i think that okur is expendable.... defense and rebound win championships and we wont win one with a three point shooting center

Maggete will be a great piece for the jazz. We need to get rid of the show-up-every-other-game kirilenko and replace him with maggete. Also, we could put Brewer at the 3, have maggete be the 2 and have our up and coming star morris almond come off the bench and give us another great shooter. O man, I am salivating just thinking about this roster:
1. D-Will
2. Maggete
3. Brewer
4. Booze
5. Memo

With Morris Almond added to our deep bench.

getting dwight howard would be the key to get to the finals but thats far from happening. leave the roster the way it is and then when boozer backs out use that money and buy someone next year thats in free agengy. jazz got what they needed this year. A CENTER

People keep saying Maggette is willing to play in Utah because he signed before. If I remember the story correctly there was speculation he only signed with Utah in order to push the Clipper into a bigger contract then they originally offered to keep him. I'm not saying he doesn't want to be in Utah. I am saying using the previous contract as proof he WANTS to be in Utah is a shaky assumption.
BEWAR | 4:20 p.m. July 2, 2008
wow you guys.....why wouldnt anyone want to play in utah. utah is once again a team no wants to play. jazz keeps getting better and better every year. as for corey maggette! he wants to play for a contending team. he would help the jazz big time but from hearing from alot of the other rumors. he is probably gonna end up in san antonio. why? they are old and cant run anymore. the jazz are one of the youngest teams in the nba and are division champions twice in a row. the jazz will be tough to beat next year. i think its time to get rid of the bench warmers that office thinks they can still help. bring in the newbies. fez will be a great back up. and the new player kousta will help as well. one year in the D-League he will be fine. then again these players on the jazz roster want to prove other teams that they can play. thats why the jazz should not make any moves unless maggette accepts the midlevel. he wants to win obviously. he can make it so much easier for boozer and okur.

Someone mentioned Eastern European players are the only players the Jazz can sign.

That's because they don't know how lame it is here. All of the ballers in the league, you know, the guys from the hood know they can't party here with their posse and their bling.

I have to agree with a previous post that K O'C is blowing smoke to appease the fans. The Jazz are capped out and only have the MLE to offer. Do you think we have really anybody to trade outside of D-Will and Milsap. I love to hear the fans and the trade scenarios. Do you think anybody wants Boozer after his stellar playoff performance? How about the max contract of a pouting Russian? What about our other starters a slow lumbering Turk or a young 2 guard that can't shoot? Let's go to the bench Dreamy boy from Iowa, Hart, Price, Collins......I didn't think so when you put yourself in the GM shoes. Last and least our D-Leauge all stars. Buried in Orem and never seen but on a few occasions? Now most of you will say that Fesenko has promise. If so why did we draft Koufous Doufous? Lets face it we need a miracle and our GM doesn't have the faith to make it happen.

trading AK would be a big mistake. Brewer and him are the jazz defense. Thats what we need not more scoring. get rid of boozers' disappointing overrated ass.

Your an imposter, or an idiot. Who would buy tickets and at the same time run the entertainment in the ground? Jokers like you haven't got resources mentality or personally to do much other than just run your de-mented mouth. Go join one of the losers we have in other sports we don't need you at Jazz games.
bigjazzfan | 5:58 p.m. July 2, 2008
IT's nice to dream, isn't it?

maggette isn't coming here, because the jazz don't have the money.

boston has allen, miami has wade.

HE will end up in either orlando or san antonio.

The jazz have never made a trade with one of the big names on their team.

the closest they came to it was trading mark malone for hornecek.

IN the history of the jazz,

They have never traded for big name.

They have never traded a big name.

They don't have the courage, to afraid of making a change, too stupidly attached to their players.

But hey, Dream on Jazz fans!
I agree with trade rumors | 6:10 p.m. July 2, 2008
Trade Boozer and A.K. for money and Dwight Howard have Brewer or KK even Almond take A.K. place. And HOward take boozers.
1.D-Will
2.Brewer/Korver
3.Memo/Koufas
4.Howard/Milsoap

dont know about all the cory m talk what the jazz really need to do is learn how to play defense look at the celts thats why they won the title. the jazz can compete for the west if the learn defense. maybe look for some defensive help
DUH! | 6:49 p.m. July 2, 2008
for being such a 'bigjazzfan' you should know that Hornacek came here in a trade for JEFF Malone, not MARK Malone.
KleischaVonFlaphenstein | 6:55 p.m. July 2, 2008
All that will happen with the Maggette talk is a little buzz for us all to talk about and him signing with another team. It's fun to pretend, "What if?" but then reality sinks in and we'll have to get by with untested commodities and good guess work on unproven talent. Face it fellow Jazz fans, we are very, very, very, very, very, very low on 99% of all NBA player's list of fans to play for. Heck, we're going to have our hands full just keeping Boozer. Thank goodness for D Will, he seems committed to us hick folk.
Sincerely | 6:56 p.m. July 2, 2008
This defense issue is real simple. Just get the films of Boston's many games and especially the playoffs and look at what was successful for them. Defense is 80% effort, because if your good enough to play on the offensive end you can play defense. I played and know. Look at film Sloan and staff and implement the same thing with our team. It sure worked for the Celtics against Kobe don't you think?
sign and trade | 7:22 p.m. July 2, 2008
You cant do a sign and trade with an unrestricted free agent. So your thoughts of AK for Maggette are just stupit. Half of you are idiots anyway. I read your posts to laugh at how stupid Jazz fans are. Its a good thing none of you run the team plus there is a reason you arent.
Yearsley | 9:08 p.m. July 2, 2008
I don't think Corey Magggette is the answer for Utah. They already have a good team as it is.But I do think that instead of Ronnie starting at the two guard that Kyle needs to but Jerry most likely would not do that because he likes Brewer for his hustle plays and defense.Although Brewer would be a great player coming off the bench in my opinion because he would bring energy to the second unit, just like Paul Millsap does.I agree though that Utah needs to buyout Jason Hart's contract and look at someone such as Chris Duhon, he would be a great fit for Sloan's system
It's About The Money | 9:33 p.m. July 2, 2008
AK has to be traded, and it is mostly because of his contract, and not his play. His contract is hurting us right now from a salary cap standpoint just as much as a bad player can hurt his team on the floor. KOC is basically strapped because of AK's contract. All this talk about getting Maggette or anyone else for that matter is all great, but it can't happen unless we dump some contracts from our payroll, or if they are willing to take the mid-level exception. Unfortunately, the kind of players we need right now are not going to be satisfied with the mid-level exception. That means we have to dump bad contracts. When you look at the roster AK's contract is the one that hurts us the most right now. It's that simple. I have loved his game over the years as well, but the fact of the matter is that he isn't playing like he used to, and it is really hurting us. I hate to seem him go, but it is time.
Corrections | 10:21 p.m. July 2, 2008
Its very painful to read the comments of people who think they know what they are talking about.

