Offices adjust hours as 4-day week begins

pastries and energy drinks are sure going to get us motiviated to stay an extra 2 hours. Those two hours away from my family and time I need to study. Oh wait you dont have to stay longer because you dont schedule things past 5pm so you can be with your family. The savings dont out way the cost. You still are heating and cooling a building 40 hours whether its in 4 days of 5.

Thanks for nothing gov. Now I will have to take time off from my job to get things done at DMV or Driver License, since they will not be there on Friday, which is my day off. Really helps the public out, NOT! Now everyone else will be in the same line from 5-7pm waiting for the SLOW workers and getting even more frustrated with our state government. I love Utah, but hate the way it is run, our do as I say form of government.

I agree whether you heat 4 days or 5 days, it is still 40 hours, where is the savings?

The part I love is the commute time. I used to average 15 minute commute in the morning and 20 minutes at night. Thanks to the change in hours, the commute now takes 20 minutes longer per day, so my weekly commute time, on 4 days instead of 5 has increased by 45 minutes per week where I sit waiting in traffic. So how does that cut the pollution? I was better off with the five days.

I used to car pool, but the person I ride with is also a state worker but their agency was not allowed to go on 4 -10's, so no more car pooling, one more car on the road. Benefits beyond belief!

People. It's not the end of the world. I happen to like the change. I have crazy hours at my job and so it's nice to actually be able to get some of those little things done after work rather than having to take more hours off that I don't have. I'm glad I don't have to spend my vacation time going to the DMV etc. anymore.

I was at my hairdresser's yesterday. She normally takes Fridays off, but now she is going to change her schedule to accomodate those state workers who will be off on fridays. That made me think of all the other service out there that are going to be effected by this. Lots of these state workers won't be able to drop their car off at the mechanics (they usually close by six) and what about going to the dentist office? Many dentists are closed on Fridays. What about the doctors office? Some close on Fridays. I don't see how the 4 day work week will be a benefit.

I worked 3 13 hour days for smiths pharmacy for a long time. Lets work 3 thirteen hour days and lock up for the next 4. It makes just as much sense.
