Kobe's kind of like the Dark Night and Jason Kidd has to be Proffesor X in the X-men. I don't know who Booz is though.
The term "hero" or "superhero" should be reserved only for those who do what heroes do, i.e. help others even at their own peril. Heroes do things like pull victims from vehicle accidents, foil assaults or robberies in progress, track down terrorists and prevent mass bombings, or defend life liberty and country through service in the armed forces. Heroes throw themselves on grenades or trip landmines to save their fellow soldiers. Heroes teach school and love children even though they are paid a pittance for their important work. Heroes run up the World Trade Center stairs searching for people to save rather than running down the stairs to escape. Heroes don't seek the limelight, have multi-million dollar endorsement deals, get charged with rape of hotel employees (Kobe), or batter their spouses (Kidd). To call any of these NBA celebrities heroes or superheroes dilutes the meaningfulness of the term as it applies to those who truly deserve it. As Peter Parker's uncle counseled, "With great power comes great responsibility." NBA celebrities have star power, but demonstrate all too little personal or societal responsibility. There are real heroes in this world. Let's not confuse them for selfish millionaire athletes.
