't see the field as much. If Utah wants to play him them let him go there, especially if he can eventually earn a scholarship. I just don't want to see his dad wearing red.

This guy isn't even good enough for a D-1A scholarship. Look, his dad was great when he played for us, but Jr doesn't have what it takes for BYU football. He'll fit right in at the ewe!

They have to walk on at th Y because Jackass Mendenhall gives away all of his scholarship to 10 th graders while they have the guilt trip and cookies from the relief society Presidents to pressure their thinking, or is it the old , " The Lord wants you here " ?
I'll have to ask the lord if he was a football fan.
One more observation. If you have to post a comment as anonymous then this comment must have been written by another Junior high hopeful.
Come on suppose he turns out very good and chose not to go to the Y because of the arrogant attitude from the Blew Bloods and their daughters who write here for the BYU whiners and those disrepectful of the program at the " U "
Remember UTAH Broke the BCS and has wn all of the bowl games this century.
National exposure ?
Utah ESPN, CBSsportsline, USA Today ,Sports Center, New York Times , all gave raving reviews about the " U "
BYU a clip on Telemundo.

I believe that the scholarships offered to the recruiting Class of 2011 don't actually count against the quota until... 2011.

If he has the skills, I am certain that both Coach Whittingham and Coach Mendenhall will offer him opportunities.

BTW, Jason Buck was not good enough to warrant a D-1A Scholarship out of South Fremont High School (Idaho) either. He attended Ricks College for two years. Interestingly, this did not seem to damage his NCAA (Outland Trophy) or NFL Career.

Some kids just don't get the exposure out of High School. This doesn't mean they don't have potential. Jason Buck is a classic example.

Read the article: Tyson Buck is considering the Y and the U, but he would have to walk on at either place. Both BYU and Utah add more respect nationally to him than he will ever add to either. Yes, many great players have chosen to play at Utah and many at BYU. It isn't arrogance to claim better players at one over the other; it just makes you a fan. Utah has gotten up for big games, even in rivalry losses, but it is ignorant to dismiss that BYU has the edge lately (Championships, better bowls, consecutive conference wins).

BTW--you are the only one applying pressure trying to make this about what the Lord wants or doesn't want. For that matter what do you know about the Relief Society. Hate to break it to you, but when Buck gets cookies from girls in college (BYU/Utah) it will have nothing to do with recruiting for the NFL either, but more to do with whether or not girls like him. Guess you never got cookies. Don't be bitter. But don't fool yourself into thinking it was because you weren't good enough to play football at BYU; that's just silly.
