Hopefully this injury will linger all year.

Go Utes!!!

What has Austin spent his summer doing? He must not be living right....
Collie | 9:35 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Guess god is not on his side this year.
NOOOOOO! | 9:36 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Hope this is one of those quick-healing kind of stress fractures.
We need Collie | 9:42 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Let's hope he heals quickly and completely. We need Collie. If we want any hope to run the table, we have to have our key players stay healhty.

We will do it!
James | 9:46 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
When, this is how you know you're living right, on and off the field.
Ute fans... | 9:48 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
please leave. There are Mormons on the Ute team, should we wish injuries to them????? Rivalry can bring out the worst in people as seen on some of these posts.
Utes Living Right | 9:54 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Utah is BCS bound!!! All the way baby!!! Sorry Cougs you're OUT!!!
Frank Drebin | 9:56 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
You are supposed to capitalize "God", you godless heathen!!
Welcome to the Ute's World | 9:59 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
I'm sure he'll be ready before any meaningful games. Try losing your quarterback, running back, top receiver and top lineman in one year. It sucks! Even as a Utah fan, I hope Collie comes back. We want to beat BYU at their full strength.
Ha | 10:00 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Not.
Living.
Right.
Off.
Field.

Ha.
Atlas Shrugged | 10:07 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
The all time best was when Lenny Gomes said of Utah players that one day 'they would be pumpin my gas!'

In any case, Cillie will be back and just fine. Let the rivalry smack talk continue.
Ugh.... | 10:10 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
The comments about him not living right have nothing to do with him being mormon and everything to do with him being a self-righteous punk, and I don't think they are from Ute fans only. Just people who recognize Karma and hypocrisy when they see it.
Injuries | 10:08 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Injuries are a part of the game. Someone else will get an opportunity to step up. The pool of receivers will share the balance of reps available because of the injury to Collie. Someone else will get a look at returning punts.

Rest easy Cougar Faithful.
Tyler | 10:09 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Maybe he will redshirt and you UTE fans will have instead of 1 year get 2 years of Collie and Jacobson... Yeah now thats scarry...

Jacobson be back next year for a season with Collie...

SCARRY HUH!
Collie | 10:09 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
He's an awesome receiver and all but the kid really needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and handle success like a man. Now the ute fans are going to be jumping all over this because of those stupid comments he made.
It's nothing | 10:20 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
This is a classic example of the media just trying to get the fans riled up. Collie may have a little pain, but he'll be fine.
Anonymous | 10:24 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
As far as the snarkiness of the ewets go, it's 4th and 18 and Harline is still open in the endzone. The ewets can talk smack, but the gods of woof are against them.

I predict:

ewets 3
Cougars (Blessed be the Lord's team) 84

and the Cougars (The mighty army which has come forth) will be throwing in fifth stringers and cheerleaders in unsuccessful attempt to keep the score down.
Hope | 10:48 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Collie gets better.

Way to be Ute fans...what a bunch of pathetic losers.

Alpine Ute | 10:47 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
There is no "I" in fibula.

Wait, do over...

There is no "team" in tibia.

Whatever.

If one guy is crucial, then you don't have much of a squad. I'm sorry for anyone's hurt, but why do football teams (like Cecil B. DeMille movies) have casts of thousands and costs of millions, if not to allow some hungry second- or third-stringer the opportunity to breathlessly beg the coach: "Send me in!"
I remember. | 10:49 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
After reading all of these yewts trash, I couldnt help but remeber all the trash they talked last year oh and the year before. "its our year" "BYU sucks" etc.... then what happend....BYU WON! Both years!!!!
I love it!! you guys keep bringing it. I understand thats all you have this year until the inevitable lose for you yewts.
so silly | 10:53 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
bad things happen........even to good people.
Omer.. | 10:56 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
this is another injury caused by omer..

he's too old school w/ too much conditioning throughout the year, rather than focused speed training which gets players FASTER and causes less strain..

and yes, I do this for a living, and I know what I'm talking about.

BYU had the injuries last year attributed to Omer, so this isn't a new thing.
Classless | 10:57 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Do you think the blessing from living right are money, fame, and success in all you do.

