Top PF in the league:
6'10"+
Duncan
Nowitzki
Garnett
Bosh
Wallace
Gasol (he'll go back to PF with Bynum's return)
Odom
Jefferson
Stoudemire

6'9" and below
Boozer (listed at 6'9")
Brand (listed at 6'8")

Beasley doesn't mean anything until he proves it against the top competition.

I looked around and nearly every site has Booz listed as a top 5 PF in the league. Milsap is great, but he's not an upgrade from Booz. Milsap gets more blocks (part of which could be explained because Booz and AK play at the same time, and AK is the team block leader, and part because Milsap has better timing, and he actually goes after blocks).
Boozer has incredible touch around the basket, can finish with either hand, and rebounds a ton despite have AK and Okur also going after missed shots.

I'm just saying that preparing Milsap to take more time at the 3 might not be a bad thing.

It seems like a lot of us Jazz fans want a change in the lineup, and have considered trading AK or Boozer, especially for a strong player with interior defense. But no one's mentioned anyone particular. Any trade ideas?

Don't trade Korver! Look at the season since we got him! We were a .500 team before and after we were a .760 team ending the season with him. We should get rid of Hart and Collins for sure. Then we can have more money to pay players that actually do stuff (Millsap, Price, Korver, etc.) I also want to see Almond play this year in the NBA not the D-League!

Are you insane? There is no way Utah would deal with a player like Wallace. Hamilton isn't a bad idea, but thats about it.
RE: WHATS GOING ON? | 5:01 p.m. July 8, 2008
This "our team is perfect" attitude is exactly why we wont win a championship if we werent good enough to do it this year we won't be good enough to do it next year.
Get over AK already. | 5:02 p.m. July 8, 2008
This guy will not do anything for us. his best years were when we were a lottery team. He can't do anything now since we have real players.

Obviously Maggette would be the best option with
a insane starting line of d-will, okur, maggette, boozer, and ak moving to the 2 (the 2 & 3 are the same in sloan's system). This is a real longshot, however.

In reality, Pietrus and Barnes would be great additions to the Jazz because Golden State doesn't want them--at all. If they were packaged for CJ and Almond Golden State would probably do it. We'd get deeper and GS would get upside and scoring.

The big trade that actually might work is AK and Collings for Dunleavy and Foster. It makes sense financially and position-wise for both teams. Indiana wants to be versitile and need they need a quick PF. The Jazz would get a real 3 and a proven scorer.

Many of our current players can not stay in front of their man to slow them down getting to the basket to give AK time to get there to provide the help defense. That is why we need to have better defensive players!!!!! We need a trade to allow AK to become a force again. This works out on the trade machine. The Jazz trade Boozer, Harpring and Hart to the Pistons for Hamilton and Prince. Power forwards that can average 20 points and 10 rebounds are not easy to find, so they might be willing to take Harpring and Hart to get Boozer. Hart has an expiring contract, which gives him some trade value.

Okur, Fes, Koufas?, Collins - Centers
Kirilenko, Millsap, Koufas - Power Forwards
Prince, Miles, Kover - Small Fowards
Hamilton, Brewer, Morris - Shooting Guards
Williams, Price and one out of the D league or trade Collins for one - Point Guards

Hamilton and Prince are team ball and defensive hard nose type players that Sloan loves, and this team would make up for Boozers points with defense and blocks.

