Now where are all the "Don't mess with Texas" chest-thumpers who earlier were praising Texas DPS and CPS for their rough handling of the FLDS raid and associated civil rights violations associated with the handling of the case.

There were enough agregious violations by the FLDS that if it were handled with even a modicum of sensibility and sensitivity they could have helped many of those kids and even the parents stuck in that life-style.

Now they've just reinforced their fear and loathing of the outside world and made their leaders look like true prophets who warned them for years that outsiders would someday come and stomp on their rights and try to break up their families.

With the way this was handled by Texas Rangers... there is little chance of being able to make anything stick. The overzelous actions in the original raid and the civil rights violations that followed will just put a cloud over all the evidence they collected in the first raid and make people in DPS, CPS and the courts afraid to get burned again. Mishandling the first raid will also give FLDS families grounds to threaten their own law suits when push-comes-to-shove.
