Just curious, where did Sherriff go to HS? Sounds like he has a great background to bring to Millard.

I hope that picture of Pedroza wasn't taken recently - no one is supposed to be in full pads until the 11th of August.

Come on Millard Raida's, get nasty! Beat up those math nerds in the halls inbetween classes. Take that tennis playa's racket and wrap it around his neck. Grab the Selgeas' lunch money and grab a little extra while you're at it.

Listen to your coach. Get nasty and win a championship. That's what it's all about.

Millard Pride!!!

here we go again | 4:03 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
another whitehorse...we bad ,we bad...then flop to a team that took their heart away.
KG | 4:33 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Oh, so the great Coach Sheriff had to go from the West side to the East side of the county to teach the Selgeas how to wrestle and get back to playing real football ... I just wanted to make sure I understood correctly. I guess he must have forgotten the Ax at DHS.
Go Rabbits!!!
RE: Who Cares | 4:55 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
just curious, which school are you from, cause unless your from skyline, west, or east you don't have as many championships as millard. your probably from a golfin school and your all upset they haven't written a rousin article on you. sad

Watch out because South Sevier is ready to rock your world. They are poised to make a solid play-off run his year. Don't underestimate the power of the Rams!
Tough year | 3:57 p.m. Aug. 7, 2008
None of the players on Millard's team are willing to stand up and lead this year. No leaders = No state championship. Sheriff's right, they have to want it more than anybody else does. So far, it's a no show for Millard.
re: 2A rocks | 4:37 p.m. Aug. 7, 2008
haha yeah, ill give south sevier some credit. they are some fighters in a game but good luck beating us at our homecoming. You keep dreamin that dream and maybe someday it will come true. but dont get your hopes up

I wish the best for Corey Morrison and Richfield. That program has been a total disaster since Randy Madsen took over in the early 90's. Paul Messersmith was a phenomenal coach who had Richfield as a perennial contender. Randy Madsen completely destroyed the program in 1 year. All that has happened since then is really just an appendage to his debacle as a coach. Corey has his work cut out for him a 2nd time. I hope the 2nd time around is the charm for Corey. Its difficult to take out someone else's trash. Especially Randy, who ruined football at Richfield. Randy, you know its true. Good luck Corey!

nice try mr. rulebook, but teams are allowed a week long full padded football camp before August 11th.
what?? | 8:49 a.m. Aug. 8, 2008
last years millard team was way better than this years team could ever dream of being.. this years team will be lucky to make it past the first round.. sure the have mr. "all star" clancy mortensen but the only reason he had success last year is because the other weapons teams had to key on last year.. besides clancy isn't that good any way.. i doubt he has the ability to carry the team very far.. i look for a third place finish at best.. nothing near as good as the past two years

ps this team isnt very tough either as coach sherriff says, they are just a bunch of partiers that somehow keep a 2.0 to stay on the team
what? | 9:09 a.m. Aug. 8, 2008
clancy mortensen is a stud and he will tear it up this year watch and see!

ps r team is for real and no one will know tell we strap on!

Coach Sheriff is a very good coach. He does a great job of motivating and preparing his team. His record speaks for itself. The biggest weakness I see with him is when Millard gets up against a team that is also well prepared and well coached Sheriff is routinely outcoached. He is reluctant to make changes and adjustments during the course of the game and falls short in big games. The last two championship games Millard not only got outplayed they got outcoached as well
Good luck Millard | 7:00 a.m. Aug. 12, 2008
I for one thought last year was the most entertaining and exciting team Millard has had in a long time. To see a "really good, nice team" do what they did and in the way they did it made me proud to support Millard football.

I'm sure Coach is exaggerating when describing this year's team - at least I hope so. If it takes a "salty, fight in the halls, high maintenance team full of big jerks" to win a championship I would just as soon watch last year's group hands down.

I'm sure this team will be very successful and probably in a different way than last year but remain classy and mature and do it in the right way.

Let's hope "salty jerks" doesn't translate into football full of cheap shots and foul language or it will be hard to keep going to the games.

Good luck Eagles.

