This program has been a great benefit for my boy. I know that it helps a lot of autistic kids. I hope to see the day that Utah's special education system is deemed more vital than it currently is. This money helps a lot of these kids develop skills they need to be independent, and they become tax payers rather than state service consumers. Let's continue to show how this money is a good investment.
what's best for kids | 8:26 a.m. June 30, 2008
Finally an example of doing what is best for kids. Parents MUST be able to choose the best educational setting for their child. EVERYONE benefits - the students first and foremost. Families benefit of course because their child/sibling is getting the education they need. Society benefits as students are better prepared for their futures. And public schools benefit as they aren't asked to serve some of the most difficult kids to serve.

The "market" is working in this case as more and more private schools are expanding or opening to serve special needs students. Remember when the educrats told us "no one else will serve them so WE have to do it all so give us all the money?" I guess we are proving them wrong. There will always be a market response, even when it is costly. Parents are coming up with dollars to make up the difference. So additionally, this is GREAT for the taxpayer as well.

Remember when they said "private schools just skim the best students?" Again, I guess they were wrong. I wonder what else the UEA and PTA could be wrong about? I'd love to have the chance to find out.

The only Voucher program worth having and supporting in this state is the Carson Smith Voucher Program. I am glad to hear it is expanding.
