Wait a minute, isn't that what the Cavs thought about Boozer staying in Cleveland?
CJ Miles won't play in the summer league because he ONLY has a 1.2 million dollar offer laying on the table? What has he actually done to deserve more? Nothing!
This is a poor, sad situation. That is more money than most people make in 10 years who are very well educated and good at their jobs. Quit your whining, and go to work! You will get more if you give more...
CJ is shooting himself in the foot, wasting a great talent, and possible ruining his career. When everything is said and done, he has nobody to blame but himself.
CJ's upside alone is worth more than 1.2 million. He is an asset as far as team chemistry is concerned. He contributes more to the team than Hart, far more, perhaps even more than others. His potential for development is greater than several.
Too bad he signed out of high school, he could be heading into his fourth year of college and showcasing his potential.
Too bad he has been in the coach's dog house this last season. Space on the roster is crowded at his position. What chance has he got to develop in a youthful, talent-heavy situation, with a coach who is cautious in using developing talent / potential. Younger, inexperienced guys don't get a ton of game time.
CJ still believes in himself (so do the Jazz to a degree). CJ will be gone when the season begins. He needs to be somewhere he has an opportunity for more time on the floor. Someone will offer this gifted player at least 1.3 mil.
CJ will be a major contributor somewhere within 3 years.
CJ Miles will be out of the league in 2 years!
is going to leave for Miami after this season. Utah won't give him the amount he will be looking for, unless he suddenly develops a solid defensive game. It's too bad, but I think Utah will be Booz-less after this season, which D-will won't be too happy about.
The Miami Heat don't need to tamper. They already know he is coming to Miami. Just ask his wife CeCe. Trade him now so he doesn't end up pulling a Boozer and go to Miami!!!!
Wow! It's more than official. The Jazz are prepared to offer a max contract to a player that doesn't deserve it. AND... they are going to lose because he isn't going to accept. The Jazz are going to come up empty handed on this. This is all the proof that anyone will need that the Jazz brass don't have a stinking clue.
Wow, Token! Listening to you I would think CJ is an All-Star. The facts are the facts and apparently no one else in the league thinks CJ is worth more than $1.3 mill. Let's talk about "potential". I can think of 2 no.1 picks that have had "potential" written all over them and haven't lived up to the upside. Olowakandi and Kwame. So when people talk about someones upside, that player still has to work at it.
CJ is going into his 4th year. Can we still be talking about his "upside". By now you either have proven yourself or you haven't. CJ has proven he is inconsistent. He needs all the help he can get!
Boozer, I hope he stays around. I don't see Miami picking him up though. They just drafted a power forward that can't play D, why do they want to pay max money for one?
I hope Boozer decides to stay. But if he doesn't, the Jazz will use the money to get someone else.
Although I'm hoping the Jazz do a sign and trade, maybe the best thing that could happen is to lose Boozer next season and get no players in return. That solves the cap/luxury tax problem facing the Jazz and frees up money to resign Millsap, Okur, Korver and Brewer.
The Jazz really haven't suffered when either Boozer or AK missed games the last couple of years. Jazz will find that Millsap, Okur and AK give enough production as starters. No problem replacing Boozer's rebounding. Yes, we'd miss his offense, but Deron can easily put up 25/per and AK would get more plays called for him. Millsap will score 15 just off put-backs (like Boozer's role in Cleveland).
If Kosta or Fes aren't ready to contribute, then the Jazz can find a Harpring-type player at the MLE to back up at the 4/5 (to replace Collins).
Jazz will be fine, maybe even better w/o Boozer. He was a bust offensively in the playoffs and has never shown any willingness to play tough defense.
I think O'Connor's words about tampering were meant as a pre-emptive warning to Miami. It's an indirect way off him saying "hands-off" until next summer.
To Token: Ask Milsap, D Will, and Brewer about playing time as a rookie or 2nd year man. Somehow they got minutes. What did they do? EVERYTHING THEY COULD. They came to camp in shape, they worked hard in the off season, they practiced harder during the season. CJ has shown he is willing to do little and expect much; something not totally surprising from a 20-something-year-old, but this is for millions of $. And all this doesn't even take into account his spotty play while actually on the court.
Name one player who's statistical number improved after leaving the Jazz. And when you get done naming Mo Williams I will name 50 players that did just the opposite. Maybe, just maybe, Sloan and staff know how to do their job a bit better than we give them credit.
CJ wants to avoid injury; the Jazz want to avoid paying a huge amount of money for selfish attitude off the court and little productivity on the court.
I wish Miami would tamper and get this shady looser out of Utah. Boozer is a good player, but only when he is not betting with his bookie against the Jazz. Yeah, that's right Boozer- Don't think we haven't noticed you watching the scoreboard at the end of games when the score is close to the spread. All those times when you get the rebound at the top of the key, and then let out your signature "AHHHHH" yell as a 160 pound point guard rips it out of your hands. Trade Boozer now!!!
Don't think for a minute that Boozer and D-Will aren't talking. If D-Will signs a short contract (3 yrs.) then Boozer is gone. If D-Will signs long-term, then I think Boozer will stay.
That way, William's gets his big payday. He will still have the option to leave while he is still relatively young if the Jazz don't find a suitable replacement for Boozer, but he is not locked in long-term.
If he signs a long-term contract, then I think he and Boozer have talked and decided to keep the nucleus of the team together and make as many runs at a title as they can. D-Will's contract will be a tell on Boozers hand.
Hey St George Aggie when has CJ had a chance to play?
Let Boozer go .....It's the Power Forward position in Utah offense that makes the Power Forward....Look At AK when he was playing the PF in the 03-04 season, he had the best season! Not to say Boozer isn't talented, but it has a lot to do with the offense he is playing in as well.
Boozer has proved to the league he isn't the most trust worthy player. It would be nice to keep him, but if the jazz can get something close to his talent level for him, I think they should do it. As long as DWILL is here, he can turn a talented power forward into an all star.
With CJ, every team in the NBA has a CJ MIles, a youngster with talent, but hasn't panned out yet. I wouldn't worry about CJ, players like him are a dime a dozen.
The chatter this summer seems to be all about Benedict Boozer aka Charmin.
Get rid of Booz he's a choke artist and a good one at that... Money could be better used on players who actually want to win, not lose the the lakers!
Let's see:
Stay in Utah or Live in Miami?
Trade him NOW!
His effort(?) in the playoffs shows he is done with the Jazz.
LHM/KO:
Cut your losses. Get some (any) value for him NOW.
is he has had time to develop, but he's not doing what's in his best interest. The problem is he has a terrible agent and is still immature. He has the talent to make an impact, but if he never plays (summer league) how can he earn the respect and trust of the coaches to earn more minutes? I believe Miles may be a lost cause at this point. Utah certainly doesn't have to have him on their team, and I think it may be the beginning of the end for Mr. Miles.
