C.J. Miles although growing up and into his game slowly has probably seen his last Jazz game as a player if that Oklahoma City contract is 15 million for 4 years.

IMHO it will be economics that stops the Jazz from matching the offer sheet.

Interesting that Oklahoma waited until after Deron Williams signed his contract today to have the news released.

I wish C.J. Miles well and hope he grows up like Kris Humphreys and realizes that Jerry Sloan knows what he is talking about when he says hard work is what it takes.

Just because C.J. Miles got the offer does not mean he is worth it.

That is the trouble with 2nd round high school players. By the time they are any good they are eligible to go somewhere else.

The Oklahoma City "Rustlers" will be a good place for Miles to continue to develop.

Let him go and look for the next guy that will help you.

I'd take Brewer over CJ any day. CJ isn't that mentally tough, and he is not a $4 million player. OKC is paying him on potential, so of course if he turns out to be talented, Jazz naysayers will rip on the Jazz for letting him go, but no one with a straight face can say that, today, he is a $4 million a year player.

Let him walk and take the chance he won't pan out. The Jazz have two very good 2-guards, and when Boozer demands a ridiculous amount of money and he walks, we'll need all the money under the cap we can get.

I am, however, going to go out on a limb and say that there is tampering involved, based on the fact that CJ said that teams had "expressed interest" in him during the playoffs.

For both CJ & the Jazz if he goes to Oklahoma City. He will get more playing time, contribute more, and earn more moola. The Jazz can work on developing Almond. $15 million for Miles seems very high. He hasn't proved that he can really make an NBA team noticeably better. Hopefully he can in Oklahoma. Now if the Jazz could just trade Collins & Hart and pick up a solid combo guard to backup Deron & Brewer, they would be better positioned to make a run at the Finals.

If he goes he will light us up he has the ability to be good in this league all he needs is some stabilty in his playing time. Hes gets that and he could be the next wing to score 50 on the Jazz. He is a better shooter than Brewer and a better defender than Korver younger than the almost done Harpring and doesn't cry about Playing time like AK yet Sloan praises his work ethic in practice then leaves him on the bench. What a loss too the Jazz

If the Jazz think he is worth 4 mil they will match and then trade Korver. I doubt if that will happen. CJs minutes can go to Korver or maybe Almond.

CJ leaving may be a great opportunity for the Jazz to pick up a good defender at the 2 spot.

Maybe the Jazz will make an offer to Pargo. He is a PG but played well in the playoffs.

It will be tough to see C.J. go. The current roster is saddled with lesser players. If you watched the Revue tonight, you had to cringe. There was nothing there.

Miles is better than at least three and maybe four players who are still here and under contract.

Net loss for the Jazz. Oklahoma improves, Jazz remain static.

By the way, you can't trade players nobody wants.

C.J. is still younger than many players drafted this year, so saying he isn't mentally tough is probably correct, but perhaps a bit premature. Looked to me that he had an enormous amount of talent and athletic ability, plus a nice looking shot. I will bet that with a little time, he can become a pretty decent starter in this league. However, $15 million seems like a lot, but if he can utilize all of that talent and get more playing time, perhaps it will someday look like pocket change. Now, time to develop Almond!

a diamond in the rough....Sloan doesn't know how to grow the young talent here in Utah. the coach needs to go. just like deshwan stephenson, another young talent slips away. either that or the Jazz need to move to Seattle.

Stephenson didn't slip away. They traded him for Giricek, who they then traded for Korver. I would take Korver over Stephenson. It would be nice to keep Miles for cheap, but the fact is, they can't afford it. They will need money if they want to keep Milsap and Korver. He will be overpaid by Seattle, and in a few years as they try to re-sign Durant and Green, they will look at this signing as a mistake. You just can't pay unknown talent this kind of money.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I like CJ and his personality. His game, however, is unproven. If he turns out to be someone the Jazz should not have let go so be it. CJ has not done anything in the public's eye to justify paying him the insane amount of money OK is paying him.

CJ Miles was the 14th youngest player in the league last year and the best 2 guard on our team. He is as good a shooter as Korver and as good on defense as Brewer.

He has loads of talent and has not had a shot to prove himself. The Jazz will regret loosing Miles more than any other player that we have lost.

If he plays 25-30 minutes a game for any team in the league he will be in the running for the most improved player award.

Thank you Oklahoma; you likely will have an outstanding, team oriented, consistent contributing athlete who will bring wonderful dividends to your team in 2-3 years. Your money says you believe in CJ. Once his confidence develops (some playing time and good coaching will help) he will be worth the salary you are offering.

I think Korver and Giricek both were / are salaried in the same neighborhood. CJ will prove his worth.

It will be the same future for Almond; plenty of potential but not developed by Sloan and co. Two more years and the Jazz will still be working on finding playng time for him. He will sign elsewhere and become a complete player. A team with a stable of shooting guards and small forwards ought to invest in the development of the young players: believe in them coach.

That is roughly 3.7 million a year. Hart is getting 2.5! There is no chance the Jazz will get a player of his talent, character, upside, youth and experience together for that price. You are going to be paying someone to fill that final spot and it might as well be him vs a journeyman with little to offer. Sign him and pray for a sucker to take Kirilenko's contract. Ak is worth maybe 6mil a year not 16 and that is the only bad contract that Jazz have. This has nothing to do with Korver being the answer, he is going to be a free agent, Harpring is getting older and has bad knees. Miles is perfect insurance/future for these guys. Find me a player in the entire NBA that can play even a little and he's easily worth 3.7 mil. Miles can play and D-will loves him. Guaranteed he'll average over 12ppg 4rpg shoot respecibly and be a candidate for MIP if he goes to OKC. He'll get minutes he'll be uderpaid by midseason.

