I give the officer credit for a great deal of self-control in using pepper spray instead of his gun to control the pit bull (although the residents of the neighborhood probably would have preferred he use the gun).

Pepper spray? I guess that was better than shooting the dog, since it was a residential area. But, yeah, before giving the dog back, make the owner explain how he would control that dog in the future. It obviously wasn't under control at that time. Might be better to just put it down.

mystery

And it is some sort of mystery as to why cities across Utah are revamping their ordinances? Imagine if another neighbor not so well protected had attempted to intervene. The dog is lucky its not dead.

The dog should be confiscated and put down. Its only a matter of time before that dog attacks an unarmed person. The cop should have executed the dog and arrested his owner.

The pit bull charging an officer is the result of the owner's bad training...why isn't the owner more responsible for this?