Many time the blessings come from trials, hardships and things that make you stronger. Sometimes the blessing are there to help humble you.

Austin Collie is a kid. However, I cannot fault someone who tries to live his life right.

7/13 posts so far have been Ute fans slamming God, living right and mormons.

When Utah had all of the injuries last year, BYU fans did not get on and gloat. Injuries are not something to revel in.

Class, such as was shown by "Welcome to Utes World" shows that all Ute fans aren't lacking.

Stress Fractures are not always season ending injuries. Since the Ute response to Collie was so strong last year, I am sure Austin will be up for the Ute game. I don't think he is a player the Utes really want to Piss off, and even if he doesn't play, these type of comments will only help focus his team.

But, hey, one post cannot stop the jealousy of the Utes.

Go ahead and keep the hate rolling. It only makes your lives darker and more miserable.

Wow | 11:14 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
ha ha Utah fans really took collies words hard. Its been like 5 months and their still crying ha ha
Phenom | 11:13 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Even if he's hurt, he's still open
ute fans so full of hate | 11:27 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
you gloat about somebody's physical injury?
Whoa Nellie | 11:43 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Just what exactly did Collie say that could be viewed as a stupid comment by anyone with a normal brain wave function? Don't come crying with quotes from the media. I've seen and read them and he said nothing that was offensive to anyone but the foolish.

And no Ms. Ugh, Collie is not a self-righteous punk, but rather a self-confident gifted football player. The BYU/Utah rivalry would be much more enjoyable if the obnoxious vocal minority of Utah fans did not have such a holier-than-thou attitude toward the BYU program, school and the rest of the conference. Stick that in your drink and stir it awhile.
Red Blood | 11:58 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Save it, cougar fans. When BJ went down last year, you were piling all over the Utes. Come to think of it, you still pile on him.

Before you chastise Ute fans for revelling a little in collie's situation, go read cougarboard and see how "righteous" you all really are.

As for collie: good player...BIG mouth. He should learn to keep his yap shut and just play. He should have taken example from cam jensen...not curtis brown.
Magic Happens | 12:02 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Must have been an unrighteous summer for Brother Collie.
Sad for Utes | 12:05 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Hey BYU fans, just let them have this one. The Ute's don't have a lot to be happy about, so let's just give this one to them. There isn't enough positive talk going on in their camp so they need to talk about something that happened last year. Let them rip on Collie, it ultimately won't mean a thing, and it will make it so much more enjoyable when Collie shreds their defense this November.
no worries | 12:10 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Sorry Ute fans. With or without Collie the Cougars will be formidable. The program has a lot of depth these days.
Classless yewt fans | 12:22 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
What do you expect from yewts, The only way they can even hope to win is for most of the cougars to be in the hospital. Shows how desparate they are when they are gleeful at the cougar stars being injured. To paraphrase Arnold, "He'll be back." And I hope he reads the moronic posts of yewt fans (alll seven or eight of them).
Enter Name | 12:38 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Here we go. BYU 0 and 3 to start the season. Keep smiling.
Ute Fan | 12:36 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Well, well. Looks like Kewger fans can dish it out, but can't swallow it when it is shoved back at them.

Just what I expected.
A year ago | 12:37 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
I cringed when Collie made those comments. Now he's hearing about it.
Jim Tills | 12:44 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Loss of Austin would be considerable. His talent, skills and commitment to excellence are known and unquestioned. A stress fracture can take six weeks to six months to fully heal depending on the severity. Hopefully, it isn't that bad and he'll be ready by the Washington game, if not the year's first game, August 30th. Coach Mendenhall put it down as one of six priorities for fall camp---few injuries, expecially to key players in leadership positions. This one hurts if it's more serious than currently revealed. To those who had the misfortune of actually writing cheap shots about a worthy opponent's injury, (probably spoiled disgruntled juvenile BYU haters) the joy you feel from expressing garbage comments when an opponent is hurt puts you in a class known as "losers." Remember: "As a man sows, so shall he reap." What goes around comes around. Give appropriate encouragement to all combatants on the field of battle. As a man with his doctorate from the U of U, I am appalled at the callous thoughtless comments from fellow alumni and current students. BYU represents the Church, and BYU's success translates into gospel success. In other words, their success is our combined success.
No body special | 12:42 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Wow, what a great rivalrey. I am so impressed with the tough games these two schools always play. Both teams are class acts, and both leave it all on the field! These last couple of years have been seperated by one play per game! That is so awesome and rare.Last year when the Utes lost 3 critacal players I was so bumbed for them. Though I am True Blue I love it when Utah beats out of state teams....good for them.
I really hope Collie get's better soon, I love to watch him run and catch....he is so awesome. So stay healthy and safe out there....and let the adventure/combat begin! Good luck to both teams......but I hope the cougars can best those tough Utes again this year.....we'll see.
Big time Ute fan | 12:50 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
I think if Collie does end up in the hospital, then the Utes will only need two guys to cover him to make sure he doesn't get open.
Below Classless | 12:52 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Ha, I knew all along the utes were the worst fans in the league, now there's poof.

