Hahaha!!! I just got back from a baseball game, it is funny how people bag on soccer. Talk about even slower and plus you really have no idea of when you get to leave the game.

Everyone knows when you leave a baseball game. It's oin the 7th inning or whenever beer sales stop.
0-0 draws | 1:01 p.m. July 5, 2008
If you give soccer a fair shot, the only time a scoreless draw really burns your hide is when you sense both teams are OK with it. This time neither team really was (but especially not RSL), hence the fight. This was a relatively entertaining game (at least, in the sense of being really frustrating, but let's face it, when you become a soccer fan the frustration and release is part of the point). Not as entertaining as had RSL scored one, but not the snoozefest that biased people will keep thinking it is.

The refs let this one get out of control. Numerous times Houston Players were sliding from behind to stop RSL fast breaks. There was one specifically that I thought was almost deserving of a RED card.
I wish one of those waterbottles being tossed from the crowd would have hit the ref right in the face!!

I was on the North end of the stadium and thought the game was going to end early because of all the stuff flying onto the feild! I was a little worried an RSL player was going to get injured by their own fans. It was a fun and exciting game!

P.S. Soccer Haters.... THANKS FOR THE NEW STADIUM! HAHAHA!

RSL needs to finish. What happend with Beckerman on that perfect pass!!! Oh well, it was still a great game. I predicted a loss, so I shouldn't complain. RSL has a tough defense this year. They just have to finish. I can't wait to go to next weeks game. Soccer haters, go play your exciting game of if I was 10 lbs bigger I would have gone pro.... (you get my point). We lover soccer, you love yourselves. Who cares!!!

RSL has put together a nice team, accept as any fan knows, for their scorers. Those of us who are part of the Spanish community in Salt Lake would like to see RSL get someone like Carlos Ruiz. He is now healthy and not playing in LA. It's hard to believe LA would not make a deal for him. Not only would he score goals and help the team win games he would help gain additional support for the team.

I enjoy Soccer but I have two major problems with professional soccer.

One is that I have never understood how on a field that size you can only have one person who is allowed to blow the wistle, only one person who knows the actual game time, and only one person with the authority to issue cards. It seems crazy to me to put a singe man in the middle of a roughly 110x70 yard field and expect him to be able to see pernalties with enough detail to determeine their severity. The linesman can help point out penalties but usually that is it, and they are usually 20 yards away from the action themselves. Which leads to my second problem...The theatrics.

Since the Ref is probably 30 yards away from the action at any given time the players have taken it on themselves to manipulate that situation any way they can. I mean the flopping and the whining and the pretend injuries just leaves a real bitter taste when I watch these games.

Thank goodness the NBA is cracking down on that crap. Just play the game and let the officials do thier job without your help.

In response first to Soccer Plus:
No! Bringing in Ruiz would not be a good idea. Why do you think LA and past teams get rid of him? Yeah he is great at scoring, but he is a cancer to the team. He would want the show to be all about him, whereas it is very obvious that this team is going to be just that, A TEAM! I would like us to bring in someone who can do thier job, be a big shot, but know its a team effort. Cough McBride cough!
In Response to magnus:
Really it is a four man system (4th ref on sidelines), all of them are SUPPOSED to work toghether. They each have a role, the center is just the one with the whistle that makes the call in the end. As you pointed out, simulating a foul is very dishonest and derogatory, however you dont realize that soccer also has a punishment for it. If you watch the Columbus vs Chicago game you see that Hejduk gets a yellow card for acting as though he got fouled in the box.
Come on real, lets get a win not a draw!
Where is the leader? | 4:23 p.m. July 7, 2008
I think the coach is a joke and so is beckerman. BOth of them give up in the end and the other team always dominates in the final 10 or 15 minutes. RSL just got lucky Houston didn't score this time. Beckerman is a waste of space on the roster. He plays well for part of the game and then disappears when his team needs him. He had 2 open chances to score and didn't even shoot at the goal. Get rid of him and get someone with heart and get a coach that coaches to win. I thought it was a fun game to watch and loved being in the stadium but blaim the tie on beckerman since he did jsut as much and more in my opinion than the refs did to make the game a draw. And he is a classless player. I don't care how mad you get you should NEVER say what he said to the refs. he dropped below their level by a lot
Re: Where is the leader? | 10:38 a.m. July 8, 2008
I have a problem with Jason Kreis. It seems as though all of our players come into this team and have flare and are very passionate about the game. Remember Beckerman from last year, the argentines when they first got here, etc. Then, it seems, they lose their confidence (possibly bad training sessions) and become less passionate and more self centered.
I agree Beckerman has dropped off from last year, but to say he is the worst player on the team is taking it WAY too far. What this team REALLY needs is a proven coach, or someone with a lick of experience coaching. However, Kreis has sealed himself up a spot for the rest of the year and probably next since he brought in so many players (the new guy woulndnt know what to do exactly).
I say we ride it out, hopefully Kreis runs some different training sessions (hopefully finishing is the main idea for the next few days) and Real becomes the team they have the potential of being... best in the west by far, and a contender for the title.
Come on Real!

Kreis is doing the right thing. You have to start with the defense and build your way to the offense. The defense is getting very strong with Olave, now the strikers need to finish those easy opportunities. Beckerman is a really good player, he just needs to get his confidence back. RSL will win this Saturday 2-1. Deuchar will get his first goal in a long time. We need to awake the Dr. Goal again because he is capable of scoring a lot of goals.
