If you make the homeless walk in this heat to get water, you may find them collapsing and ending up in the hospital with heat exhaustion/stroke. Which is better? 25 cents for a refillable bottle of water or thousands of dollars in the emergency room?

You also wrote, "had been giving the homeless a dollar or two on a regular basis...I will no longer do this as I understand that cash ends up buying alcohol, tobacco and drugs."

Matthew 25:31-46....in particular verse 40: "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

Also, Matthew 7:1-2: "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

What you are doing for the homeless, will be counted as if you did it for Jesus!
