Thank you Sheriff Winder and County Council. Now follow through with the rest of the funding to do this right. Even though this may be a very slight tax increase, the benefits would be enormous. The jail needs the space to run programs to help rehab many offenders and the beds for those that just shouldn't be on the street- thereby improving all of our quality of life. The cost of running Oxbow would largely be salaries that would be spent right back into the local economy. Great job Sheriff.

Thank you City Council members. This has needed to be reopened for a long time. People don't seem to be afraid to go to jail anymore because they know they may only be in there for 2 hrs. to 2 days.

Nobody cared when this years funding for the alternative to incarceration drug programs were CUT. Thus allowing Early release on drug abusers without any help..Now that is now fair to ANYONE. It bothers me when things like 9/11 or the train accident in CA happened today you get help and prayers from all but when your battling for your soul nobody is there. Why can't Love always be there? Anybody notice every year in SL Metro the jails 'become' full..Interesting. Money? Now they want this money for a jail under 200 beds. There are beds, there are programs and they don't cost 4.8 million dollars!

Not only have drug programs now been cut, but therapy for sex offenders and patients with mental health issues. The wrong programs are having their budgets cut. Maybe if people received the help they need they would keep returning to jail. The justice system in this state needs help.
