David Archuleta is awesome and a great singer. His career is forward all the way as he is already a pop star and teen idol!!! I am definitely a David Archuleta fan and will definitely buy all his music! He is "da bomb" and a beautiful person, too.
DA is phenomenal | 1:25 a.m. July 16, 2008
Beatles, you wonder what the REAL music artists are thinking about this insane reaction to this 17 yr old karaoke singer? Well wonder no more. FYI, the media has been reporting quite a few stories about "REAL music artists" giving David Archuleta high praises for his talent and artistry. So consider yourself informed.
What Real singers think | 1:37 a.m. July 16, 2008
Beatles asked what the real music artists think ---- THEY LOVE HIM! I have seen articles and reviews (not from the main stream journalist - but interviews and blogs by professionals in the music industry, people in music academics - vocal trainers to broadway, opera, pop stars and broadway, opera, and pop stars themselves refer to him as a musical prodigy, being so pure in voice, refer to his incredible technique but at the same time has the ability to make an emotional connection to the listener (AND I GUESS THIS IS ONLY FOR LISTENERS CAPABLE OF BEING EMOTIONALLY CONNECTED TO).
So strange how some people are so moved - even to tears - when he sings, and at the same time someone else does not get it. I am glad to be among those who get it.

Brooke is a hottie!!! and Syesia may have looked like a street walker, but you can't say she can't sing and doesn't have a career in front of her. I got my ticket from a buddy, why pay to support the Fox Network and see a bunch of amatuers sing? Because they are good that's why! I loved seeing the babes, who is the chick with the tatoo on on her arm? She totally can sing, but that tatoo totally turns me OFF BIG TIME!!!
Illinois Loves David A. TOO! | 8:49 a.m. July 16, 2008
My Husband and I are not regular AI watchers but when we were called by a friend to check out Archie we loved him! We are children of the 60's with 12 grandchildren but would absolutely buy his music.
(The last music we bought for ourselves was a Carpenters album if that tells you anything about how much music we buy.)
I have encouraged my grandsons to set their values and priorites to David's level because he is what I would like to see more of in the entertainment world. Clean, soft-spoken, honest, heartfelt, and he shines in a world of entertainment we normally avoid watching in our home.
David if you or your family read this know that our prayers are with you in this craziness you are living and we hope you always hold on to your values and commitments in life.
Keep up the great work and continue being the great influence you are on the kids in this world, perhaps this IS your mission.

American Idol's do other people's work. You don't see the judges ask them to do their own stuff, although most of the have their own.
If people like American Idol, Let them. Keep your rude comments to your self.
Why is there always someone there to complain about everything?
archie rant | 9:32 a.m. July 16, 2008
Archie is a comic book character. His nick name is David Archuleta. There is no way any 17 year old can sing that well. It had to be a singer with a voice like Josh groban doing the real singing. Archie was merely lip synching. If you can prove im wrong then go ahead. Im thinking Milli Villini. Know what I mean.
Wonderer | 10:28 a.m. July 16, 2008
goboywonder, Chikezie was my top 5 pick and he was voted off at #10. He has a GREAT voice but unfortunately people can't see beyond the physical stuff because he is not cute and adorable. Archuleta should have been voted off for singing the same type of songs and being boring, for forgetting his words, etc. Ramielle was criticized for singing the same type of songs but Archuleta wasn't. Archuleta has above average voice for a teen but compared to Carly and adults, his voice is average which is made for teen pop/disney music. Face it, AI is a teen idol show. The ones with the great voices like Carly get voted off early because people looks so much at the physical characteristics. Even Michael has the best voice in group performances and gets voted off early. Don't worry, Archuleta has enough fans who worship him and will give up all their money to buy his CDs for themselves, their friends, their families. I heard that Archie's fans plan to buy 10 or some insane amount of copies of his single/CDs to give away to everyone they know so he would hit number 1 and they can gloat about it.

Archuleta is a beautiful person. He glows. That is undeniable.
Susan from Cali | 10:36 a.m. July 16, 2008
I have had the pleasure of following David's journey on AI from start to finish. I have learned a little about him along the way watching him on the show and in interviews and such. He is the real deal people. It doesn't get any better than this guy. He is a wonderful singer, getting better every day at performing and a wonderful person setting a good example. I can't wait to hear his new album and will be buying it.

