these horses should be dropped off at Willie Nelson's or Bo Derek's home, since they pushed so hard to stop the use of horses for consumption.
Once again, the animal-rights loonies go on a crusade and once again, the animals they intended to "save" end up dying.
Why does anyone listen to these idiots in the first place?
I don't understand, nurse it back to health then ADOPT IT OUT TO SOME ONE WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF IT.
This is a huge problem now. Did you know that the BLM is the US A's largest breeder of horses? They are with all the mustangs. With the slaughter houses shut down and the government caving into all the liberal hype to stop them the us government will become even a larger breeder of horses with the mares that are being dumped in the desert. Open the slaughter houses up and the problem will be solved!! Get the government out of breeding horses and creating this problem. There was no problem untill they created it.
Save the horse and kill it, your tax dollars at work. More children are abandoned after or aborted before birth than there are abandoned horses every year, but the horse makes the news.
There were two things about this story that really stood out to me.
One, quotes Sheriff Robert Dekker as saying, "New laws that no longer allow horse meat to be included in dog food have dropped the market on older horses."
The second is as follows:
"The BLM said when the horse is nursed back to health, it will be handed over to Millard County. Deputies said the horse may have to be euthanized if no owner can be found."
So, dogs can no longer be fed using the carcasses of horses and, despite being nursed back to health, this horse may very well be killed.
Is there ANY sense to this??
Just send the horse to the YFZ ranch in Texas.
They can use it for weddings and such.
Then Willie Jessop can eat it.
Obviously the individuals that made the comments to just kill the horse have never owned a horse! Why don't you go to youtube and view a video of how horses are slaughtered... would you do this to your family dog! A horse can sense death and is hauled in horrible cruel conditions in the double decker trailer with no food or water for , an average horse is 14 to 15 hands tall (that is about 4 feet tall from their hooves to the withers which is the top of their back. Then add another 2 feet to to the top of their head. The double decker trailer is made for cattle, most horses cannot stand up all the way and fall to the floor to be trampled by other scared and panicked horses, mares in foal give birth in the double decker from the stress and the foals are killed or simply thrown out. Horses are not food, either are dogs or cats... so horses should not be slaughtered!!!!!! Responsible horse owners should be the ones that pay to have them put to sleep peacefully if they cannot take care of them but abandoning them is not the answer!
I am a horse owner and believe that the slaughter houses should be opened up. These PETA IDIOTS are the reason many horses are starving daily. All farm animals need an outlet once they have served their purpose. You may not eat horse, but I bet the people in third world countries would love to have them. Humans are way more important than animals. I love my animals but they have their place.
