It continues. The government malfeasance and general lunacy. It still blows me away to think that the nation that once took the "rule of law" seriously, is now being degraded by a criminally neglectfull administration and democratic party. Wow!

And the current immigration system fails yet another victim, again a child.

When will our legislature get the courage to enforce measures that will keep the illegals out of our state.

Illegal immigration is a problem for many reasons: crime, corruption, depressed wages, social breakdown, etc. Instead of complaining about the current crop of politicians aiding and abetting illegal aliens, let's start doing something about it: VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE! That's what I recently helped do in the 3rd Congressional District. Chris Cannon has been carrying water for the illegal alien lobby for years. Through voter education and activism, concerned voters were able to replace Cannon with a candidate that listens to them concerning this issue.

Around 1998, Salt Lake Police Chief Reuben Ortega stated repeatedly that half of all Salt Lake City crime was caused by ILLEGAL aliens.

One may quibble about exact numbers, but no one can deny that a significant percentage of crime in Utah is a direct result of ILLEGAL aliens among us.

How many more killings, rapes, robberies, gang-shootings, child molestations, burglaries and drug dealers are we willing to tolerate before we get serious about ENFORCING THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS?

Yes, we welcome LEGAL immigration, and honor those hard working men and women who want a better life for their families, and are willing to OBEY THE LAW. Including IMMIGRATION LAW!

No place in Utah should tolerate sanctuary for ILLEGALS! No drivers' license, no tuition breaks, no welfare, no free medical care. NOTHING!

Enforce our immigration laws at the border, the workplace, the schoolhouse, on the highways, and at the welfare office.

Anyone arguing that immigration laws should not be enforced, please tell us all the other laws we can safely ignore! Speed limits, income taxes, job safety, emissions tests? Come on, which laws can everyone else ignore?

Are we are a nation of laws, or not?

I totally agree with outraged. Down here on the border, we see an incredible amount of crime from illegals. Unfortunately, we have many people who actually live across the border who finangle ways to get citizens benefits all the time. Then we have the coyoteros and the crime they cause bring truckloads of illegals through. Not to mention the mules who pay for their passage by hauling loads of drugs on their backs. And the people killed in accidents caused by the crazy driving of the drivers of the stolen cars loaded with illegals. Not to mention the over 300 kidnappings per year where the illegals are imprisoned by the coyoteros and held in terrible conditions to obtain even more money from their families. It is a CRIMINAL situation and MUST be addressed.
We need much better laws for legal immigration of those who want to become citizens, a well-monitored guest worker program with no citizens' benefits for those who just want to come up and work. AND we need strict enforcement of our current laws about illegal immigration.
I'm tired of the politicians who ignore this problem to buy votes to stay in office.

It is a good thing that this crime was committed in Taylorsville rather than SLC. Since SLC is a sanctuary city. This guy would never have been identified by the SLC police as an illegal alien. SLC police chief Burbank even lobbied against other municipalities checking (287g) those booked into jail for immigration status. Involvement by illegal aliens in drive by shootings and gangs in SLC have not changed this sanctuary policy.

It's time we LEGAL citizens TAKE our country back from our corrupt politicians who are giving it away to the illegals who come here. It's outrageous what is going on in our country now. I agree with "Outraged"!
If our government had a backbone, they would STOP giving them free welfare, free medical, free schooling, instate tuition, etc... They would self-deport if we stopped the insanity and enforce our laws on the books!!! Our government is incompetent to take care of it's taxpaying LEGAL citizens.
If something isn't done soon, we WILL lose our country. In areas of Texas, they are now demanding the Americans learn Spanish to accommodate the Hispanics here.. WHAT!!! I'm sick of it!! THEY chose to come Here...THEY SHOULD learn English and come here LEGALLY...

Tell that to your Congressman and Senators... oh wait they don't care what the citizens think... sorry bad idea.

Sounds like none of you have actually known anyone who tried to become a citizen legally.
