I am so glad that RSL won and is in first place. Now we totally deserve that new stadium. Dave Checketts is no longer the 'devil' either and I am glad I am spending MY tax dollars on RSL.

No just kidding. I dont know why not having a winning team played so important in the battle for the stadium. Now that things are taking off on the field, maybe people will finally realize what a great asset RSL has been for Utah. Now where are all the soccer and RSL 'haters'?

The game was great, and it was probably the best game RSL has played all year in terms of game management and tactics.

RSL is a fun team to watch and root for, especially if you've ever spent much time around the game of soccer. They may not be ManU or Real Madrid, but there are only a few teams like that in the entire world. The team plays hard, is well organized and is made up of a group of young men that is easy to support. RSL is a wonderful addition to the Salt Lake community.
where's the dr.? | 10:08 a.m. July 13, 2008
the only downside to this game was that deuchar missed two golden opportunities, and you could see his frustration when he missed them. The commentators made a great observation that he may not be well suited for this team, as there isnt much wide service provided. but i'd argue that he's still had his chances, and 2 goals just so far just isnt going to cut it. we'll need him to start putting away those chances if we're going to hang on to a playoff spot.

go real!

If Deuchar can start finding the back of the net our games in the 'W' column will grow rapidly. There was an obvious spark and improvement when Findley and Deuchar came in the game, now I'd like to see Deuchar start, but I like Findly of the bench in the 60-70 minute range. Oh, and I'd love to see Espindola back.

GO RSL!

It's so great to see a team grow like Real has. It's funny to hear haters still talking smack on them too, they don't even realize that they are in 1st place in the west. They dominate every team they play. They have crisp passing, and they have posession of the ball the majority of the time. Now if they could just shoot the ball as well as they can toy with teams there would be a lot more wins coming their way. and we need a taller goalie. much respect for rimando, he's just not built to be an all star goalie.

Why doesn't Borchers, Olave or Wingert get any mention for the All Star Game? They're the reason we are in 1st place!

RSL's road record doesn't bode well for the coming weeks. They continue to prove me wrong though with their play this season. Hope they can be better at scoring. They play well enough on the road, they just don't get the breaks and the calls to win.

Breaks come from hustle. Calls come as officials respect your game.

Score early.
Playoff hopes | 3:58 p.m. July 13, 2008
I think this team could make the playoffs as is, but I really hope they're still looking for a forward if they want to do anything once they get there. This is 80% of a very good team.

I'm glad that RSL has got the monkey of its back, but playing on real grass will make a huge difference in the way the club performs.

No loses at home, one win away says we should take the playing conditions into account.

Maybe the doctor just prefers organic produce - he jumps, he heads the ball without worrying he's going to land badly on the concrete, he's more likely to score. Hesmer definitely looked worried diving on the surface.

A 6-6-5 record and they are first in their conference? How many conferences are there?
Yes, and Yes.... | 6:00 p.m. July 13, 2008
...I keep waiting for the good Dr. to wake up. I am starting to wonder if he ever will. Also...Kreis wasn't on the bench...you think any of the great tactics that were made...were done by Robin Fraser? I like to think that we do well without Jason around.

Just a quick reality check.
Where are the soccer haters? | 10:49 p.m. July 13, 2008
Right here. RSL gone in five years.

Bout time, that they start earning all that taxpayers money that is going their way!
Um yeah | 11:07 p.m. July 13, 2008

When did the soccer season start? I must have missed it.

re: Where are the soccer haters:

Even if RSL is gone in 5 years (which would be sad), we can all enjoy the fact that they're here now.

Re: Wow:

Too bad for you, it's been an exciting season so far, and it just looks like it's going to get better.

Re: all the other haters

Maybe you should find a different comment thread to hang out in ... it doesn't look like you're winning too many recruits.

Go RSL!
The Doc will be just fine! | 8:26 a.m. July 14, 2008
For all thoes who might be starting to doubt Deuchar keep in mind that right now this is his off season. As we saw with Beckham last year he was not up to par, now Beckham is playing very well. I also disagree with that he does not work well with this team, the way Wingert crosses the ball we will need Kenny there for that service. Next season there will be no doubt that the Dr. will be back to his old goal scoring self!
A real fight | 8:50 a.m. July 14, 2008
I understand Andy Williams wife was just diognost with a bad form of leukemia. May God watch over him and his wife. Soccer is one think fighting for your life is another. I hope as fans we can show them that we are fans both on and off the field and support them however we can.

Great job, RSL!
Very exciting game, much deserved win! I especially appreciate the fact they didn't hunker down on defense after getting a 1 goal lead, they fought HARD to the very end (even if the official blew his whistle early, again!) Let's keep this momentum going to Chicago and beyond!

re: Yes, and yes...
True, Jason wasn't on the bench. He was watching the game from a press box or other suite, in constant radio contact with the rest of the coaching staff. Kreis does a fine job coaching, but maybe after this game he should coach from up high more often.

re: soccer/RSL haters
Even though it's not your tax money, it's still your loss.
This year for my anniversary my wife and I gladly stayed at a hotel in Salt Lake knowing that the taxes we paid there were helping pay for the new stadium.

Go RSL!
Williams | 3:18 p.m. July 14, 2008
If the rumor is true about Andy's wife, the team should wear an armband or something, and the fans should be able to donate to help out.
Best of luck to Andy, stuff like that makes you realize this is only a game, there are a lot more important things out there.
Lets Go RSL! This one is for Mrs. Williams!
prayers | 10:08 p.m. July 14, 2008
Keep Andy and his wife in your prayer. Lets show them what true sports fans are regardless of if you like soccer or not.
