Focus on polygamy may result in charges

By now, we all realize that the legal roadblocks to prosecuting FLDS crime are more significant than the typical, "this is our little secret. Don't tell your family members or I will have to kill them." It appears that this is an entire society that protects adult males who rape 12 year-old and older girls. When one considers that Texas was only able to prosecute due to a freak phone call incident, it may be understandable that the other states have had difficulties.
The math concerning this criminal behavior is alarming. Texas uncovered 20 possible cases of statutory rape out of a population of 700. There was enough evidence in this first go round to bring charges in five of these cases. With a possible 10,000 FLDS members residing on the Utah/Arizona border, there are possibly 280 cases of statutory rape, 70 where there would be enough evidence to file charges and 28 that could involve girls as young as 12 years-old. These people are now camped out in six states and evidence may have been destroyed.