The utes are celebrating an injury to a star player. I hope the DJ's on the radio pick up on these bottom of the barrel fans.

Utah you cant take it back, it's in writing, you have been exposed! Not only are you classless you are bigots! Thanks for driving your Mormon fan base to the good old blue!
LOL | 1:16 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
LOL, I laugh so hard at all the jabs that get thrown around by both sides. I am a UTE Faithful and wish Collie a speedy return. After all, I want the Cougars to be at full strength when we beat them this year.vAnyhow, the rivalry lives on and all you silly kids will always talk smack! It should be a great game this year, two top 25 ranked teams going at it. BYU cannot get lucky 3 years in a row...I think Utah beats them and gets back on top of this rivalry.
Can we? | 1:18 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
I'm a Ute, went to the U and bleed red! Having said that, I hope that this self-rightous boy gets better. I really dont like injuries for any team but they happen. I'd also rather the Utes beat the self-rightous BYU team and fans when they are fully healthy.

BYU fans have such a short term memory and they forget that they piled on the Utes injuries last year. You bring alot of this talk upon yourselves Coug fans and players.....God does not care about BYU football, nor does God favor BYU.

In the end, I'm still in the hopes of some educated sports talk but realize that its not going to happen. Now lets say a prayer, live self-rightously and see who wins what should be an epic matchup this year. Will it be the wicked and godless Utes or the self-rightous Cougs?
Time frame | 1:31 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
The time to heal a stress fracture depends on location and how deep the fracture is in the bone. Best case is in the foot where it can take as little as three weeks. Worst case is in the pelvis where it can take 6 to 7 months. A stress fracture in the tibia can take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. The key is not to come back too soon or you could cause a complete break. Our prayers are with any player from any team who gets injured. I'm pretty sure there is not one coach or player at Utah who is happy about this. They have a lot of respect for each other and no one likes to see a fellow competitor go down regardless of what a very small percentage of moronic fans might think.
michael | 1:50 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
1. Those wishing ill of Collie are Y fans trying to get a rise out of other Y fans to make U fans look bad.
2. If statement #1 is not the case, I urge the U fans that wish ill or are thankful for injury to opposing players to burn everything that they have that has the color red on it, we do not want you!
3. As far as Austin Collie's living right comment; do not assume it is a fact that he actuallty is living right.
Keep it coming | 1:51 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Collie could be the ute secondary on crutches.

Pile on utes. It shows your selfrighteous pious selves and it will hurt more when you lose...again.
Anonymous | 1:54 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
We don't know how long Collie has had the stress fracture - so until a definitive answer comes, one way or the other, I would admonish my fellow Utes to SHUT UP!

To gloat in the injury of another is pathetic and reflects poorly on MY University of Utah.

As for me, I suspect that Collie will be healthy and ready to go when need be. I also believe that the moronic posts on this story will only serve to motivate him more, and I for one don't want him playing with any more motivation than he already has.
Overstated | 1:54 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
Austin's injury is not that serious and be playing this year, sorry Ute fans. The DN made much too big a deal of it.
Repent | 1:57 p.m. Aug. 2, 2008
As soon as he repents everything will be well. Thats strait out of his book of discourses. Nothing bad happens if you keep the commandments. Book of AC 5:17.