1. (Hart?, 10:13) Hart picked up his own option, the Jazz would have never offered him a 2nd year.

2. (Garrett, 10:33) We can only offer the MLE, not 7 or 8 million. While we are not at the dollar for dollar luxary tax limit, the jazz are currently over the cap and cannot sign anyone not already on their team for more than the MLE.

3. (Idaho Fan, 10:40) Only 1rst and 2nd year players can play in the D-league, your theories of Hart and Collins to the D-League are invalid.

4. (Please Fans, 12:55) Total dollars involved in a trade have to be within 30% of each other.

5. (Sign & trade, 7:22) Maggette is a restricted free agent and can thus be involved in a sign and trade.

6. This was a giant waste of my time. But I get so angry hearing "facts" from people who really have no clue.
Alex | 10:49 p.m. July 2, 2008
You guys are completely lost.

1) You can't trade for Dwight Howard. He makes 6 million. Carlos Boozer and AK make about 26 combined. Impossible in salary cap.

2) Maggette wants to sign a mid-level contract because of his currently offers, I do believe Maggette will get a 8-9 Million dollar contract and sign with them.

PG) Deron Williams/Ronnie Price
SG) Maggette/Brewer/Korver
SF) AK/Miles/Korver
PF) Boozer/Millsap/AK
C) Memo/Kousta

3) We need to waive Jarron Collins and Jason Hart for sure, but Matt Harpring is getting old, and starting to become inconsistent, and has bad knees. The Jazz will probably not waive him, but I think he only really has 1 good year left.
Village Idiot | 1:35 a.m. July 3, 2008
I realize that maybe I over-reacted when I wrongfully, and unjustifiably, barreled all the blame for the ridiculous "AK and Boozer for Howard" notion at "Trade Rumors". Maybe you were just relating to everyone here a possible trade that you heard elsewhere. If thats the case then you should stop getting your information from a little black ball with an 8 on the top and a glass window on the bottom through which to view your many, many ridiculous dreams. Just cuz Bush uses it doesn't mean it works for everyone.

Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!

The gut hasn't played her in 15 years and I forget his first name. Big deal.

Still doesn't change anything I said.

You people come up the most nonsensical trades.

Why would orland trade a superstar bigman dwight howard for utahs junk?

WHy? Why? Why?

hawaiijazzfan | 11:55 a.m. July 3, 2008
im pretty sure maggette is a unrestricted free agent and as such, cannot be signed and traded, although truth to your posts. people cant just say stupid things like lets trade boozer or kirilenko for dwight howard. no one trades their franchise guy (especially if hes young) unless they are stupid (aka, the gasol trade).
Anonymous | 5:08 p.m. July 3, 2008
I'll admit that i don't know jack about trades. but what i do know is stats. Kirilenko averaged 1.5 blocks per game last season, Maggette averaged .1 blocks per game last season. Kirilenko shot just over 50% from the field, Maggette 45%. The Jazz don't need someone jackin up crazy shots and then not play defense. He can stay away as far as i'm concerned. Why does everyone dog on AK? He's not over payed because he's a one man defensive show. He picks up alot of the jazz scrappy D plays. If the jazz didn't have AK or Brewer they wouldn't make it to the play offs. 4 triple doubles is impressive. Brewer seems like he is adopting AK's style a bit to defensivly. I can see brewer puting up triple doubles by next year. Whatever happens go jazz!!!!

Boozer/Almond for Maggette/Turiof

This trade is even better. GS gets Rid of TWO long contracts: Maggette & Turiof AND either sign Boozer to fill GSs biggest weakness (4 Position) OR GS gets Boozers 12.66 Million dollar expiring Contract. Almond would be AWESOME with Nellie Ball. Almond is not as suited for Sloan ball.

Jazz get Maggette (A missing piece to their championship puzzle & Turiof can back up Millsap. Jazz do not need both Millsap & Boozer. They both play Power Forward & both are All-star type players.

WIN-WIN!

Please people...Trade AK-47?!!! I know his contract is way too high, but he is too flexible to give up right now. AK does EVERYTHING above average.

We are nuts if we pick Boozer over Millsap. It makes NO SENSE!!! What?! Give 24 minutes to each one of them when they are both all-star Players? Pleeeease!!!

The one thing about doing this though is our Payroll would still probably around 92 Million for next year WITHOUT BOOZER!!!
