Same Old Tune | 10:22 a.m. July 16, 2008
For the past ten years, as employees, we have been accepted less than sufficient cost of living adjustments because the Mayor kept telling us we were "saving" for the bad times. Even in the last couple of very good years, our COLA was minimal at best, with the same explanation we are planning for the lean times. Then, a lean time comes and how does the Mayor still balance the budget? On the backs of the employees. What happened to all the money he was "saving" for the lean times? If we have been "saving" mayor then why are we suffering a serious budget deficit. Especially when no other sizeable community of note is? This sounds like fiscal mis-management to me at the least. It is down-right deception at best. Where has all the money gone Mayor? How many projects that were not critical need have you shoved down the citizen's throats for the benefit of "the few" and the benefit of a "few votes?" It is time to demand accountability citizens of Provo.
Billings money pits | 1:10 a.m. July 17, 2008
Mayor Billings needs a reality check. His pet projects are dead in the water, money pits. The only legacy he leaves behind is his determined foolishness to throw even more taxpayer money into HIS bad management decisions. I will support and vote for anyone willing to retire Billings. Provo will soon be bankrupt but King Billings will still be waving his banner for his foolish cable network and his golf course built with taxpayer dollars. He refuses to listen to any voice of reason and does not represent anyone but himself. We need our police and fire departments, not a golf course!