Thanks David for bringing a little light into my life.
Beatles | 10:57 a.m. July 16, 2008
Oh who are those REAL music artists that commented and gloated on Archie's performances? Did Ryan Tedder comment that Archie outdid him on Apologize? Did Josh Groban go out of his way to say that he outdid him on WYSYLM? Did Robbie Williams tell Archie that he now owns the Angels song? Who are these famous music artists that are gloating over Archuleta as the best singer on earth? I have seen a lot of bitter DIE-HARD "archie fan" reporters proclaiming that Archie is still the number 1 idol even after the AI show while they disparage the other idols like pieces of dirt. Feel free to make a statue of your idol and worship him. It is okay to say that Archie is a good singer but for reporters to disparage others to claim that Archie is number 1 is merely a cheap shot at revenge. Don't worry. JIVE will take care of Archie and manufacture him to an artist that would sell millions of records like Jordin Sparks.

Wow, I had no idea so many 10 year olds had access to the internet.
SLChere | 11:21 a.m. July 16, 2008
Archie can be given any type of song or music to sing (no matter how ugly the song is) and these 10 year olds or adults who act like 10 year olds will shriek and scream their head off like Archie is some singing voice machine god. That's how much these people worship Archuleta.
CBee | 12:55 p.m. July 16, 2008
If Archie didn't look like a cute adorable teen...he would have been voted off a long time ago."

You have crystallized my thoughts exactly. The kid has no personality - he has been brainwashed by his faith to be innocuous. As such, hes devoid of passion and soul!

Here's the thing: 1. David A has a fine voice and is cute. 2. Every girl in Utah loves him because he is Mormon and represents their goal - marriage to a temple-worthy man. And his fans are so clueless and enraptured they screamed throughout his entire concert performance so loudly that you couldn't even hear the boy sing. David Cook's more mature fans (read: cougars) kept their traps shut so they could enjoy his stellar vocals, watch his polished performance, enjoy his easy banter and admire his clearly superior and instrumental skills.

For what it's worth, David A is not the second coming of Christ, he just a kid whose dad has pushed him to be the family breadwinner. David Cook pursued his own dream and was rewarded with the prize - 2008 American Idol.

And Syesha has turned into a tramp. What a costume she had on (barely)
PandaPatti | 2:14 p.m. July 16, 2008
Honestly, Archie would standout in a stake roadshow production...but after a while, his lack of star power will do him in. They may name a troll doll after him, but that is about it for now. His appearance in Portland was so, so, drawing less applause than most the other contestants.
Sandy | 2:38 p.m. July 16, 2008
Archuleta's talent is anything but average. His voice is rich, powerful and always on pitch. He may very well, by virtue of a second place finish in the techno-frenzied voting, become the most famous of the Idol contestants. I look forward to his CD coming out( I have pre ordered it) and would, in a hearbeat, buy tickets to a solo concert of his.
To receive inspiration from this young man is simply an added bonus for which all generations can be grateful. We do not live in a vacuum. Good behavior is not automatic. It is learned. If DA is the teacher by example, then how fortunate the student(s). Don't let this gift pass you by...
exrecordingartist | 2:49 p.m. July 16, 2008
Okay, I am remaining anonymous obviously... Okay so I am a recording artist that for many years was singed with Sony BMG and later went independent for a while- anyway the rest isn't your business. So this David Archuleta guy.

You guys beating on him. What gives you the right? The audacity? Do you have the business, musical, or professional experience to ::quote:: "evaluate" him as an artist. I think not.

Opinions are one thing but let me give you the truth. How Archuleta slipped under the radar is beyond me. American Idol was not his show to beat anyway. He won before top 24 if u hadn't noticed. Not many people know this, but Jive had their eye on him long before he took runner up. Kristy Lee Cook had her label set early in the competition also. This is not the point though.

David Archuleta is so marketable it would blow all your minds. He's a kid off a cereal box, an icon, a great voice. Just give it time. Many say this kid wont last long but only time will tell- also the single is key.

