I'm still not used to the fact that people in Utah don't have names. How are police reports, property records, drivers' licenses, insurance documents, payrolls, newspaper articles, other records, etc., tracked?

Maybe we Floridians should start doing this.

A St G Person

Because of the fact that children are involved, the names of all person are involved are not released to the public. Obviously, if police found a valid restraining order against the man, there are names to track in databases.

Please! I may have been born yesterday, but by Goldarn, I stayed up all night studying! Are you seriously trying to tell me that none of the neighbors know this came down? Get real!

ttfiend2003

More and more proof that people need serious psychological testing before having children...weeds out bad genes before they can happen!

TO KIRK......

If you don't like the reporting done herein then stick with reading the rags from Florida. What is your fascination with Utah's crime reporting anyway? Where you going to call the family to offer condolences; knock on their door and give them some jam? Sometimes privacy is the better part of responsible journalism. If you want papparazzi-style reporting then maybe try going back from whence you came.

Not that it justifies anything, but I know the family, and this woman should not have been raising those kids. Their 4 year old wanders the street at 11 at night, she is not a responible parent. Obviously, the dude lost it, I am not justifying him in any shape way or form. He has just inflicted on his children something that he will never be able to take back. But, this woman was not innocent, truth is always stranger than fiction, and there is no black and white in this case, just shades of grey. My heart goes out to those kids. The father would have gotten custody if he would not have blown his top. Those kids got not parental support from her. ttfiend2003, you have no idea the implications or the ramifications of your comment, either it was meant as a joke (a bad one), or you have never studied history. You will excuse me for not taking it lightly. The father will deserve whatever sentence he gets, but I pray for those kids being raised by that woman.

Contrary to the unintelligent... someone needs to listen to the man being charged. There is a REASON for an outburst of this sort! Yes, it is tragic that the children have had to witness this-- and they will carry this with them all their lives.....
But what did this "woman and her new boyfriend" do to contribute to this incident? Think about it..........

There are NO INNOCENTS except the children.

L. G. KIRKPATRICK

My point is that public awareness of who is accused of doing what is a great deterrent, to the majority of people, to not do the things which are frowned upon by the majority of the members of a society. It might just be possible that removing the factor of public anonymity will cause a few people to reconsider some choices.

Other possibilities are that friends, relatives, neighbors, acquaintances, members of a church, co-workers, etc., of people having trouble distinguishing which acts are frowned upon by "polite society", can be assisted and helped by persons who can offer some solace, a comforting word, a shoulder to lean on, etc. Also, someone who is a witness to what's going down might have knowledge of other pertinent facts in the situation, such as "Oh, no, I saw that event happening, and I know that (the accused) WAS NOT the perpetrator, and I can provide to the police a more accurate description of the perpetrator."

That being said, I will offer sincere apologies to everyone who was offended by my remarks, and I will respectfully refrain from further inflicting myself upon those of us who prefer to imitate ostriches.

What in the world were you trying to say?

I think jordin logan may have been upset by my first post to this thread.

To refer back to my own post at 5:50 a.m., today, I would refer those who may be curious to see what published names in relations to accusations might look like, so (since we can't post URLs)Google "McAlester News-Capital" (without the quote marks). When Page 1 rolls up, look under the M of the newspaper's masthead. Click on "Local News", and scroll down the resultant column on the left, to "Police/Courts". Click on "Pittsburg County Felony Reports", "Pittsburg County Misdemeanor Reports", and "Pittsburg County Dispositions". The second set of Felony Reports and Misdemeanor Reports are not the most recent Reports, but will include some of the Reports included in the Dispositions. Older Reports are no longer included in the current daily/weekly articles. My friends and family who still live in the McAlester area tell me that these articles published are an effective deterrent to most repeated aberrant behavior. Thank You. I'm really bowing out of this article after this post.

Neither do I, human, neither do I. Maybe when he/she/they/it get home from the Pioneer Day parades and to-do's, we'll get a response and can at last get to the bottom of the mystery. I sincerely believe that folks who want to post, should be read. And responded to.

You folks out there in God's Country, please enjoy the parades and festivities in good weather. Here in Central Florida, we're having rain and T-Storms. We don't have any wide-appeal public outdoor celebrations going on, unfortunately; and we need the rain, so it's welcome and appreciated. Plus it keeps the temp from the mid- to upper-80's down to the mid-70's. I've turned off my A/C and opened the doors and windows for a while. Much better!

By the way, Utahs, "HAPPY PIONEER DAY!" I wish I were there helping celebrate, and enjoying with all of you. At least it would keep me and my mouth out of these comment boards!

I think what jordin logan was trying to say:
"That's just horrible what happened, more so because there were kids involved."

translation to me meant: It's sad that this sort of thing happened. And what makes the situation worse is that there were kids in the house and the father of those kids wanted to inflict pain and suffering upon them by making them watch the killing he was trying to perform.
Does that help?

Couple of Questions

1. Why was his bail set at only $50,000? This guy should have been ordered to be mentally evaluated on top of bail and released pending the outcome. He's obviously got something wrong, even if it's just a rage kind of thing.
2. Was she at home with the boyfriend? Maybe he came to get the kids and found them wandering...as the neighbor says...while she was in bed with the boyfriend. Afterall, they were in the master bedroom...how were they locked inside? Aren't locks on the inside?
3. Where did the kids go? And Mr. "local" who knows that she's a bad mom, I hope you called Child Protection. A foster home would be a better place for these kids.
4. Even if the guy is a nice guy, he obviously lost his mind...and our prisons are full of people who've lost their minds.

BTW, $5,000 is about what he'll have to pay to get out of jail. So, watch out. If he's really demented, he'll likely finish the job he tried to start. Or maybe not. But there has been a lot of that lately.

God bless the kids...they are the real victims

human

Oh - Maybe he was trying to say, "That's just horrible because of the kids."

I thought he had stopped typing in the middle of a thought...as far as Kirkpatrick, well, not to be unkind, but can he ever stop a thought?
