It sounds great to say that we should report internet fraud, but both the FBI site and this one (I can't tell if they are the same) are so cumbersome and ask for so much information that it is not worth the effort. The company I work for gets dozens of attempts at internet fraud each week, and it would keep an employee busy almost full time to try to report through these agencies. Good luck. We just delete them, but would send them somewhere if it was not prohibitively time-consuming.
I agree with pburt. If there was just an email address to forward the message with the header, it would be so much easier.
I can't believe someone could fall for this. A little reasoning would see through it. You get a mail from the FBI director saying money was put into your account and they need your information to follow up on it. Reason says if they know there has been a sum of money in your account the FBI has become aware of, they already have your information. Am I wrong, or do people really go for this?
To Huh ???
Yeah, people fall for it. They still fall for the old Nigerian scams, too. Like the saying goes, there's a sucker born every minute.
To Huhh??? I'm with you. How can people be so ignorant??? My husband owns a computer business and has told me to never open e-mail from any unknown source. Even if I did, I sure wouldn't give ANYONE personal info. I think it's kinda scary that this article is about something that is just common sense ! We need some real news.
