go fight fight tie! love those ties! What a team! what a city best is tie
This was a good tie all things considered. We still need some more goal scoring firepower, but defensively they are looking tough.
soccer is exciting! A sport is flawed when at the end of a match/competition there is no winner or loser.
Why do folks like Anonymous, and cuncabo feel the urge to comment disparigingly on a sport they will never love, like, or follow? MLS tried the "no game ends in a tie" bit and it did nothing to attract new fans.
Every week it's the same old same old, scores of idiots show up to disparage ties, the lack of action and show their ignorance regarding the sport.
To those who feel they must participate with this kind of dialogue, I have one request. Make a list of all the changes you'd like to see in soccer, and then ask yourself this question: "Would I like the sport if these changes were made?" I'll bet none of you can answer in the affirmative.
The Deseret News would do well to censure your comments as they are completely off topic, and has nothing to do with the story reported. Whether you like it or not, soccer is not going to go away, so get a life and if you don't like it, don't acknowledge it. It's that simple folks.
I don't see how the sport is flawed when their is no clear winner or looser. The way the point structure is set up there is no flaw in ending a game in a tie. It is unreasonable to keep playing when you only get three subs a game and you are running around on a field that is wider and longer than a football field for 90 plus minutes with no break in the action other than a 15 minute halftime. In soccer you play more minutes than any other professional sport other than maybe baseball and golf but in those sports you at least have a lot of breaks in the action or there is no real running involved. People need to get over the fact there are ties in soccer because it doesn't make the game any less exciting. Last nights game was one of the most exciting games of the season with all the chances that both teams had and both teams fought to the end for a well deserved tie on both ends.
a sport is flawed when the players take breaks for 30 seconds after moving for 10 seconds.
A great game. Both teams played some intense, beautiful soccer. RSL's defense was solid even as the whole Chicago team kept coming at them during the last 15 mins. It was a good result for RSL.
RSL has become a fun and exciting team to watch. Fine athletes working exceptionally hard and creatively together as a team. If and when they get some consistent goal scoring they could have a legitmate chance to win a championship....Often times people who haven't played a sport or who haven't played it on a fairly high level don't appreciate the beauty and joy of the game. That's fine. It's shame , however, when their lives are so empty that they have to spend the time and energy trying to denegrate a game that so many others love....RSL isn't ManU or Barcelona but they're our team and there are thousands of us, and more each day, who are glad they are.
As the score suggests, this was a defensive battle. Chicago and Salt Lake have two of the best defenses in the league, and we shouldn't be surprised that goals were in short supply last night. Still, as far as I'm concerned, a draw on the road is as satisfying as a win.
Go RSL!
This RSL team continues to impress. As the season progresses my hopes are climbing. I can't remember an RSL team playing so well together. The unselfish play, the combinations, the effort on the field, even the corner kicks are more of a threat than in past seasons.
Go REAL!
I think it is fnny how people need to bash on soccer. Soccer fans can do the bigger thing and not comment back but instead I think every article about football, baseball, or basketball I'm going to go there and make stupid comments about how they are not sports... And I have thought of a great name.....Utefan. Anyone else who wants to follow there are plenty of names to choose from.......ByuFan, cancubo, etc.
Good game...good result on the road, keep it up.
The best thing about soccer is that no two games are the same, so it's always exciting not knowing quite what to expect - it's all about anticipation.
On another night this game could've ended 6 apiece!
I think we did a pretty good job against Blanco. He didn't get a miracle goal against us anyway. It was a good sign that the play callers didn't call his name much, except when he was taking a corner kick, or diving (he took about 64 corner kicks in the second half alone).
Keep the ties coming boys!!! Maybe every soccer game should end in a tie so there are never any winners or (heaven forbid) losers!!! Everybody is a winner!!! Thank you Vladamir, Joseph, Nikita, Mao, Fidel and others for teaching us this wonderful lesson and thank you soccer for carrying the torch!!!
Amen.
I'm excited for the Toronto game on Monday. We are going to need 3 points from the rest of our home games this season if we want to get to the playoffs. TFC is pretty vulnerable on the road so we are going to have to take advantage of this opportunity.
We played well against Chicago. The boys were unlucky to not see one or two shots go in. We were also lucky to see a few of their stay out, but it was a fun game to watch.
Go REAL!!!
I go for vacation for two weeks with my family and I return to find RSL in first place by tying again. They don't even have a winning record. That is why soccer settles for mediocrity.
A Utefan accusing RSL of settling for mediocrity...
Keep the posts coming soccer haters. They get funnier every day...
Keep up the great work RSL. No DP, No Foreign coach, Best record in the West, and terrorizing the East. I love our team.
What an exciting game! There were many times I was sitting on the edge of my seat and other times I had to get closer to the screen to take in all the action! The goaltending was astounding on both ends. Way to go Rimando! Even though the end result was a 0-0 draw, this was by far one of the most exciting games I've watched this season.
Go RSL!