He won't be worth that kind of money next year, but will the two following years. The Jazz just have a wealth of talent right now with very similar players. This will be the best for both CJ and the Jazz and opens up a roster spot for someone else.

Are you kidding me?? C.J. Miles will never amount to more than a second tier guard in the NBA. Seattle has not been a contender for years, precisely because they will pick up a guy like C.J. (soft on defense, lazy and slow shot release, misses far too many wide open jumpers, an average free throw shooter, and a guy who won't show up to summer league play).

Mark my words. C.J. Miles will be out of the NBA by the time his 4-year $15 million stint with Seattle is over. 6-6 swingmen with no bulk on their body and a lazy work ethic are easy to come by in the NBA.

If the Jazz really felt that CJ were the answer they would have traded Gordon G for a defensive center or maybe backup PG instead of Korver.

OK needs CJ a lot more than the Jazz since the Jazz have extra players at that position. The Jazz lowballed CJs offer and it would have been great to keep him for that offer. However, OK will play him on a regular basis and he will contribute and develop much faster there.

The Jazz are no where near the lux tax. I hope they step up and get a better bench (biggest weakness). NO's bench with Posey just got a lot better. The Jazz are a little weaker with the loss of CJ.

How did the game go tonight? I could not watch it. Someone said that Fes did not do well. How about Kouf and Almond?

Funny how many on here say see you later and he is not worth it and he is not that good but but he has the tools in one package that the others only are limited skill players. Korver good shooter and no inside game, good free throw shooter poor defender. Brewer good inside game no outside game okay defender. CJ can take it inside and outside as well can drive to the basket and he is between Korver and Brewer with his defense.
DWill even mocked Sloan on KJZZ during the review saying there was no need for him to be at the RMR.
This is Classic Jazz stupidity that they develop a player to the point where they are going to break out and the player gets tired of antics and Sloan and leave. Sloan aired in the press many times that CJ needed to be in RMR last year. Practice what you preach and shut up and keep it in house Sloan. CJ performed well this year for the Jazz and all Sloan does is trash him about RMR. Don't fool yourselves Brewer would be in the same position as CJ if Fisher was still here.

Coach sloan is right! When I read one of the articles few days ago, he mentioned that alot of NBA players are wasting their skills... they think that skills is enough to survive in nba. They don't realize that hard work and commitment must be included also. I love cj's skills but i hope they would not match it because he lacks work ethics.

Watch cj miles... he'll be included on the former jazzmen who experienced bad karma after bolting out and/or fought with coach sloan.

But Brewer is a better defender then CJ and Korver is a better shooter... so whats your point? CJ is not worth 4 million a year; the jazz will not miss him. Just like Howard Eisley, Shannon Anderson, Bryon Russell, etc. It was the Jazz system not their talent. Its time to give Almond some playing time.

Don't forget, Larry Miller is big on CJ Miles, and has said so publicly on numerous occasions. He even called up David Stern to sing CJ's praises, telling him to keep on eye on the young kid, that he would be great some day. If he leaves Utah, I say too bad. I think CJ is a fine player, and could've been great for the Jazz if not for the whole Rocky Mountain Revue incident last year.

I can't help but think when I watch CJ play that he looks a lot like Ray Allen. The difference seems to be that CJ appears to have more upper body strength that might give him some rebounding and inside play ability with time.

It would be nice to keep him, but I seems that economics may get in the way. I suspect that the gamble will pay off for New Orleans.

I think that Eisley shouldn't be on that list. He played in the system well and was only let go when the Jazz seemed to have a better back-up (or was it when Lopez was drafted?) Eisley continued to play well with other teams and has had a very solid back-up career (and a ring with the Spurs?).

My memory is that Anderson left for money and a chance for more playing time and Tag was just plain Tag. Otherwise most of that list didn't play in the system well. As a rule they really haven't fit in other systems that well either.

the jazz will never win a championship in the next 5 years without a shut down defender @ the 2 position.the Jazz can never stop the good 2 guards of the league.....Bruce Bowen has been a key piece to the Spurs puzzle.He is a key role player which the Jazz need really bad.The Jazz don't have a veteran leader on the team who's tuff......RAJA BELL is the perfect fit for the Jazz.Raja Bell should be the 2 guard on this team...If Mr. O'Conner does a trade for Raja Bell, the Jazz will win a few titles; for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!

Tht is true Raja plays okay defense, but you forget that he already played defense for the Jazz at the 2 and while doing ok, he didn't do any better than Brewer did bythe end of the year. Raja is tha last thing we need. Sign Miles, get rid of Hart even if you have to cut the guy. Make Collins a coach to teach the bigs with talent how to defend. Let things ride until you can dump AK's salary or Boozer bolts and us New York's pic in 2010 to fill whatever hole is left in the roster.

Raja Bell was a good defender and a great shooter. If you can, trade to bring him back to UT by signing Miles that would be a good. Get rid of Hart even if you have to eat his contract. Start preparing for Harperings replacement this way. Matt is bulkier and a little taller, but Raja brings quickness as he has deveolped in Pheonix and a good 2 guard defender. I hope the JAZZ can improve their rooster this year. The clock is starting to tick to the rebuilding stage, again. GO JAZZ!!!!!!