POP STAR PEOPLE! David Archuleta ticks all the boxes.

Jives | 3:08 p.m. July 16, 2008
Jive's trick with Jordin Sparks is to have her hang out with established artists who have sold a lot of records like Chris Brown and Jesse McCartney. That's called piggyback riding on someone else's success. No doubt the Jive would do the same thing with Archuleta and make him piggyback with some famous artist(s) to boost his own success. Jive is not stupid with marketing.

I hesitate to get into this shouting contest, but will just simply state my feelings! I am an American Idol watcher! It is one of the few TV shows I watch (and enjoy). I am also an opera singer (along with many other genres of music), I have a bachelor's and master's degree in music performance and have taught voice lessons for over 20 years (some of that in Utah). I think I know a good voice when I hear it, and David HAS IT! Not only does he have an amazing voice (especially for his age) but he has charisma on the stage. He can sing almost anything and it comes out amazing, because he has stage presence as well as talent. I have seen several video clips of David on You Tube which just confirm the person he portrays on TV and the stage. He really is who he seems to be...and thank goodness, he is an amazing role model for not only teenagers, but everyone. He is going into a difficult business, but hopefully they will provide him with great contacts. Look at Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Good luck David!

"Every girl in Utah loves him because he is Mormon and represents their goal - marriage to a temple-worthy man." So now "every girl in Utah" is assumed to be Mormon? That's quite a stretch. Not all his fans are Mormons. Why does any faith have to be brought into these posts? Not all people enjoy the same type of music. So to be a hater to those who like or love his voice, give it a break. The young man is fresh and has a very appealing voice. At least you can understand the words, unlike some other types of music. To each his own. And if you don't like David, just keep your mouth shut and don't listen to him. It's fun to see a young person fulfill his dreams. Is he great? Probably not, but give him time to mature and leave the guy alone unless you can say something positive.
TypicalUtahFan | 5:18 p.m. July 16, 2008
I just love David. He is so cute. I dream about him every night. When he sings the heavens open and the angels sing. Someday their will be a monument built in his honor. I'm going to change my name to David. I will name all my children after him. He will save the world. He is a latter-day John the Baptist. The Tab choir is a distant memory. In the dictionary under perfect you see his picture.

TypicalCaliforniaFan,
Who the heck is David Archuleta????

nl | 5:24 p.m. July 16, 2008
I really enjoyed watching the video of his performances and I saw him live in San Jose, CA. He was great. Also, take a listen to "Angeles in the Alleyway" that he and his friend Merrick Christensen did when they were 14 (Christianson wrote it, I think) - it's on itunes too). Anyway, I loved, loved his rendition of Crazy by Gnarls Barkley that aired on MyFoxUtah the other day (saw it on youtube).

This is in response to CBee's comments on Cougars. It would certainly be no compliment to any young man to be pursued by these vixens. Someone on a TV show defined a "Cougar" as being a woman age 45 to 55 who stalks young men with the intent to seduce them. Who in the world would want to be Cougar bait? Certainly not the morally straight person that Archie demonstrates that he is. Keep up the good work, Archie. You have the total package. I expect you to knock 'em dead with your upcoming single and CD.

Cougar just means 40ish year old women...that's it.
Typical California Fan | 1:07 a.m. July 17, 2008
I'm a typical California Fan --- David Archuleta brought the house down in LA!
Loudest "screams", the most Posters, fans hanging out after the show.
My entire office was green with envy when they found out I was going to the AI concert with my son (who now is behaving great saying that he has been "archified") --- Sacramento -- state capitol of California --- gave him close to a 4 minute ovation --- and he still had one more song to go. California loves D.A. - it is well known fact that he is here in LA right now recording before heading to St. Louis --- LA would love to have him stay!
Not a Cougar | 1:07 a.m. July 17, 2008
Ha -- I bet David A had to ask someone "what's a Cougar" the first time he heard Cook Cougars.
Obssessed | 9:58 a.m. July 17, 2008
Why are the Archuleta fans obssessed with COMPARING???? Oh, Archuleta had the most cheers. Oh, more people clapped for Archuleta. Oh, Archuleta is better than Josh Groban. Oh, Archuleta is better than OneRepublic, he is better than John Lennon, he is better than Clay Aiken, he is better than etc.

