I have two boys (5 & 2 as well) and this is my worst fear.

Too many parents just don't watch their kids, glad they were found before something ugly happened. May the parents watch their kids more in the future

I agree with Jr. Too many parents take things for granted. My husband says I am too protective, but incidents like this reinforce my "controlling" behavior of wanting my children in sight (in front of me, not behind me) at all times. If the children are asleep, then the parent doesn't go more than 50' from the tent, and put a bell on the outside zipper pull!

Glad those boys were found. Just waiting for someone to say this was an accident, blah blah blah...Kids don't show up missing if they were being watched. The ole "turned my back for a second" does not wash.

all parents never wish such thing to happen,but experience makes us smarter.dont ever let little children alone outside the house,more so nowsaday lots crime around.i am happy the children are safe.let's learn from this as a reminder to all .

The title made me think the boys went missing in Las Vegas and were found in Iron County. Am I the only one?

Yeah, the headline is a little misleading. I thought the kids went missing in Las Vegas at first. It's a good thing this turned out well--thanks to the searchers who jumped right in.

Your are not the only one.
Glad they were found, hope parents don't have to experience something like it but at least it was a happy ending. Let's make GPS affordable for families so we can get our kids to wear one when camping etc.

. . . from tells me they were "from" Las Vegas. If the word "in" was used it would tell me the boys were lost "in" Las Vegas. I understood the headline!

I'm not terri, but I have kids.

I am a transplant to Utah with two children.

My wife and I have tried to figure this out, but it seems that everyone around here starts at age 20 and has 5-6 kids.

They are overwhelmed and tired, and really have no solid parenting skills for the times we live in.

(I have a theory my wife disagrees with -- that most Utahns have so many kids they don't mind if they lose one or two.)

I have taken my kids camping, and I know where they are at all times, period.

My kids are teenagers. I can't get them to away even when I tell them to get lost.

Boys ages 2 and 5 are too young to ask to get lost.

I am so happy for the family whose children were found, and that they were found so quickly. I am sure it felt like an eternity while they waited--but at least they did not have to wait over night or for days on end! A quick comment to "not Terri", I assume you are being coy, because of course no one would want to lose their children, but just to let you know, those of us who have large families (I have 7 children)do so because we love children so much! I cannot bear the thought of my life without any one of my kids! They are all individuals with unique personalities that bring so much joy into my life, and my love for them is not sliced up like a piece of pie. They each get a whole pie for themselves! I am sure you love and nurture yours just as much, but please don't doubt what we, with larger families feel!

I'm active LDS who grew up in Utah and raised my family there. Unfortunately, I see the same thing. Small kids wandering unsupervised. It is far worse in Utah than anywhere else I've lived. I know there are parents of large families who truly cherish and supervise their kids and are a true asset to the neighborhoods. Sadly there are some who are a disgrace to the Church and their neighborhoods. I can see why non members and transplants to the state may get the wrong impression about how children are cherished. It only takes one idiot parent to give the others a bad name. I had an LDS friend who had a large family and consistently "forgot" to pick up her kindergartner. You'd think she'd remember since the school repeatedly called her to come and get her child. I would have been mortified if it happened even once. She thought it was hilarious. I somehow think the school staff were not impressed with this LDS mother. I wish more parents would watch their kids. I'm sick of hearing sad stories of toddlers drowning or cooking in a hot car etc.
