This is a valid claim from the county and the state has been misappropriating taxes funds for many years. It's time this got fixed and taxes go where they are supposed to. The system of collecting and reporting taxes has to be changed with the law suit. In taylorsville we have 3 different taxing boundaries that are regulated by postal zip codes. The zip codes are assigned to cities only if they have a post office in the city. The utility companies collect and distribute the collected taxes by zip code and the cities they are listed in. Taylorsville city, not having a post office or zip code gets its utility taxes sent to West Jordan, Kearns, and Murray. We in Taylorsville don't receive the utility taxes because of this discrepancy. The utility companies will not disclose who is getting the taxes or where they are distributed. City and county boundaries should be the means of collecting and distributing taxes, not postal zip codes. The county is not the only one losing taxes while others are getting windfall taxes from non residents. The cities and states require the collection of sales tax so they should regulate distribution, not utiility companies.

Good grief. Spending tax dollars on both sides to sue is simply ridiculous. Resolve this issue now and do it by straight forward accounting. It is insane that government entities sue each other at taxpayers' expense.

Bob G should check his facts a little better before making accusations. The state is not misappropriating any tax funds owed to the cities. Further, he should know that utility company sales tax revenues are assigned to cities based on Zip + 4, regardless of whether there is a Post Office in that city. Taylorsville, and all other cities in the state, are getting utility company revenue.

Great News... When can they allow people who have been FALSELY CHARGED WITH A SERIOUS CRIME and lose their Jobs and Pension over it... and then have the charges dropped two years into the prosecution (LIKE ME), have the right to sue for BACK WAGES and the RETIREMENT THEY LOST that they would have gotten had they not been FALSELY CHARGED WITH A CRIME THEY DID NOT COMMIT IN THE FIRST PLACE??? That is what I want to know!!!

The government has the right to piss on peoples lives and ruin everything they have built up for 34 years and it is gone because they THINK (Without Proper Evidence) that someone MIGHT have committed a crime and they have no other leads to chase after until two years later when they find the right person and have RUINED the innocent party's life's reputation, his character, his savings, and everything he has built up throughout a lifetime of hard work! I just don't get it! This is supposed to be a FREE SOCIETY? To Hell It Is!!!

another case of idiots running government. ALL branches of government always seem to want more and now they're fighting amongst themselves to get OUR money. ALL branches of government should cut back on spending and maybe there would be no reason to fight over it. By the way; are these the people we pay over 100k a year to use their brains when they do their job?

Another case of the inmates running the asylum. Voters should look at these "public servants" at the next election and administrators should focus on how little they spend, not litigation for more of our money.
