Cottonwood considers the WHOLE county of Salt Lake as their family.

Come one come all!

I'm looking forward to the Cottonwood vs Layton and Cottonwood vs Pine View games. These games should be good measuring sticks to see if these teams are legit. Until proven otherwise I believe Timpview remains at the top of all teams in 4A and possibly 5A as well. I'm particularly interested to see if Pine View can handle Cottonwoods "physical and intimidating" style of play. If they can, then I believe Pine View could be headed for another match up with Timpview.

SLCguy here, Let ME see

The reality of it is actually this ...... If you have a VERY troubled home life you will reflect that later in life. If you have a great home life with a comfortable home and a stay at home Mom, you will reflect that as well.

Cottonwood is a great place in part because of the mix of lifestyles and range of socio-economics in play. You have multi-millionaires and absolute poverty kids sitting next to each other every day.

It's easy to sit back, point fingers and throw rocks. But WHY does every story that even mentions Cottonwood turn into a public bashing of a guy that did nothing more than donate sizeable sums of money to improve a previously HORRIBLE program?

Yes, kids that have attended and played at Cottonwood have been in trouble. But I have news for you; they had been in trouble LONG before they ever walked through the door at Cottonwood. You might try looking at the glass half full for once and see the successes involved with a certain Colorado LB even MAKING it TO college. Instead of dropping out of High SChool, instead of being involved in gangs, drugs, and shootings.

One other thing, those might be the WORST collection of photos since the DMV started closing on Fridays!

ok, Two other things. After the public abuse that a certain Cottonwood donor takes; do any of you Negatives Nancy's ever stop and wonder why any of the other well to do individuals in this valley don't step up to help THEIR local High School?

Or is that logic just to tough to understand?

Utah County vs. SL County

Timpview is superior to Cottonwood because they can draw from Utah County for their family but C-Wood can only draw from SL County (ha ha)...

Envy

Sounds like a lot of people are jealous out of their skulls that they don't have a donor for their high school.

GET A GRIP AND MOVE ON

First of all I know who my daddy is and know how to spell discipline. Secondly, Cottonwood has a great program that teaches us how to spell discipline correctly. Thirdly, Cottonwood provides great support from the community and from individuals such Scott. You would do well for yourself and your family if you were to focus on the value of your education and associations with great people.

Finally, SLGuy gets it right. Student-athletes are a representative of their family values and upbringing. For once, why don't we give coaches from all schools the credit they deserve for being, quite often, the only saving grace to some otherwise jail-bound teenagers. In many cases where athletes of all walks get in legal trouble, be it drugs or violence, the coach is among the first to show up and take responsibility. Often the only accountability these kids have is to their teams and coaches, and it is these leaders who are working everyday to prevent kids from turning to the streets, where many parents leave them.

West will not finish fifth. Their matchup against East in the last game of the season could be for third place and a home playoff game.

Another idea: GET OVER CATE!!!!!!! It is SUCH a yesterday point of view. While every school probably does not have ONE person who can give what he has, every school has a GROUP OF PARENTS who COULD pool their resources if they CHOOSE TO and provide similar benefits. ALL counties have a healthy mix of rich and poor. What they don't have is a multi-kajillionaire who actually spends 20 hours per week at the school and on the field WORKING WITH THE KIDS AND FACILITIES. It is one thing to give money, another to give time! SHUT UP and start to walk the walk instead of talk the talk and VOLUNTEER to make your school better!!!!!!

Who cares what these kids went through before football? It only matters what they do on the field and after that we should care about. Robbie Anderson of Alta is a walkon at the U of U. Not my choice for 5A MVP? That distinction belongs to Jordan Anderson of Alta, the region 2 mvp despite not even recieving a vote from his own Coach! Cate is a stud for what he has done for Cottonwood!

Half-full

Every school has a laundry list of failures and "what-ifs." Spendy private schools have drug and violence problems, too! It would be nice for once if anyone thought to highlight Cottonwood's Stanley Havili, an oustanding sophmore at USC, or Tony Trujillo at Illinois State, Alex Cate at Oklahoma State, or Matt Martinez at Utah. Haven't we all known the spoiled lazy rich kid who could have been great but wasn't just because Mom and Dad gave them everything? Combine a hard worker with a coach who is not afraid to dole out aggressive and appropriate punishment if necessary and you can give me a troubled youth who overcomes anyday!

RAM PRIDE

Good luck Cottonwood, and East! It will be a pleasure battling it out, for Region 6 supremacy!
Will Cottonwood beat Highland?, will Highland beat East? Will East beat Cottonwood?
Will Region 6 represent in the playoffs, or get wiped again?
Can anyone from Region 6 beat Timpview?
These questions and more will be answered this season!
Exciting!
Go Rams!

Cottonwood

I'm glad that there are so many Utah adults that have nothing better to do than bash a bunch of high school children... Seriously, guys, it's a HIGH SCHOOL. Of course parents are doing everything they can to help their kids succeed. Last I checked, paying for a football field is not the same thing as taking the ball from the kids and playing the game themselves. Cottonwood does well because of the kids playing well. I agree with Ram Pride - it's going to be a great season :)

region 5

ha ha you guys are great but region 5 is better and will be better. how many of you guys made it out of the first rounds... 1 barely. how many made it out of region 5 ... 4 mountain crest, sky view, bountiful, and of course don't forget Bonneville's win over highland.