More noise will be made with Archuleta because his fanbase consists of tweens or 8 year olds who can scream their lungs off. Everybody else's fans are adults who don't shriek like tween or teen girls.

So accept the fact that at each venue, it is expected that Archuleta will have the loudest shrieks from the young ones because Archie is a cute and adorable teen.
DA on So You Think You Can Dance | 1:31 p.m. July 17, 2008
Hey did anyone watch and notice that David A performed on So You Think You Can Dance last night? OK, he was not there live and there was not a picture of him, but the best number of the night was danced to David A's Imagine and it was awesome. The dance and the song, it was the best I had heard him sing it and it reminded me of how much I love his voice. Oh and Obssessed, I listened to Josh Groban the other night at the All Stars Game and I am not about to make a professional comparison of David A and Josh's voice, but I love their voices equally and I believe that David A has the potential of great success because he appeals to the older generation as does Josh. Younger people grow out of some singers, as people get older, they grow in to people.
RE: Obsessed | 2:56 p.m. July 17, 2008
Why must Cook fans always compare Cook with Archuleta? Cook got more votes than Archuleta. Cook is a better performer than Archuleta. Cook is more unique than Archuleta.

I enjoyed all the performances at the concert, and I heard more adults screeching than young children. In fact, I didn't see many young children. hm.
New Mexico Fan | 3:14 p.m. July 17, 2008
The comments are all very interesting. I have never been an A1 fan until I heard David A. sing this year and had to come back every week to watch his performance. I have become obsessed for the first time in my life. There is something about his voice when he sings that just draws you in and you are hooked. I love dancing but as his soundtrack played on So You Think You Can Dance I forgot to watch the dancers. If you cannot hear it or it does nothing for you, I am sure you can not possibly understand our admiration for this talented and clean living young man who just wants to sing.
Grandma | 3:47 p.m. July 17, 2008
Why can't these nay-sayers give credit where credit is due? For some reason there are those around who cannot bask in someone elses accomplishments. Archie is only 17, he has an incredible voice, he is a good kid (which is hard for some that can't say the same about themselves), he has strong values and beliefs, he's smart, he is handsome, he's humble etc. etc. etc. In other words, he has the whole pacakage. Give him credit and stop bashing him and his talent. Millions of people can't be wrong. I thought it was so nice the second night of the concert (yes, I was there) when he thanked the crowd for making all of his idol friends welcome. If that's not humble, thoughtful, and considerate, I don't know what is. I love the kid and I'm so happy for him and I wish him well in the future. His music touches my soul and I'll be first in line when his first CD hits the shelves. David, keep on doing what you are doing, acting like you are acting and continue to keep your head on straight. This Grandma is your number one fan. Go David!

EXCUSE ME??? Why would Cook fans compare Cook to anybody??? He is already the winner!!! It is the Archuleta fans that are obssessed with comparing Archuleta to Cook and others. Just search youtube for "archuleta vs".

The comparisons done my the tweens are incredibly immature and too many.

The top 4 should have been:
Cook, Carly, Johns, Kristy Lee --
These 4 will thrive well as recording artists.

But unfortunately, people vote for cuteness. Season 7 is the worst season of the American Idol because the best singers like Carly, Johns, and Kristy are at the bottom 6 out of top 10.

Next year, just rename American Idol to TEEN AMERICAN IDOL.

In Sacramento, California they went wild for David Archuleta. The same in Fresno and San Jose. So Central California loves David Archuleta also.

He is a very positive role model and such a beautiful singer.

Thanks Archie for the great concerts.

