With Mine Own Hand

I did not care for this play and am glad I didn't bring my non member friends! Why is it I almost feel guilty expressing my true feelings? As a fellow Mormon, I almost feel that it's part of our religion to watch and support these things whether we like them or not, and heaven forbid we should say how we really feel. Maybe, like with all church callings, it was really meant for the participants, and I'm happy that it strengthened their testimonies............for entertainment, I'd go see another play, for a nice cat nap, this works well but comes with a price tag!

I didn't care for this play either. Ditto everything you said. Waste of money.

I saw this musical in Portland and was absolutely moved. Those around me exclaimed how much they enjoyed it as well. My children LOVED it! My nine-year-old son asked if I would take him again. The music is inspiring; we got the CD and listen to it everyday and my kids sing along with the songs. Experiencing this musical has opened several discussions as a family about Nephi's journey, ie obedience, choosing the right, prayer. Thank you cast, directors, creators.

With Mine Own Hands was "OK" in the sense that it is wholesome and sticks to scripture, but I CANNOT say it was OK in the sense of being entertaining. I too was fidgety and anxious for it to end. I also recognize that the positive comments made on this forum are bias because they themselves or family members were part of the production. This is a classic case of a producer's love for his material being much stronger than his talent as a playwright. Also, a comment to the keeper of this forum; when you choose to show only positive comments on the main page, you too are censoring everyone's right to review comments from those of us who paid full price to see this play!!! I paid for several tickets and had I read some "real" critique from others besides those involved, I would have made a different choice!
