they had better just give him what he wants. He's the future of the entire franchise. I cant imagine whats holding them back.

even if all he wants is a three year deal? My guess is they'd like to lock him up for a longer term than he's interested in at the moment

Some of these comments are just crazy. D-Will is going nowhere. Stop worrying about Boozer - as long as the Jazz don't pull a clipper and low ball him with an offer like Brand he will either be with the Jazz for 6 year (we are the only team who can sign him for 6 years) or we will work a sign and trade and and he get 6 years from another team and we get something in return. Boozer wants money and he deserves more money. Boozer was offered a millsap type rookie contract (about $700,000 a year)from Cleveland. They then release him because they wanted to lock him up to a deal around 6 year 32million deal - way below market value. We offered him 6 years 68mill - He was restricted so Cleveland could match, but didn't because salary cap issues. So in 7 years (I am speaking at the end of next season) in the league he has made 57 million or around 8 million a year. Clearly he want a 6 year deal around 110million to 127million - who wouldn't . And only the Jazz can offer that.

D-will is not worried about money, it's the long term future of the franchise. There is more that goes into it than money.

The only problem with your logic is that Boozer will be an unrestricted free agent, so the Jazz can't match any offer given to Boozer. With the current roster that the Jazz have, they will have a hard time offering him the 110-127 million dollar contract because that would put them over the luxery tax, which is something LHM will never allow the team to do. The only way we can keep Williams and Boozer is to get rid of AK because his contract is way too much of the teams salary cap.

Cleveland did not have the right to match the contract that the Jazz offered because they did not pick up the last year of his initial contract and Boozer was a 2nd round pick. He was not a restricted free agent.

If any of you think that D-Will is not worried about the money, you've got a screw loose. Of course, he is primarily interested in the money. It's fair to say that it's not ALL about the money but primarily ... it's about the money.

D-Will is smart. He'll take the deal that gives him the best future options. Keep in mind if something happens to Larry Miller (because of his ill health), what would happen to the team if it no longer had an owner? Leave Utah?

Too many future changes that aren't good might be enough for both Boozer and D-Will to abandon ship after this season (Boozer) and as soon as he can (D-Will).

Life is a house of cards. It doesn't take much of the unexpected to really change things.

That said, this next season promises to be a fun one!

It's always about the money, but D-Will's primary concern is his future in the NBA. He knows he's good enough to get max money wherever he plays, so in a sense he's not worried about the money at this point. His immediate interest is in whether he can be on a team that can win a title in the next few years.

As close as the Jazz came last year, he knows it's possible with the Jazz, but only if things don't change too much for the worse (in his mind).

LHM already announced he would pay max possible for D-Will so money is not really the issue. They are likely discussing length of contract and option years yada yada yada. Whose option/what years ie. Jazz vs. D-Will. He will sign for 3-4 years I think. He does not want to be committed if the team does not stay committed ie. Sloan may retire and a new coach/system is an unknown for him. Also keeping good players here--he wants to make sure that happens.

D-will knows Booz does not play D good enough to win it all--he is not blind. D-Will will be OK as long as he is replaced with a player who can give them a chance to improve the team.

It's not all about Boozer, it's also about whether Sloan will return and whether they will get rid of AK's contract. I think D-Will and Booz both enjoy playing for Sloan and they want to know what will happen when Sloan's contract is finished.

I wonder if they aren't trying to work some sort of a screwy deal to free up cap space for next year. Like getting him to take less than Max for one year so they can have the money to compete for Memo and Booze, or someone to replace them if they decide to leave.

I agree that he will be looking for a shorter deal though probably 3 with a player option for 4. I'm sure the Jazz are pushing for a 5 year deal.

its simply frustating to watch deal after deal go down and the jazz sitting picking their noses, fine they are waiting for dwill to sign first, I get that. but what about bringing some big name in to make dwills decision easier? Marcus camby was that big name defensive player, and he is gone. oh well another season ahead of " the jazz have great potential" whatever! what we have has not worked sooooooooooo change it. nuff said.

Deron said in an interview that he didnt think Boozer would be here if he wasnt here. It is stupid to think that Deron and Boozer dont talk about what each are going to do. Boozer is going to miami and Deron knows it. Deron wants a 3 year deal so he can opt out. the Jazz are going know where in 2009-2010 season and Deron doesnt want to be a part of it. Kevin wants him for a five year deal and deither wants to compromise

D-Will is the only player the Jazz have that is not expendable. All other players could be traded or let go. Williams is the key to all the success that the Jazz could ever hope for. If they don't resign him then I will no longer be a Utah Jazz fan. It would be suicide for them to let him go.