David A. is more vocally talented then anyone on this message board put together. In saying that I feel the same way about the other 9 finalists as well. David Archuleta is an amazing singer and I am really looking forward to buying his C.D. I look forward to seeing the show when it comes to my city. Best of luck to all of the Idols on the tour and also in your careers afterwards!
Seventeen | 12:27 p.m. July 18, 2008
Many of the singers have established albums before idol like Cook, Carly, Johns, Kristy and Brooke showcasing their great voices. Carly, Johns, Kristy and Cook have the most non-fuzzy tone and the most PROFESSIONAL sounding voices. All they needed to do was be 17 years old again and cute/adorable to get a shot at the American Idol top 5. Cook probably got lucky because some of those who voted for Johns, Kristy, Carly voted for him. Season 8 will be just another teen american idol (look cute, very young, adorable and people will vote for you if your voice is decent).
Studio | 12:45 p.m. July 18, 2008
Listen to the studio versions of Carly's and the studio version of the runner-up. The difference is like day and night. Who has the professional sounding singing voice? Who did David Foster pick in Season 7 to have the best voice? If Carly was only 17 years old and cuter, she would have a big shot.
spoutingoff | 1:24 p.m. July 18, 2008
Lets face it, teens are the ones who vote the most for who they like. Duh, they like a cute young kid who has a great voice. Wow, what a surprise. AI did it to themselves by getting personal with the contestants. You can't say it's a "singing" competition and then try to draw people in by getting to know the contestants. That makes it a "singing and popularity" contest. BTW, isn't that what all artist want, to be popular. So if someone like Johns gets voted off early, it says something about his singing and popularity. Plus, he already had two recording contracts prior that failed so it's obvious that he does not have what it takes. I am a guitarist who has played in bands and recorded music and I can tell you Archie has the complete package and in a few years or less he will be an industry icon. Can't say the same for any of the other contestants, sorry. Done.
DaughtryVoteOff | 3:18 p.m. July 18, 2008
So, if Daughtry got voted off early, that says something about his singing and popularity. WRONG and TWISTED REASONING, spoutingoff.

Daughtry released an album with his band Cadence.
He also released an album with his other band Absent Element. You cannot say that any of his (their) pre-idol albums are failures. They set a number of CDs they produce and they sell them. These artists can make 200 CDs as their target and sell them all and that's not a failure. They didn't have millions of dollars to spend on marketing.

They are struggling musicians not musicians who are fed with a silver spoon and have a whole crew of voice coach/music consultants arranging their music for them.

They should have a version of AI made exclusively for teens. So these struggling INDEPENDENT (adult) music artists have a chance to show what they got before getting voted off by these teens/tweens and adults who act like teens.
KHill | 10:36 p.m. July 18, 2008
Julie A., if you listen to the top 3 group performance in Youtube "Top 3 Group Performance -Ain't No Stopping us Now", the quality of the voices of Cook and Syesha are professional sounding and are miles ahead. View all the group performances for Season 7, you will find that Carly, Johns, Kristy and Cook have consistently the best professional sounding voices.

Bookaholic | 5:28 a.m. July 19, 2008
To hear David Archuleta sing live is just breathtaking. His voice is so rich and pure and huge. Vocally, he is definitely the standout of the bunch. Cook is obviously a seasoned performer. Should be after being in a rock band for 8 years, right? He was quite good. Most of the others did very well. They just don't have the instrument that Archuleta does. Hopefully, they'll still do quite well. Time will tell.

FACTS about David A's fans: According to a recent poll, they are 70% female, 30% male. Agewise 30% are 17 and under, 28% are 18-30 years old, and 42% are 30+. Boppers may scream for David, but he appeals to all ages.

David has a 3-fold appeal that attracts fans: 1) He has an exquite, pitch perfect, powerful, and soaring voice; 2) he doesn't just sing songs, it's like he actually lives the songs vocally; he embues them with so much emotion it can be wrenching to listen to him sing; and 3) he is an extremely attractive, admirable, and charismatic young man.

People of all ages are drawn to David. I listen to him almost 24/7 and love it. He'll be HUGE!

Yeah, Archie will be a millionaire by age 18 or age 21. He would have more money and more properties than any of you. He already owns a Florida property. He'd be the one laughing (giggling) so hard on his way to the bank.

Never watched AI till this season, all the top 10 made it worthwhile. I was rooting for Cook till the end, and then I find myself hooked on Archie. Only time will tell, but for now ... am betting on Paula's prediction that Archie is bound for superstardom.
