We don't think there's a crisis of open spaces in the State because something north of 60 percent of Utah's land is owned by the Feds or the State.

Or, to put it another way, there's more places for a mule deer to live in Utah than a human.

Considering a lot of the humans I've met, we're probably better off with the mule deer.

Land owned by the State or by the Feds is not necessarily protected open space. It is used for many things, including recreation and natural resource development. Only land designated as wilderness is truly protected from development and road building. Less than 2% of Utah land is designated wilderness.