THE JAZZ WILL NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP IF THEY CAN'T STOP THE # 2 GUARDS OF THE LEAGUE.THIS IS THE ONLY PIECE MISSING FROM THE PUZZLE.REMEMBER 2 OR 3 YEARS AGO THE # 2 GUARDS SCORED 50 PLUS POINTS THREE NITES IN-A-ROW AGAINTS THE JAZZ.THE JAZZ COULDN'T STOP THE #2'S BACK THEN & STILL CAN'T STOP THE GREAT # 2'S TODAY AS WELL..THE LAST 2 GUARD THAT WE HAD THAT COULD PLAY TUFF DEFENSE WAS JEFF HORNY (FOR SHORT)...IF THE JAZZ GET RAJA BELL, A FEW CHAMPIONSHIPS WOULD COME UTAH'S WAY.HE'S GOT THE TUFFNESS THE THIS TEAM NEEDS SO BAD; IT'S SO OBVIOUS...PLEASE MR. O'CONNER: SIGN RAJA BELL...
bob marley | 6:57 p.m. July 8, 2008
forget about magette, he wants to go to boston. i say let him go and lets pick up james posey. he locked down kobe pretty good during the finals, and we could use some of that. -roll one for the jazz-
rich | 7:02 p.m. July 8, 2008
get raja bell to play some tuff defense this team is missing so bad....we can't stop any good 2 guard in this league...raja played well for us a few years ago....he's a better version of bruce bowen...the spurs would of only won 1 or 2 championships without bruce bowen....it baffles me how the jazz management don't see the team need a tuff defender to guard the likes of kobe, tracy, manu & others.....we always lose the close games because the other teams top player, usually the 2 guard can't be stopped...our best defended is harpring by far,yet he's too big to guard the faster 2's, plus raja won't take any elbows to the jaw...if kobe tries that B.S. with RAJA, RAJA will put him on his ass; that's what the jazz need....they get pushed around & the other team hit the jazz with nasty hard flagrant fouls; yet utah never responds back......hey jazz, where's your tuffness...GET RAJA PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RICO | 7:07 p.m. July 8, 2008
GET RAJA BELL BACK ON THIS TEAM.....HELLO JAZZ MGT., CAN ANYBODY ON YOUR TEAM STOP ANY GOOD 2 GUARD.....NOOOOOO...IF YOU CAN'T STOP KOBE,MANU,TRACY,HOW WILL YOU EVER GET TO THE TOP...IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.....HELLO MR. LARRY MILLER; GET RAJA BACK ON THIS TEAM....DO WHATEVER TRADE NEED TO BE DONE TO GET THIS TUFF KID BACK ON THE TEAM....THE JAZZ HAVE NO TUFF GUYS RIGHT NOW; THAT'S NOT GOOD....PLUS RAJA'S A LEADER WHICH THIS TEAM REALLY DOESN'T HAVE ONE EITHER; WE'RE VERY YOUNG RIGHT NOW........GET RAJA NOW.......
Big J | 7:24 p.m. July 8, 2008
The Jazz should trade Boozer, Brewer, and Collins to Detroit for Prince and Hamilton. They don't need wallace who will be kicked out of games becuase of his temper. Then they should Trade AK to Chicago for Lol Deng who is a better offensive threat and also can play defense.
Armchair GMs | 7:30 p.m. July 8, 2008
Man, I am sure glad none of you guys are running the Jazz. Trade Boozer? Seriously? You guys have no clue what you are talking about. Boozer is on Team USA for a reason. He averaged 20 and 10! He is one of a handful of guys who did that last year. I have a great idea...let's trade him! Good thinking guys. Why is nobody suggesting that we trade Okur? Does he play D? I'm not saying to trade either becuase the Jazz are in great shape even if they do nothing, but between the two, I'd rather have Boozer's 20 points and 10 rebounds to go along with no Defense than have Okur's 14 points and 7 boards with his no Defense. Give it up guys, Boozer is an elite player and next year you'll be glad the Jazz didn't trade him.

how long did it take stockton & malone let this teams play together make a few minor changes here and there and better defense but remember patience
Go Jazz
Maggette and Pietrus are gone. | 8:54 p.m. July 8, 2008
Foxsports reports that Maggette will be signing with Golden State and Pietrus with Orlando. Those seem to be two names people here wanted. There are no rumors of the Jazz signing anyone at all.
Joe Buckeye | 8:58 p.m. July 8, 2008
Koufos is soft.
Crazey j | 9:03 p.m. July 8, 2008
I think the jazz need a good outside scorer like kobe or someone who defends to I like brewer but he cant shoot at all. The Jazz are good in all position get wride of Brewer or AK get someone who can make a shot when they are open.
Trade with Warriors | 9:06 p.m. July 8, 2008
One opportunity that has opened itself up for the Jazz is trade potential with the Warriors.

