Someone needs to run a write-in campaign for Governor this Fall if Huntsman is for cap and trade of emissions. Unbelievable. Huntsman's lost his soul to the socialistic greenies. Cap and trade is a farce. Global warming is still hotly debated by the scientific community, and the idea of man's causing global warming is debated even more. Huntsman's sticking a knife in Utah's back - the home of billions upon billions of barrels of fossil energy (shale, tar sands, coal, etc.) if he goes down the socialistic cap and trade route. That route strips States of their rights more than ever -it puts the Federal government in a non-constitutional position of power more than ever. Huntsman, what are you thinking? You've lost you're constitutional moorings, in your dizziness over national prominence.
It seems like all he wants to do is push his global warming agenda. So whatever money he may save us in energy will be swallowed up in global warming tax. I just don't like him. He seems phony and the only agenda he has is to be the president of the United States. As much as I would like to se a mormon president. It can't be him!
Thank God Susan and Unbelievable do not constitute mainstream thinking regarding global warming. And kudos to Huntsman and the other western governors for addressing the external costs of CO2 emissions which is necessary to any coherent, progressive energy policy.
SCHWARZENEGGER: I can only take all of these things for so long. Eventually, you know, I get sick and tired of it. So one day at night, I remember being at dinner, I got up because I had it, and I got up, and I said, you know, McCain is the man. He's the best man for this country and for the future, and Maria is absolutely wrong with that Obama fellow, absolutely wrong. I was so lucky that Maria was out for dinner that night. It was easier to do that. Can you imagine living with somebody who is so diametrically opposed? How do you talk about it without losing your mind? How do you talk about it? I mean, let's just say you think McCain is the greatest thing since sliced bread and you also think Obama is an empty suit, is nothing but platitudes and so forth, and your wife thinks he is full of substance.
ADVICE TO JUNIOR... GO TO MITT'S WEBSITE... PRINT ENERGY POLICY!
So, when did Mr. Rogers get named to his new position? It's amazing how our socialist leader gets his picture on the front page of the Deseret Snooze every day.
Auntbee ignores the fact that the global warming question is far from settled scientifically. It is wrong to push cap and trade on a free society when the scientific basis for the need or efficacy of such a program is far far from clear - if you assess the overall credible scientific opinion on the matter. Auntbee subscribes to "dogma" based on some critical mass of "mainstream" opinion that exists in her imagination. And it's wrong for Huntsman to ignore the constitutional limits on the power of the federl government and give away States' birthright to general jurisdiction over all matters unless specifically yielded to the federal government in the text of the Constitution. That's what will happen if we concede to Congress the power to impose a socialistic cap and trade system on our free market American leagl, cultural, and constitutional fabric. Who would have thunk it; one of our own. Governor Huntsman, set aside your vain personal ambititon and get back to saving the Constitution from further erosion. One more thing: Auntbee's ilk would ignore the hundreds of tons of emissions from forest fires currently raging in California, due to wilderness policies in forest management.
Gotta love the irony of a politician whose wealthy family made its billions by using petrochemicals turning around and preaching the virtues of energy efficiency to everyone else.
To paraphrase Charles Dickens: "Oh, to hear the insect on the leaf pronouncing too much waste among his among his hungry brothers in the dust."
The Republican strategy is drill, drill and drill.
They don't care about the environment or the air, since they want to turn America into a third world backward republic.
Why are we paying a governor to make national policy on an issue that is controversial? We have plenty of problems in Utah that he could help us fix.
Got news for you, Auntbee - the vast majority of us see through you and Comrade Huntsman about the Global Warmism cult, the new Marxism. And for this issue to be so high on CH's energy policy list is mind-boggling. $4/gal. and rising! Thanks Comrade Matheson! How do we manage to elect such gullible leaders? A: we are more gullible than they, obviously!
Re: Unbelievable, Susan, and Helllloooooo. Good comments. I agree. Governor Huntsmans foolish energy ideas will only undermine the state and the nation, and make our energy problems worse. I voted for Huntsman, but hes been a serious disappointment. He makes his decisions based not on whats right or prudent, but rather on what he thinks will make him look good at the moment. Thats pretty sad.
Despite the backwards nature of many Utahans, it's nice to see our wonderfully talented gov take the lead in the fight against global climate change. Enlightened, thinking, governors like Arnold, and Huntsman represent the future of the conservative movement.
Global warming is the biggest farce in world history. It's junk science and not supported by peered reviewed research.
Does not surprise me for a second that Huntsman got suckered into believing it.
He doesn't really come across as the analytic type.
Gov. Huntsman has a flawed energy policy that will cost Utah rate payers. I work for Rocky Mtn. Power and 70% of our generatin comes from low-sulfer coal. We have among the lowest rates in the nation because of our coal and access to hydroelectric power in the northwest. Huntsman is opposed to coal and nuclear power. Infact- he is in supoprt of a carbon tax and this cap & trade BS. The best wind generation sites have available wind only 50% of the time and not on hot summer days when power usage peaks. Electriciy cannot be stored on the grid so all wind generation must be backed up by conventional generation. Wind & solar cannot generate the power we need in a rapidly growing Wasatch Front. Do Utahns want rolling blackouts and the enery problems Califronia has with more that double the cost of electricity? Huntsman has bought off on this global warming hype and it is very sad. I guess it was sexy for the Govenator to come out and promote saving the planet with Huntsman.
