GAY

I am so thrilled.

jackhp

Well that does it! Society is about to implode and civilization as we know it is doomed . . . nice knowing you all.

Stenar

YAY! Take THAT, Mitt!

Tai H.

You can blame the previous govenor, Willard Mitt Romney, for this debacle. He legislated the gay civil unions which only facilitated and enabled this new legislation.

John Pack Lambert

The day we will see if states laws refusing to grant recognition to same-gender marriages performed elsewhere can be upheld in court is fast approaching.
Marriage is under attack. I do not care what people say if right. Homosexual acts remain condemned of God.

This is bad

I really hope those in Massachussetts wake up and do something to reverse this. It isn't good for Massachussetts, for the U.S., for families, for society, for children, for anyone.

And don't start with the charges of "hate" and "bigoted", I don't hate gay people and I don't know anyone who does. I don't drink or smoke pot, and while I think those are also bad for society, I don't hate the drinker and pot-heads.

Homosexual behavior isn't natural and will have a detrimental effect on society if it is embraced. The traditional family, with all its imperfections, is by far the best family unit for everyone.

Those who struggle with same-sex attraction need therapy, in addition to unconditional love. There IS a difference between loving the individual and despising the behavior. Just try raising children.

AAAAaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Look out!! The sky is falling!! Gays can marry in Mass. The sky is falling!!!!!...it soon will be....I know it will...okay, false alarm.

This is great news!! But just wait and see who the first doomsayer is that says this is the first step to marrying: Your children, your pet, your cousins, toasters, computer key boards, house plants etc. NOT to mention the fact that POLYGAMY is just THAT much closer to becoming a reality (again).

Great job Mass. And to think we here in Utah are still arguing over out dated liquor laws and sky bridges. But I have faith that we'll get into the 20th century any decade now.

You can blame the citizens of Massachusetts, NOT Mitt Romney, for voting gay civil unions into law.

lost in DC

Tai, the Mass supreme court told Mitt he either had to allow civil unions or gay marriage, he chose the former as less repulsive. Find out the facts before you go running your mouth (fingers).

Just glad for amendment 3, which means we won't have to recognize these monstrous unions.

AZ

Yeah, but those 'marraiges' won't be reconized in any other State. (Well, maybe Vermont & California)

To John P Lambert,

Please find a job, date or get married. You have way too much time on your hands for being 27 years old. These are the most productive years of your life. Take the family on a picnic, read to them, do something. When you get old and grey and retired like me, then start posting. I'm worried for you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Jessica

Everyone, stop wasting your time and go back to what you were doing. Gay marriage, whether you support it or not, is going to be legal in the entire United States in a year or two. It has already started. There is nothing you can do to stop it. If you think you are making a difference by voicing your opinion, you are also delusional. It's over. Gay marriage has arrived.

VOR

when are some of you going to learn that you cannot force your will on others, and that the State of Utah cannot do the same to those living in other States. Sorry fella's.

Iconoclast

Utahans should have to look no further than Alberta as an example for gay marriage.

Despite its conservative political and religious leanings, the Alberta government rejected calls to enact legislation overriding the Charter of Rights after the Supreme Court of Canada struck down Alberta's existing gay marriage restrictions.

The conservative grass roots rallied, the evangelical Christians cried foul. and Alberta's substantial Mormon population prophesied the decline and fall of 'traditional' moral family values.

In crisis mode they demanded the government do.... something!

Premier Ralph Klein stood his ground and enacted new legislation, respecting the Court and the Charter of Rights, recognizing gay marriage.

The result to date has been a deafening yawn.

In actual fact their have been very few gay marriages and those that have occurred have by and large solemnized commitments that previously existed.

Rights for property, health, death, hospital visitation and family legal structure in marriage dissolution are now extended to all citizens.

This is the way it should be.

There is nothing left to argue about so the Mormons have gone on to worry about more weighty moral matters that are of cosmic significance.

Such as women having two holes in one ear.

@ Anon

I blame the citizens of Mass. for having the intelligence to do the right thing.

Crack up..

Ok I can understand that people feel that gay marriage is an abomination to God. That is your belief and you have the right to believe it. But people also have the rights to make there own choices and decisions. You are not God's judge and you have no right to keep basic rights from those who do not choose to live the same type of life that you do.
Same sex marriage does not ATTACK the sanctity of marriage. If that particular word causes you pain, then consider it a legal union unsanctioned by God. The whole "attack on marriage" statement is just dumb and I have never heard a good argument that even explain that. Read in the paper there are plenty of regular old male/female marriages and relationships out there that do a good job of destroying marriage. So get off your high horse.

Weaping and wailing

The neocons did their usual "this is the end of the world" schtick when prayer was not allowed in public school. They wailed and wept when they couldn't censor film, tv, books or the internet.
They freaked out when they couldn't stop a woman from exercising her personal reproductive rights.
Now they are losing their minds over two individuals legalizing their union.

They are all withering up and blowing away.

Thank God!

Robert Oh

What, Marriage for Gays now and the sun still came up this morning? Men still love their wives; children are still being raised by their biological parents?

Oh wait, God did send the earthquake to California because of their Supreme Court justices. I guess Hes still got things under control.

To: this is bad:

"Just try raising children."

Try telling that to the young men @ BYU who underwent shock therapy @ BYU in the 1960's. How about the young men (and women) who tried to marry, had kids and then left, broken hearted that they could not live a lie.

Being gay is not a choice.

Richie

For the love of Pete (and his partner, Steve)!

Who cares if homosexuals can marry! I have yet to hear a valid argument.

People keep saying that it degrades the family, marraige, children, family values, WHATEVER, but no one has said HOW.

What I have seen is plenty of gay couples who are committed to a monogamous relationship, and would be much better parents than many straight couples who have kids. I would rather see a child adopted by a gay couple than stay in an orphanage or in the foster care system.

I am not gay. I am happily in a straight relationship with a woman I love, and if someone can find happiness and joy in the arms of someone of the same sex, then I wish them all the happiness that I have.

On the other hand, to quote Peter Griffin, "Let 'em get married and be miserable like the rest of us!"