Let the Warriors sign Corey Maggette for just above the mid-level-exeption so he can get the money that he is looking for. Then trade AK for Maggette, which will help us with some cap relief and get the Jazz a player that will benefit the team.

After that, if possible the Jazz should sign Mutumbo and buyout Collins. Mutumbo has tons of defensive experience and would be invaluable in teaching Fesenko and Koufos defense. Look at how he lifted the Rockets when Yao Ming went down.

I feel these two moves would put Utah over the Lakers in this upcoming season. A lot rides on how the situation with Maggette rides out though.

As a side note, I feel bad for Warriors fans. Finally starting to get good as a team, and all of their players are leaving to sign elsewhere. Makes you wonder how the management is.
Koufos | 9:24 p.m. July 8, 2008
If Koufos is soft, then he'll fit right in.
Gandhi | 9:52 p.m. July 8, 2008
The jazz need to know right now what Carlos Boozer is planning on doing. If he decides he wants to stay, Keep him. There aren't that many consistent 20-10 low post threats in the league, and he definitely helps the Jazz more than he hurts. However if Boozer is looking like he's got plans elsewhere a trade must be made. While we would get cap space (for the 2010 free agent class) if he just opted out, Utah typically has a hard time attracting good free agents and if they can't sign anyone, that sets us back several years. Here's a couple of trade ideas if necessary...
1. Boozer for Chris Kaman (according to ESPN Elton Brand is likely going to philidelphia, and the Clips would be eager to get a PF like him to play with Baron Davis) Kaman provides good interior D and rebounding, and is becoming a post threat. Plus he's coming off a career year.

2. Boozer,Brewer,Collins for Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton. Losing Boozer and a talented young player like Brewer hurts, but the addition of Prince and Hamilton would greatly increase our team D as well as # of veterans.

Crazey J -

How do you figure Brewer can't shoot?
............ | 10:40 p.m. July 8, 2008
yep and the Golden State Warrios are losing Pietrus to Orlando and picking up Corey Maggette the offensive machine. Go Warriors. Sorry the Jazz lose again.
Dick of the NW | 11:12 p.m. July 8, 2008
With Corey Maggette going to Golden State it shows he was just chasing money and not willing to play for a winner. We need more ballers than just players; ie D-Will, Kyle Kover, and new draftee KK. The Jazz is D-Will's team so let's keep him in the loop on any transactions. Hope KOC can add to the team even if it's through subtraction. I'll leave the details to LHM, KOC, JS, and PJ.
Leonard | 12:41 p.m. July 9, 2008
Trade Boozer.
Re: Anonymous 10:25 | 10:07 p.m. July 9, 2008
If you have seen Brewer play you know he can't shoot. Yes, he shoots 52% from the floor, but those are mostly layups or dunks. 16.7% from 3 point range isn't what you are looking for in a starting 2 guard.
To DJ HOOP:: | 12:40 a.m. July 10, 2008
I hate closed minded people who think that all "big men" need to play in the post only, and all "small men" play on the perimeter. Back in the 1950's, a guard was a guard, there was no distinction between point and shooting, and they could post up, slash, and hit jumpers. Big men were just big men, not forwards or centers (unless your name is Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Moses Malone or Bill Russell). They too could step out in the key for a jump shot, were agile enough for pick and slash and pick and roll, and then they could also dominate the post. Basketball players were basketball players. It doesn't matter if you're a 6'9 point guard a la Magic Johnson, or a 6'5 power forward a la Charles Barkley. Memo Okur's style is a tremendous advantage over those centers in the league now of days that only stay in the post. It's called stretching the defense, which makes the defense scramble more, providing the offense with more opportunities. Trust me, Okur, AK and Boozer's outside touch is an advantage, but I also see them dominating the post when they're down there. Stop hating cuz your small!

@ To DJ HOOP::

Thank you for that, that is exactly what I have been thinking. Saying that a center has to stay in the paint is not only narrow minded but it can be a huge offensive liability if your center can't score in the post.
