The same holds for gang violence in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, New York, Chicago, and Salt Lake City.
... and let me add any child growing up in a family who are members of a gang.
And we wonder why violence doesn't end.
. from my experience I imagine that a person child or adult in captivity adapts to survive by showing love to the abuser ot the most powerful one present, e.g.captors so that they will survive better.