I'm telling you, South Sevier is the real deal. They are flying under the radar but here in a few short weeks, the world will know, South Sevier at the top of 2A South Region. Millard: beaten, San Juan: hammered, Richfield: pulverized, Beaver: embarrassed. yes, the world will know who the king of 2A football really is. Remember, I told you first.
carter | 5:10 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
just look back and remember the team we had in '01. we had a little of everything and every type of personality. good luck fellas, see ya soon
to 2a rocks | 5:31 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
once again, you and beaver will be engaged in a fierce match to see who will take last in 2a south. you have no size, ability, or have kids with the mental and physical strength to get it done. take a note out of your buds from north seviers book and try your hand at 1a. thats the only chance you have.
Stunned Fan..... | 8:48 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
I am amazed and stunned at the comment made about Richfield. In the first place their is "NO WAY" that the back-up quarterback from last year Mr. Travis Tuttle threw for 1,300 yards. Being the back-up to the best quarterback that Richfield had for many years he did not take that many snaps and when the coach giddings {History} started Travis in the quarterfinal game and let his First String Starter not take a snap from center that was a defining moment for travis as he was slow and threw 5 {yes 5} Interseptions and 5 {Yes 5} Sacks that allowed South Summit to score and score again and again. However I do belive that what was said about zack cropper and J.D. Michaelsen was without a doubt a correct statement.
re: what? | 1:45 a.m. Aug. 13, 2008
ha now i have to say, what?? to you. becaus the mr. all star clancy mortensen is just that. A freakin all star. Not only that but millards line this year is gritty and big and has full ability to push anyone in 2A around. after that you have our defense this year, it lacks dustin kunz and his over 130 tackles last year but has a strong linebacker core that no one will be able to run against. So clancy cant be there every play, we have a quaterback that no one seems to expect greatness from. when the truth is, he can rack up just as many if not more running yards than grant barber did. Brad dallin will shock alot. our team this year is nothing like the last or year before but this is a really good team and some seriously great results will come. ha and hey, were Millard, we always gotta shot at state
Millard always succeeds | 9:47 a.m. Aug. 13, 2008
Different team but there will still be success. Millard's tradition and their coaches know how to get players to play.

South Sevier is a basketball school. If they do as well as their "fan" thinks they will that would certainly be a surprise. Grand can not possibly do worse against Millard than they did last year when they got beat 36-0 and the game was over at half-time.

Clancy will certainly have the disadvantage of not having other weapons around him for the other team to worry about but there is no question he is for real. Great size for a running back and break away speed. Dallin is too short to be affective in the passing game like we were last year but he is a good runner and a gritty competitor.

Big line and Sherrif is the coach so watch out 2A Millard will be in the mix in the end.
Stunned Fan | 1:17 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
What world were you living in last year, Travis Tuttle started all year long, Jessie Harttle did not play much until 3 or 4 game in to the year, then Coach Giddings started rotating them and it really seemed to work pretty good, in fact it was the South Sevier game when Travis and Jessie both tore up SS. And by the was Jessie threw 2 of those picks against South Summit. You are obviously way out of the loop, and probably a family member of Jessie. Jessie was a great QB but he did not care about football, he did not even come to a work out all summer long, including summer camp in Kanab, but he found time to play baseball that week for the American legion.
2A Rocks | 1:38 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
Say what you want about the Millards, San Juans, Richfields etc., but South Sevier will prevail. South Sevier has rocked Richfield 5 of the last 6 years. last year was luck because Roberts got luckily knocked out of the game.
luckily knocked out | 7:53 a.m. Aug. 14, 2008
Roberts is out of all of this year's games too. Ssev is a basketball school. Wait until they actually win a few games before you get all excited.
to 2a rocks | 5:25 p.m. Aug. 14, 2008
so you try to proclaim your football supremacy by saying how you've beaten a consistently mediocre team? congrats, but that's not gonna get you wins over millard or san juan and probably richfield this year. your blitz oriented defense is desperate at best trying to cover up your inability to match up with your opponents strength and talent. your offense is a passing game that cant pass. for the strength of the region i hope what you are saying is true so the southern teams can be more prepared come playoff time. but i'll believe it when i see it.
2a football for wimps | 9:46 p.m. Aug. 21, 2008
2a football is seriously just little kids in a sandbox compared to 3,4,&5a. You guys need to see how real men play football
2A for wimps? | 11:50 p.m. Aug. 21, 2008
well, you can say wimp all you want with your enrollment of four times ours. But how about you come play some 2A schools and see how bad your boys hurt in the morning cause i guarentee they wont forget the intensity, and hard hitting aggressiveness that 2A has. It gets old having this city guys get on here and comment how your big schools could beat the tar out of ours. ha well i sure hope you can with that many kids or its just sad. Its like saying, well oh, our seniors can dominate our freshmen. Well duh. But if you feel good about a 2A team not being as supreme as you then right on. More power to ya
